I liked the screaming face beneath the tar scene. When the thing wants to show that Riker is alive, but in agony. It just stuck with me.

I have to wonder when Tasha was supposed to have recorded her funeral message. It seems like she knew the crew pretty well when she did it, so was she constantly updating her own eulogy or what?

I did not like this early design of the shuttlecraft. It looked too much like an egg and pretty uncomfortable for even just two passengers to travel in. I prefer the later versions from "Time Squared" onward.

Hmmm....B- and C...interesting, this is one of the stronger episodes in the series. B or B+ for me. I think the dual character arcs of Tashi's death and Artimus (spelling?) were good. They needed Picard to show some emotion, and Stewart does it well without over-doing.
@MichaelBrookham
@MichaelBrookham 8 ай бұрын
I give it a B, but I always wondered, when Armus envelops the ship, he is no longer blocking their path. Why don't they just run over there to help, or at least send Data.

yall know the reason yar death was so sudden and just thrown in there was because she couldnt stand the sexism on set anymore and quit the show. later when they got a new director the atmosphere changed and the show got better. edit: got somewhat better. not like sexism disappeared overnight or anything lol
@benjaminbierley2074
@benjaminbierley2074 3 жыл бұрын
For the most part, in retrospect, the show had "unconscious" sexism from the writers through much of its run but did get better to a degree for the time, but yeah the first season was just horrible about it. It honestly fascinates me to look back and realize while it was super progressive, the writers still struggled to write women at times...a struggle that carries on today with writers.
@macmcleod1188
@macmcleod1188 3 жыл бұрын
While I agree that some of the writers were sexist and there are many hysterically over-the-top elements of sexism in the show, I feel your statement is revisionist history. She said for years that her part wasn't growing fast enough. She felt she wasn't getting enough lines. She left on amicable terms and was a fan-favorite so she returned a few times.
@xavier84623
@xavier84623 2 жыл бұрын
@@macmcleod1188 she also said straight up that it was because of sexism. so did every woman on the set, they said it was a very toxic environment. its not revision at all, its straight up what they all said.

Tasha's death would have felt more meaningful if the monster was threatening to kill Troi. Her Tupac hologram funeral was creepy, too. The sentiment was nice, but I couldn't help picturing her awkwardly recording those death messages to all her friends while she was still alive. Having the crew reflect on their relationship with Tasha together would have felt more genuine and less gimmicky.
