Please note: wild camping in the Dolomites is illegal, I did so at my own risk and would not encourage it. As my trip was during the offseason, all mountain huts (rifugios) were closed for winter prep. One of the biggest problems arising from wildcampers in the Dolomites is damage to flora, even if not visible during that season. For this reason I chose my pitching spot with care and attention and operate a leave no trace policy and in the case of Lago Sorapis I collected as much rubbish left by other people as I could.

Even though I’ve seen your videos already, when I want to just chill and wish I was in such beautiful settings, I just watch some of your videos again. Love your work. Loved the series from Dolomites especially👍🏽

Alyn, thank you so much for this video, i’m so lucky to have been visiting the Dolomites the last 10-11 years (sometimes twice a year), to see these mountains in your vlog and photographs brings back very fond memories, concerning startrails; living in the southern part of the Netherlands won’t help so another excuse to go back to the Dolomites!

Hi Alyn. Brilliant video - inspirational!. Your images are always stunning but these are pretty special. Bet you've got some great memories of the Dolomite's night skies. Always learn loads from you Alyn, so huge thanks for sharing. P.S. Looks like we might get a couple of clear nights this week so I'm hoping to get some shots of Pen Y Fan from Cwmgwdi and the Cefn Cwm Llwch ridge.

Great vlog again! Can you talk a little about how well the camera does with the cold? I worry about leaving it out when its really cold

I've literally had my DSLR frozen solid before. They're normally fine in the cold the only problem is getting frost on the lens so sometimes I use a telescope dew heater. This was with the Sony and I had no issues

Austria, like Switzerland, is an Eldorado for landscape photography where you trip over photogenic scenery every few meters. Well, unless you live in the Burgenland perhaps. Pfueti.

I know, its a beautiful country with so many breathtaking places! I am from vienna and it takes me quite a while to go to the austrian mountains. So sometimes you need to motivate yourself to get up and just do it. And thats when i wach videos like these. :) If you ever come to austria and need company, just let me know! cheers

I haven't been this year yet but usually visit once to thrice a year friends im Salzburger Land. There are some places around the Dachstein that I'd like to do some stargazing photos off. Vienna is not so ideal for night skies obviously. ;-) But it is apparently the worlds most desirable city to live in. Then again the pollsters who came up with that may have got lost in the Heurigenschenken around Schoenbrunn... 8-)))

Its phenomenal, surprised I didn't crash the car being distracted by all the stunning scenery! Would be great man, I'm in the process of switching vans but would be good to hook up. I'll be a bit more free in June and July

Yo! Great video as usual. You mentioned that Samyang 24mm. I'm thinking about getting one. Did you have any issues with getting bad copies of it or other Samyang/Rokinon lenses?

I've been lucky with my Samyangs but it's worth getting them from a reputable source so that you can return if need be. Sometimes they come decentred so one side of the frame is always blurry. I had a few bad copies of the 14mm but been fine with the 20 and 24

"A Pretty Good Last Night".......I'd say an Awesome last night Alyn as all those images were truly amazing. Given the amount of images used to stack in your final image, how long did post processing take, given the plane trails you removed?

More hours than I care to admit haha Problem is there's so much air traffic over the Alps! But it was a case of an hour here, an hour there, no idea on the total probably 7-8 hours I guess including plane trail removal stacking and final edits. 30min-1hour to render all the raws as tiffs etc

Amazing video man! And wow what a beautiful place the Dolomites is. When you go out on these trips, do you only exclusively make astro photos? Or do you also just shoot landscapes during the day?

I do shoot landscapes as well but on this trip there wasn't a cloud in the sky the whole week! So didn't get many daytime shots I was happy with. I only vlog the astro stuff though :)
