When Cyril first saw combat on Ferrix in episode 3, he was shook, Mosk had to pull him to safety. Now, Dedra first sees combat on Ferrix and a hardened Cyril has to pull her to safety. Mosk is here again too, sitting on his ass in an alley. Them parallels y'all
@carter358
@carter358 Жыл бұрын
Another parallel is the way the Corpos wanted to keep the two "murders" quiet while Syril wanted to chase down Andor and the way Qyburn (I can't recall the character's name) says " Today was about wiping the taste of Ahldani from the Emperor's mouth" while Dedra thought it best to get prisoners and interrogate them. Ultimately, Imperial oppression leads to the goal becoming "appease your master" instead of "do your job well and competently".

This comment reminds me of the chronical of Narnia series. I started reading the first books when I was 10 but only was able to get my hands on the 5th when I was 15 and by the time I went on to the 7th I was already too old for it, still love that but if there are movies or series ot me made I'd appreciate a more mature and realistic take on it , I should not say realistic lol , probably grounded would be a better word there.

What's it like being 13? Seriously - if I saw this when I was 12 I would have loved every moment. The idea that this show is just for adults is a nonsense. Me and my 7-year-old schoolfriends would watch "Blakes 7" on Monday night, and re-enact what we saw in the playground the next day. "Blakes 7" was a primetime BBC1 sci-fi show about a rebel called Blake, who had his mind wiped by the evil Terran Federation ... and then stood trial on false charges of sexual child abuse as a way of discrediting him [did I mention this was primetime and kids were watching all over the country? And loving it!] - and sentencing him to life in prison, on penal colony Cygnus Alpha That's just episode 1! The dialogue was mature, and delivered by superb stage actors - when some of the prisoners escape, they commandeer an alien vessel ... they don't like or trust each other much .. like Andor levels of distrust, with associated barbed dialogue. There are so many parallels between Andor and Blakes 7 - I just know I would have loved it, and with the added bonus of superb VFX [however, both shows use real-world locations superbly! - at age 7, how was I supposed to know what the inside of a disused power station looked like? It looked just like an alien processing plant to me!]

Literally none of the movies are good. The OGs look bad, have boring fights, bizarre plotholes, and bad acting. The PT has bad acting, excessive CG, and horrible dialogue The ST had bizarre plotholes, messy character arcs, and took you people’s criticism to heart too much at the end.

Only one word can be used to truly describe this show, MASTERPIECE! I can’t remember the last time a show made me hold my breath from anticipation this many times throughout a season. And I’m completely with Cassian, if my mother gave that speech with that much heart at her funeral I would fight the Empire to my dying breath! Luthen is willing to sacrifice anyone, including himself, in order to make sure the rebellion succeeds. He doesn't care for Cassian but now believes there's more use for him. It's simple at the end of the day- he lost Kreegyr and needs a new soldier. I mean, till this episode, we have already seen what Cassian's capable of. And we know he goes on to achieve much greater things.

...and also more about Kyla, Lutheren's assistant. The actress played that role to perfection, those subtle looks and glances she gives. And the writers for giving her weight through her dialogue. She wasn't just jewlery or a sidekick to Lutheren...there was gravitas. When Vel asked told her "I gave him Aldanni, what have you done lately?" Kyla's response was as classic a verbal undressing as I have seen: "I don't have lately...I have ALWAYS." PROPS to the writing team.

I like the episode because it is incredibly simple in its approach and resolution. Andor avoids the trap everyone expected him to walk into, Luthen and Imperial alike, by not walking in. It does something different, and outmaneuver everyone, even Luthen. Finally Andor is finally a member of the rebellion and now he will learn from Luthen and become even more dangerous and capable. On the other hand, the text message is an echo of what Andor said to Kino but with other words "oppression is the mask of fear" "What do you call killing 200 people to keep a secret? I call it fear" Even before hearing the manifesto they already thought the same. The issue is that oppression requires more and more effort, but it generates more and more discontent, until the system breaks down, inevitably due to the pressure. The empire creates its own enemies over and over again, a vicious circle that they themselves create and are unable to prevent. Cinta could be a problem in the future, she was more interested in killing an imperial than in the mission, in fact she is totally absent from the mission and acting alone all the time. That doesn't bode well for the future, but maybe I was wrong.

There's another parallel between this final scene and episode 3 climax. There it was Luthen who had to convince Andor to join him and they took the hoverbike together to his ship. Then too Luthen had come for Andor to recruit him but only as a merc. Now too he had come for Andor in a different way. But he went back alone only to find Andor already there, to join him, not just as a merc, but as a rebel, literally ready to die right then and there. And the beauty about Andor is that he is never impulsive ever. Never gets carried away with emotion. Always observant, calculating odds and possibilities and making tough choices rationally. Whenever he kills, you can actually see that depicted by Luna. It's brilliant writing. Even in rogue one, when he does it right at the beginning you can see that. They've stayed true to that character and they've shown he has always been a survivor who isn't afraid to kill to survive but not unless it's necessary.

Fiona Shaw is so amazing! I loved her in Killing Eve, I was so happy about her little role in Fleabag and she totally crushed it here. What an amazing show, perfectly structured, an amazing mix of set up and pay off, I can't believe that a Star Wars show is one of the best of the year.

I liked the resolution that parallels between Cassian & Syril's respective, though very different, journeys, on opposing sides of the conflict. Syril is a believer in Imperial order from the get go, and Cassian slowly becomes a believer in the Rebellion. And in the end, Luthen sees something of Cassian's worth, as does Dedra begin to see Syril's.

Watch Gangs of New York. The playing of poorly played musical instruments and a group of people marching together is an intentional homage to that movie. Like the original trilogy was an homage to old Westerns and Akira Kurosawa movies wrapped up in a Sci-Fi Fantasy Opera, Andor is paying homage to spy, espionage, and also revolution movies. Why I think Andor is so special, it is not paying homage to Star Wars (like Boba Fett and Obi-Wan did), it's paying homage to the other genres that made the original Star Wars what it was.

@@Bayard1503 Again yep, these writers and showrunners know what they are doing. Also, the Andor Logo. Why does it look similar to the Rebel Alliance logo but not quite? The only post-credit scene explains that. Rogue One and Andor is all about the Death Star. Rogue One and Andor would not exist if it wasn't for the Death Star.

If you calculate how many six pronged hexagonal mirror interconnecting pieces there are per mirror as part of a larger giant mirror, then count the number of giant mirrors in the dish section, they didn’t make that many in prison. How many prisons and levels and sectors per prison ward and the number of hours of labour per day. Doesn’t add up. … :D if i’m being picky. Best not mention the scale of the dish too.

It ends with Andor now fully committed to the rebellion and Luthen with a slight change of heart. We even get to see - almost - a smile from Luthen! Season two will have numerous time jumps throughout so that the final episode butts right up against Rogue One, just like Rogue One butted up against A New Hope (according to Tony Gilroy, the showrunner).

Show don't tell, the ending answers a big question quite nicely. I totally buy Andor's and Bix's young love. They do (seem to) have a connection. I hope that all those who are on Marvaa's old ship survive well into season 2. Climb. It was brilliant of Mon to shift focus onto her husband, it should keep her one step of the Empire until she gets rescued in Rebels. I'm' thinking of making a CLIMB there's only one way out T-shirt. I don't think the Mouse and his rat lawyers can sue me.

On the first point, I think the reactors know he’s the spy, but it is a bit of a surprise for him to openly arrest someone. I guess he hasn’t been fully incognito, but it’s a bit strange for him to just straight up arrest Nurchi in broad daylight as a cover for bringing him in. It was probably just coz there was no time so he did it himself, otherwise maybe he would have arranged for a staged arrest to take place in a couple hours at an agreed place and time by troopers so that it wouldn’t blow the spy’s cover entirely On your second point, that scene was so weird, initially I was like “ffs, DO NOT KISS, DAMN YOU DISNEY DON’T RUIN THIS!” but then there was a moment in the middle of their scene where I kind of thought “you know what? She’s so amped that I kind of could allow a panic, adrenaline powered kiss,” as long as the show didn’t try and act like it was somehow cute or romantic. As long as it was clearly just her being off her face from the stress of everything. Maybe if Syril had even pulled back a bit from it and the show used it to clarify that his obsession with her is more as an idol of aspiration and not as a romantic or sexual fixation

I don't really need another season to understand Andor's arc. I'm sure the "further rebel adventures of Cassian Andor" will be great fun, but we could go straight to Rogue One, as far as I'm concerned about Andor. But who knew Mon Mothma had such an intriguing backstory? I certainly want to see her progress to the Star War: Rebels episode where she openly announces her leadership in the Rebel Alliance.

Great ending for the first fantastic season. That's how it should be done: tell each season as a complete satisfying story without a big cliffhanger, because most shows get cancelled before they can tell the ending or without being told ahead of time, with the result that there are a TON of shows out there, that just stop with a lot of storylines and setup just left hanging. This show told the story of how Andor ended up at as a proper rebell instead of just a hired hand, and and all the other characters ended in a good spot to end as well. If this had been the last episode of Andor ever, I would be fine with it.
