I'm gonna buy this just so we get more star trek games that aren't mobile cash grabs.

I'm SO HAPPY to hear that this game is a great Narrative, especially since that is what Star Trek is at the core

The game is honestly incredibly good. I just finished playing it , and i loved every second, even did 6 hours of sitting because i couldn't quite the story! I felt like watching a star trek show while still playing a game! There's even characters i disliked at the beggining i learned to love , and some i loved i had to part way wtih. Incredible game.

Especially for a game like this, I'll wait until they patch out a few things. I'm an enormous Star Trek fan, and have been excited for this game for a while, but the bugs will likely pull me out.

I've been looking forward to this game for YEARS and I didn't even know this came out already. I got it yesterday, played through it in one go, and it's absolutely wonderful. Everything I could have hoped for in a Star Trek game. This makes me happy.

Does it feel like a Star Trek story, though? And no, I don't mean Discovery or the first two seasons of Picard, I mean the good shit. DS9, TNG, hell even ENT and VOY.

A new Start trek media that is about inter-species negotiations and exploration instead of space battles, explosions and macguffins ? Surely that must be a mistake

Thanks for the great review. I'm enjoying the game so far but yeah, the camera can be a bit too close to the player at times. I loved the opening sequence/intro to Resurgence. To me, it gave Star Trek Voyager vibes! Did anyone else get that feeling from the game?

I wish they did something different with the shooting sections - every time you duck into cover it resets your camera which makes the shooting parts really frustrating, even though they are easy. The rich, character driven unfolding narrative is so good that you ignore the bad gameplay elements and bugs/general jankiness of the game engine - which makes it all the more jarring when you get dropped into a stealth or shooting section

Actully played a bit into this and it's by far a true narrative centric game worth a pick up by far

Always happy to see non-indie titles going less for the standard $60 fare. It's also great that they got the core of the game right with the writing and hopefully they'll finish polishing it to improve the performance and audio issues.

The narrative, dialog, and presentation of the story is great. Im loving it. The pacing is also pretty fast past. Its a bit janky with phasers, but serviceable

I'd love to see a more exploration based Star Trek. Boldly going into the unknown. A nice point and click adventure would be great, maybe with some strategy with picking away teams. You know, like with the Star Trek for the Super Nintendo

I'm on my third playthrough in a row right now. The story changes a lot, depending on your choices in some dialogs. Especially regarding your releationships with crew members and other characters. I have experienced a few bugs, but nothing really game breaking. Crackling dialog sound when using headphones. A single crash and a sequence where Jara's voice couldn't be heard. All in all, this is a GREAT Star Trek story. It really pushes all the right buttons to make it feel really Star Trek'y and making your decisions important and impactful.

Bought this as a Star Trek fan. I like it but it definitely could have been polished up. The cut scenes look rough (especially on things like hair on characters). Some of the controls are kinda clunky at times too (have to move the thumb sticks really specifically to perform certain actions for instance). The Telltale style of gameplay where it’s more of an interactive episode/movie works for me. I probably wish I had paid maybe like $20 instead of $40 just due to some of the technical issues but still an enjoyable enough game so far.

I'm just getting into star trek and I'm guessing fans have been dying for a mass effect type of game for a long time

I highly recommend this game to anyone who is a fan of the original Star Trek timeline. It provides a great escape from the disappointing television shows that currently claim to be part of the franchise. Playing it feels like experiencing a new show before the era of Abrams and Kurtzman, who ruined the series..IMO. This game, along with Star Trek Online, satisfies my craving for all things Star Trek. While it would have been nice to create custom characters, the game's excellent story, immersive choices, and fascinating NPCs make up for this drawback. I give it a hard 8 out of 10 rating and found it truly refreshing and highly enjoyable.

Choicey narrative games are such an obvious style of game for Star trek that it's honestly baffling it's been decades since the last one.

The game had such a marvelous story narrative that I will fogive the small nitpicky flaws in the game.

I'm not the biggest Star Trek fan but I'm about 8 hours in and I'm loving the game. The voice acting has been great and the story has me super intrigued. I can't wait to see how it ends

Seems like one of those games that despite of all the apparent choices...ahem...Hogwarts Legacy...nothing really matter at the end. Need more information on that end before I can make a decision.

How's this for a review @Paramount, until companies like Epic games stop gatekeeping PC titles I'm going to be torrenting the titles I want to play and if at the end of that game I like it I'll buy it and only if it's available on steam. I would have bought it on steam today because it's convenient and I love star trek but now I'm going to go OUT of my way to get it and play it without paying because this title was gatekept.

In the biggest Trekkie I know. I’ve watched Star Trek for decades and also now watch everyday and have since that became practical with the streaming era. I’m also a huge PC gamer, playing games on the daily. So I would normally be a sure sale for this game however even as much as I want to play I wont buy from the gamer-hostile Epic Game Store - just like many tens of millions of PC gamers. Making the game an EGS “exclusive” was a terrible decision. Even gamers who would buy from EGS won’t because many likely have never heard of it. EGS “exclusives” don’t get reported on or talked about as much as games on gamer-friendly storefronts. What a waste of a seemingly good game. Well I’ll play it whenever it is no longer an EGS “exclusive” but I won’t pay full retail for a game that is no longer a new release. Especially to a dev who has disrespected their potential gamers with EGS “exclusivity”. (The reason I put “exclusive” in quotes is because this is a contrived, artificial storefront “exclusive” - not an actual technical exclusive on different technical platforms. Closing it is contrary to the nature of the PC as an open platform.)

I hate how this is an epic games store exclusive. I think it would have made it big if it wasn't.

Fun to play, but unlike the Dark Pictures games... the choices make no difference, not really... certain people die and events occur and there is only the illusion that you can change things, which is a real shame... they obviously churned it out quick and did not take the time to flesh it out... as such it's fun to play through, but there is ZERO replay value.

The games pretty pathetic tbh. It’s clunkier than STO (released 13 years ago). The “choices” have less impact than choosing which kind of outpost to build in ME Andromeda. The narrative overall while somewhat entertaining is a 4/10 Star Trek episode (pushed to a 6/10 because you the player have interaction but still lacklustre). And the games been released in an unfinished state with TONS of graphical bugs, audio bugs, no dialogue skip option, no graphical adjustment options, graphical continuity issues, game breaking bugs forcing you to reload a chapter to continue due to crucial elements not loading in. I don’t get peoples want to polish a turd here. The devs were practical radio silent for 2 years (small studio I get it but could one of them not have taken an evening out to update us?). Over all a pretty sour experience for a game I had such hope/hype for. Would struggle to rate it over all 3/10. If you want a janky mess of a game that somehow manages to still be somewhat entertaining and gives you a sense of progression? Play Star Trek online. You’ll encounter less bugs, feel more satisfied and over all have a more enjoyable experience than this piece of shit
