I don’t think I’ve seen an Escapement Time I didn’t like and this is no exception. Yes, you and I will ALWAYS pay more for better specs but not everyone can or will. Thanks for the great review!

I have this watch as well as over 20 others of varying price and style and this has become my daily driver. Just dispense with the supplied strap and away you go, melts onto the wrist with a lovely elegant face.

Thanks for another great review Al. It's a very nice watch. Not too much print on the dial The Escapement Time font makes the watch loij very refined and dressy. This quartz movement is a great alternative to save costs and I don't mind mineral glass as for me given the small size would be a dress watch and get no punishment. However, I agree with you, another $20 with a sapphire glass and AR coating would still make this a bargain. As for the strap, quick way to break it in, roll it up tight a few times and two things might happen. Either it makes it nice and supple or it cracks the surface. If No. 2 happens, it's worth it to put a nice black leather strap on it anyway.

Recent large price hikes from the H brand make this a very compelling offering. I'd have been happy to pay a good deal more for sapphire crystal. Movement is acceptable but, except for solar powered movements I prefer auto or mechanical

It's a very nice looking watch. I could have been tempted but a sapphire crystal is what I expect these days. So in a sense I'm lucky they went with mineral. As for the strap. Try something distressed brown. I believe it'll look much better.

Thanks for reviewing 👍. I really like the Murph 38mm apart from the movement, and price, so I was pleased to see a homage. However, it just doesn't look right to me, I have compared the watches and I think it is the hands, Escapement ones aren't shaped quite right and seem too white.

I thought that at first, they do look quite white, and I assumed the real murph had silver hands but it turns out they have a sand blasted finish. ET's appear to be Matt white. In my opinion they are close enough that it no longer bothers me and the white minute track matches up with them.

I think this is an awesome watch considering what you're paying for. If I was receiving this as a gift. I'd be ecstatic. This is a winner in my book. Is it perfect? No. But there is no such thing as a perfect watch. Good stuff here. Cheers!

I actually think the logo fit the style of this watch better than the khaki field one. However, the "100M" seems to be in a different font, neither the font of logo, minute marks, or hour marks, which makes the dial less appealing.

Oh, man! How an Earth did I missed this video so far? I constantly looking for a review about this particular model as I have a thin wrist and I love simple (field) watches. I'm a bit afraid of the 38mm size with 16cm (6.3inches) size wrist, but everything else is just perfect (great quartz movement, full set of Arabic numbers, good looking hands, and I can live with the mineral glass). Should I worry about the size (which is bigger than 36-37mm)?

The lug to lug length (case length) is probably more important than the diameter. The lug to lug of this one is 47.2mm, which is quite long for a 38mm watch. I think there is a risk that the case might be a bit too long for a 6.3" wrist. But it also depends on the shape of your wrist. If your wrist is quite flat, you might be OK. But if you have a wrist shape that is more round than flat, the watch case will probably be too long. Thanks for watching 👍👍

Waiting for Mk II , if it ever comes. The genuine Murph has limited colors on hand and dial and is better for it IMO. On this , I don't like the lighter colors. I would be a buyer if it mirrored the Murph in this way. I wish watch sellers would offer the watch alone as an option. I'm sure a fair few people have straps at home, ready to swap out..

Agree I'd like an All white version for hands, indices, etc. However - I'm sure the strap only adds about $3 to the asking price here, so doesn't really matter with the inclusion/exclusion.

My Murph arrived yesterday delivered within 7 days from China and I agree it is a very nice watch especially after changing the strap for a more premium leather one. Now the downside; mine is keeping terrible time and has stopped at least 10 times since wearing it. I don't whether the battery is about give up the ghost, although it should have been installed from new, and risk replacing it or send it back for a refund. If I open the back to change the battery I assume I won't be refunded

Sorry to hear that you're having issues. I've never had a problem with the VH31 so far. It could be a faulty battery. I'd try changing it but if you have concerns about that, I'd recommend checking with the store beforehand. Don't leave it long though, as if it's not a faulty battery, you need to raise an AliExpress dispute ASAP. Hope you manage to sort it out.

I agree it's most likely to be the battery which I did mention when I raised a dispute but was just told to request a refund which I have and returned the watch. The watch itself is great but if I had opened the back changed the battery and it still kept stopping they might not have refunded me. Thanks for taking the time to reply I really enjoy your channel

Quick update for you. After the watch was received at the returns warehouse I got an email saying the seller wanted more evidence and information about the reason for return.I raised the issue through the Aliexpress help centre basically confirming the reason was that the watch kept stopping. They looked into it on my behalf and I got my refund the very next day 😃 👍

Wishing he will release an automatic version with frosted metal hands...and longer hands at that. 10.4mm thickness will not fit an automatic movement....and to re-engineer it again for an automatic to fit? Not likely.

Gosh damnit, why not include sapphire and charge $20 more? I was really interested till I heard that. I tend to trash mineral glass and it's a deal breaker for me.

@TimeForAnotherWatch I've just scratched too many dials that I've now made sapphire a must for me personally. Otherwise, I end up tossing the watch, and I don't make enough money where I even want to toss a $100 dollar watch. The only brand I might make an exception for is seiko because I could possibly mod the watch and add sapphire if I scratched the face.

I don't get this common remark. Let's review.....mineral glass scratches easily but is more shatter resistant. Sapphire is more scratch resistant but can shatter more easily. I put a clear watch protector ( pak of 3 for $3) on the watch face of a mineral crystal watch and call it good.....best of both worlds.

I am fine with the cursive logo but depth rating on a semi-dress watch looks out of place. Just automatic instead of 100m would be better imo.

@@Chris-de2qc Being the geek I am, I measured the logo position and both ends of it are an equal distance to the edge of the dial, so it's centred OK. I think having a long brand name like this can look awkward. They should probably go down the "logo only" route.

@@TimeForAnotherWatch i had high expectations regarding the brand and the official pics but the fact that the bezel is so shiny and the hours markers aren’t of the same color than the hands…I dunno, makes it look cheaper than my steeldive flieger for example , and it’s an automatic for the same price .
