This Modern trailer was made as if it came after Revenge of The Sith, IKIK not a popular thing to say but I think its exciting to edit it this way! Included deleted scenes and dialogue to add to the "newness." Everyone excited to see Kenobi back and telling Luke of his past as well as wondering why he said Luke's father is dead, Obi confronting Vader years later surprising us that we may get another mustafar style fight, etc. I'm aware it takes away from the big episode 5 reveal so please don't just leave those comments over and over and over again. Star Wars is always Timeless I just like putting little twists with editing here and there.

I love how the central focus is on the Skywalker twins and how the big trio were eventually tied together by the end of it. Also Luke asks 'How did my father die?' which builds up fantastically to ESB. The soul of the trilogy captured perfectly in a 2 minutes trailer.

Agreed. I love how you catch that shot of Obi Wan looking away before he answers Luke's question about how his father died. It actually looks like he is preparing to lie, even though I'm sure Lucas gave no such backstory to Guiness at the time of shooting.

Is this actual cut footage or fan dubbing? If it's real stuff left on the cutting room floor, I'd say this is one scene to restore. I don't recall this scene from the special edition in the 90s.

@@davidc.2878 I agree. They added the wrong Biggs scene back into the Special Edition. This one gives so much more exposition and shows the friendship. This is the one that makes you feel something when he gets taken out.

Unfortunately there's no way to re-add it to the film without restoring everything else that was cut out of the film. I mean, where would you put it? After Luke got the droids? Impossible, Owen shot him down on that. Before? Then you ruin his introduction. As good a scene as it is, there's just nowhere on the timeline that it fits.

I remember the original trailer in 76 or early 77, I was 8 or 9, I couldn't contain my excitement to see it, bought anything I could with Star Wars on it in anticipation including novelization with pictures. Luke and Leia swinging across chasm one of iconic scenes in trailer, and sight of Vader and stormtroopers stuck.

My Dad said he went a few times to see it back in the day. No one had seen anything like it before, the visuals still looked great right in to the 90s. It was only when movies like Starship Troopers and the Matrix arrived that things moved on and CGI stopped looking shit.

A few years after seeing the movie I read the black and white comic of A New Hope, which included the scenes with Luke catching up with Biggs and talking about his plans to defect to the Rebellion. It really made Biggs' death at Yavin hit that much harder, and I really wished they'd found a way to include it in the movie. Awesome stuff.

Yeah, it's unfortunate that original scene of Luke at Tosche Station was cut. I understand why Lucas cut it; it definitely throws off the first act's pacing. I believe Lucas was right to cut it out of the 1977 release, because it could have hindered the film's popularity by distracting the audience from the action at the very beginning of the film. But I never understood why he didn't put it back for the Special Edition. I mean...he gave us shitty CGI alien critters that don't add much to the story, including the Han / Jabba scene that not only looked awful, but it added absolutely nothing to the film. At least the Biggs scene gives us some context for their meeting on Yavin (that Lucas extended with previously cut footage). Why add the stuff on Yavin and not the stuff on Tatooine?

The flow would be totally broken by these scenes if they were shoehorned in somewhere, for sure. But. I really love them, and it brings a depth to Biggs' death that is hard to overestimate.

Obi-Wan: He got seduced by an creepy old grandpa who gave him a weird made up name 'Darth Vader' in his personal office, and your dad believed what he was doing was right, so I kinda betrayed him by hitchhiking his wife--your mum's ship--and witnessed them having a big domestic fight which ended up with your mum crying herself to death, then I chopped his legs and arms off and left him to die by some lava. Too much? Fine... Vader betrayed and murdered your father.

Woah. As a Star Wars 77 kid.....THANK YOU. Love the edit. Gave me chills. I saw this movie the summer my Dad passed away. I was turning 9 years old in 1977 and this movie took me away from all my pain and sadness. To this day....it is what inspires and drives me in all I do. This trailer edit is very cool. :-)

This trailer is so good. It starts small scale by just taking place on a single world. And then it opens up with the lightsaber - and then the rest of the galaxy - AND THEN the evil side is introduced. It's just such a perfect way to bring a future classic into cinemas.

Star Wars has been part of my psyche for 43 Years... this trailer moved me to tears, reminded that 9 year old boy I once was what Star Wars really is. We never got a proper trailer back in 1977, the production was under LOTR levels of crunch time pressure and there simply wasn't enough VFX shots complete to release a trailer. Thank You for doing this.

@AD_edits You are, in my honest opinion, the best editor on KZfaq, including video choreog, if someone never told me to check these edits then idk where I would be today, you made Tarkin easily my favourite antagonist, he was amazing in the film but this makes me afraid of him, it makes Darth Vader look like a mysterious warrior, no sign of the Emporer, props to you brother

It is eerie/telling how this really does feel like...Every Modern Trailer Ever, somehow. Like it fit an incredibly familiar theme and tapped all the spots. But at the same time, I haven't seen extended cuts/deleted scenes versions, so despite being someone who actually started watching Star Wars when it *was* just the first three, it had dialogue and that clip of a scene that I'd never seen or heard before. Cool stuff.
