Riker, Picard, and Crusher looked just like the real actors. I have mixed feelings about "First Contact." It was arguably the best of the Next Generation films, and I don't know if it was the film stock or technique but it had a sharp high resolution look to it the other films didn't. The Borg were at their best when they were a faceless machine entity that only said what it had to; think of the Terminator or The Thing. They pushed the idea with Locutus, but it was explained as the Federation was a difficult enemy and turning one of their best captains into a propaganda tool was to instill fear. The Queen ruined the concept; Alice Krige played the part well but we're back to a stereotype of a female warlord equally using military prowess and seductive charms, and it made them too much a known and predictable enemy.
@stopgeorge27 күн бұрын
Completely agree. They ruined the Borg with the Queen.
@jimbopumbapigsticks27 күн бұрын
I know what you mean. It kind of makes sense that a hive with drones would have a queen, as a kind of information processing unit, but it made them much less intimidating.
@Mike1064ab25 күн бұрын
The Borg were originally supposed to be an insect race so I’m sure the idea of a “queen” was always planned in some way.
@michaelcroff709715 күн бұрын
Lorists will tell you that coming into contact with Starfleet changed how Borg were structured, as they knew humanity had the potential to become as powerful as the Q. So they got themselves a queen. But wouldn’t they have been inspired to do such a thing before?? By other cultures with a command hierarchy??

My two criticisms: 1) Your audio always sounds tinny and flat. 50s theaters were where most people first heard stereo- with lush orchestras and big booming narrators. 2) Super Panavision 70 was a 60s thing. You want Cinemascope and Technicolor (or Eastmancolor).
