In this Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection gameplay news update video we breakdown the surprise announcement of the new Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection, which features both Battlefront 2004 and the original Battlefront 2. We discuss all of the confirmed gameplay features such as online multiplayer, bonus maps, new heroes, new game modes, and the return of classic Battlefront game modes such as Galactic Conquest, Conquest, Assault, Hero Assault, Capture the Flag, and Space Assault.
Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection is incredibly important for the future of Star Wars games. One of the most requested games is Star Wars Battlefront 3 and if this new Battlefront game performs well it could end up being one of the catalysts for Lucasfilm Games to make a Battlefront 3 or at least some sort of new Star Wars Battlefront game. This Star Wars Battlefront release will also be one of the few Star Wars multiplayer game options available in the current generation as the recent LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga and Star Wars Jedi Survivor (as well as the upcoming Star Wars Outlaws) are all single player experiences and do not feature online multiplayer.
Needless to say, we are incredibly excited for the Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection and can't wait to get our hands on the game and relive the golden era of Star Wars games when it releases in a few weeks!

as much as like old Battlefront new Battler front 2 game plays way better and smoother, ( exception of ship combat) i think issue is the lack of content and how quick they were to abandon it like old battle front 40+ maps New battle front 8 .....

I certainly didn't back in the day, I bought battlefront 2 on steam just before this was announced then took it back because I didn't know we were getting this lol. But to your point when I played it, sometimes the computers seemed rather dull whereas with actual humans it ought to be something else, that will make it seem less like a ps2 era game

I didn’t play online at all. I played the single players campaigns & played the heck out of Galactic Conquest! Being able to fly from planet to space & land on capital ships was an. Epic inclusion that the remakes dropped the ball with! They dropped the ball with the entire thing making it almost exclusively online & skipping single player modes like GC imo!

So many memories on PS2, one of the first co-op games I had that I could play with my brother where we weren't forced to compete against each other. I could complete a full Galactic Conquest alone on medium, maybe I finished one on hard difficulty, but alone , the friendly NPCs were just getting killed too easily. Somehow the latest Battlefronts on PS4 didn't hook me as much as the older ones, but maybe that's just me getting older lol

The new battlefronts weren’t really like the old ones. I was pretty disappointed in them and for the new battlefront 1 to only have galactic civil war and really no instant action or anything like that was brutal. No excuse for those choices. Honestly someone needs to to mash the 2004 and 05 battlefronts together with todays graphics, bigger battles and Ragdoll deaths. Boom biggest selling game of all time.

Why did they think people wanted a token system to get vehicles when it would be way more fun to just find a vehicle and ride it? Why did they remove the hanger sections from space battles? Why did they make the battles so much more small scale? It’s like they didn’t realise what made the originals fun and thought it was just fun to do a Star Wars war simulator

This is Asypr’s year for remastered games. First they gave us Tomb Raider 1-3 remastered. Now we’re getting another classic game series. Back to back months for great games. This is what we needed (they also did the ports of Jedi Academy and Jedi Outcast to modern consoles)

So excited. This was my child hood. I played these both on the original xbox and would always come back from time to time since then but never thought they would do this. Loved all the game modes back then too very hyped to play online matches! The map loading screens, space battles with a massive ship on each team that you have to take out to win, and even the classic battlefront with some of the coolest maps updated for bf2. Im super pumped for both of these classics Absolutely insane

Played the ps2 game split screen in instant action so much as a kid. Hell.. unreal tournament, championship, quake 3, tribes etc etc. So many games people think of as online competition focused were ones I played offline cooperatively against bots with friends and had a blast.

I started out playing these OG Battlefront games on PS2, which I still have access to and still have my old memory card. I also grew up playing the Force Unleashed PS2 version which is one of my favorites. I'm on Xbox and i still play Battlefront 2 on there alot, especially on my favorite map which is Jabbas Palace. Im looking forward to getting this new addition.

As one of the OG Xbox olds who didn't have access to Xbox Live back in the day, I'm just excited to finally have the extra content available that I was missing out on. These are part of what I and probably most others consider the peak era of Star Wars games. The late 90s to about the late 2000s was monumental for Star Wars games.

Man, can you imagine if the team can get some properly paid devs behind it, and they can fully implement unfinished content that was never playable in the original games? Like, Jedi Hunt on Coruscant like from the Campain, or Gamorean Hunt on Jabba’s Palace, Or Red Royal Guard hunt on Death Star which was supposed to be in the game but was cut, or even Clone Hunt like from the campaign, where Imperial Stormtroopers fought the Clone Uprising on Kamino. Or make more planets have a 3rd, native faction that can hold command posts, like how Naboo Plains has the Gungans, Naboo Theed has the Royal Naboo Guards, Geonosis has the Geonosians, Tattooine Dune Sea has the Tusken Raiders. They could make it so that Tattooine Mos Eisely has the Jawas, Jabba’s Palace has the Gamorean Guards, Endor has the Ewoks. It’d be great to see the Red Royal Guards fighting along side the Empire on Death Star. I’d also love to see most if not ALL of the maps from Battlefront 1, ported to Battlefront 2, like what they did with Jabba’s Palace, Bespin Cloud City, Yavin 4 Arena, and both Rhen Var maps. I’d love to play on Kashyyyk Docks, Kashyyyk Island, Naboo Plains, And Bespin Platforms. Oh, and finish off the old Ben Kenobi skin that they were going to give to Obi-Wan, Han is playable on other maps, so they can make Kenobi the Rebel Alliance’s hero on Mos Eisely. Or better yet, if they ported Dune Sea over, have Old Ben Kenobi be the Rebel’s here there! Lastly, bring back the Starfighters that can fly around the battle. Battlefront 2 even added giant Anti-Air cannons, but then scrapped the Starfighters in Ground modes all together. And for the love of god, give us transports again. I loved being able to load up a transport on Bespin Platforms or Geonosis Spire, and then fly it across the map and land deep behind enemies lines with up to 7 other AI units there to back me up as we took the Command Post.

First thing I'm going to do is try experiencing the online multiplayer since I never got to back in the PS2 days (and the version that's already on steam is tricky for it) but to be able to go back again to all the old maps play Galactic Conquest and Story mode is going to be so much fun. Hoping the first day to get on early and play as much as I can and go from there.

@berg Ya unfortunately the average base game here starts at $89.99. With the high tax we have in Toronto Ontario we pay about $102 for a game. So having a game like Helldivers that feels AAA and is half the price feels amazing. I hope some of these AAA devs lose business or maybe take notes from this

One thing I do miss that I feel won’t be revived is couch co-op. Some games still have it, namely Nintendo titles, but it feels gone from most titles. Regardless, I intend to grab this collection and have a fun trip down memory lane.

I’ll have to keep an eye out for reviews but I own the 2 games bought through the Xbox store about a year ago (I think heavily discounted on sale). I was wondering if there’s anything that I’d be getting from purchasing this over just playing what I have. I really hope there's NEW maps/heroes. The modding community has done so much with these games, I'd love to see some of that implemented. Sequel Era, Clone Wars, the Squadron Games. Love to see more content.

I think there is going to be a few battlefront 1 maps optimized for battlefront 2 and added to its map pool and possibly like 1 or 2 maps that were in the files for battlefront 2 but werent added to the original game in the end. Not sure about any maps for BF1. Other then that i dont think its supposed to be a crazy amount but even so depending on how popular the game is they might update it a bit in the future and maybe some of the mods for different eras you have seen might be looked at for that

I was an '03 child so I never played these games...*but* I heard people talk about them *all the time* as a kid. I'm not so much a Star Wars fan, but I was always curious to play these games. I'm definitely going to pick them up when they release. The aerial combat and the big scale battles look awesome

They boyz are back in town! As an average battlefront enjoyer myself i really appreciate the work Aspyr has done and continues to do with old Star Wars games. I sincerely hope this will bring attention to the psp games as well.

I'm pumped! Can't wait to get back into galactic conquest but will it be available to play splits screen on PC or online with a friend? Playing against a friend always made it a lot of fun

Four years ago, I bought a preowned Xbox One X just for Star Wars Battlefront II. I bought a PS Vita a year later just for the PSP version on the go. When this Classic Collection was announced, I cried because I was so happy this game is returning on the Switch and the PS5/PS4. I will be buying versions for the PS4, Nintendo Switch, and I’ll be buying a PS5 just for this game! And if they release physical games, I’ll be buying digital and physical copies on the mentioned platforms. Dude, this is huge because I’ll be buying like 7 copies of this game because that’s how much I love the OG Star Wars Battlefront games!

I got so hyped when I saw this announcement. What’s even crazier is the night before at work I was telling a coworker about this game as we were working and talking bout old games. Then I wake up the next day and saw the classics announcement.

It's been available for Xbox one and also series x for a number of years now, it was games on games with gold in 2019 or 2020 but no online multi-player. I'm so excited to put those years of playing bf2 to the test for a real challenge

Aspyr needs to give us a 3rd one, done like the OGs. But with no micro transactions etc, but give us updates here an there adding new maps, new characters etc.
