The way how Rene Auberjonois was able to make his voice as Odo sound so convincing and unforced is a testament to his ability as a voice actor. He also did the voice of Chef Louis in Disney’s “The Little Mermaid”. I had no idea Auberjonois did that voice until years after DS9 ended. His seamless voice transition reminds me how Kevin Conroy was able to effortlessly transition from his Bruce Wayne voice to his Batman voice. Next Generation has aged the worst of those 4. Gene injected so much weirdness into the concept and script writing. There like 20 TNG episodes that are actually good and hold up, the rest are pretty meh. People remember it fondly because it was literally the only science fiction on television for several years. Our choice was literally between watching a Lwaxanna Troi episode or watching ALF.
@TheSniperGTO4 ай бұрын
Hard disagree. Season 1 and 2 of TNG were hit and Miss, from 3 in the show was superlative, and most of the episodes still hold up. DS9 was amazing, and very much underrated. I’m still amazed today when I meet trek fans who have never seen it. Voyager? Ummm…it had a good premise, it had the absolute best theme song, and 7 of 9 was hot. That’s about all I can say about it. When I was stationed in Korea, I borrowed the series from a friend, and watched it as I’d missed it due to the war and deployments. I was so hyped to finally see 7 years of a Star Trek I’d never seen, and knew nothing about. I had to force myself to watch it all. It was just terrible. In light of Discovery and season 1 and 2 of Picard, it seems ok now.

Fun fact: When the people in charge of Star Trek back in the day heard about the development of Babylon 5, they quickly whipped up DS9. 😁
@TheSniperGTO4 ай бұрын
JMS actually pitched the idea to them of a series set around a space station. They turned the idea down as ludicrous, so he came up with B5. Then, he found out they were making a series set around a space station, and even used names he pitched to them that he went on to use in B5. There were lawsuits. Also, DS9 was a serialized show, whereas B5 had an interconnected, overarching story arc. However, when B5 started trumping them in ratings (with a fraction of their budget) DS9 introduced the overarching, interconnected Dominion War saga, with the douchebag blue haired producer claiming “you’ve never seen sci fi like this, with 5,6,10 part episode stories”. Yes I have, on B5. I love DS9, but man, they totally ripped that show off.
