This, Jedi Outcast and Academy, Rogue Leader, Republic Commando, KotOR, and even the Clone Wars game made the early 2000s the best time for Star Wars games. There's been good games since (like Force Unleashed and Fallen Order), but no where near the amount of back to back bangers like we had during that time.
@xanzibar3 жыл бұрын
@@dreamerabe Star wars was so good back then, the first 2 prequel movies were weak imo but the stuff around it like books, games and shows (both clone wars shows, robot chicken specials) were so good. Honestly I know more people who love the stuff around it more than the movies. George Lucas cared about Star Wars and let people make it better. He let people use his world and creations to make great stories and adventures. He probably wishes disney honored the verbal agreement that they would listen to his input.
@dreamerabe3 жыл бұрын
@@xanzibar Definitely. I even loved the first two prequel movies as well. They had their problems (especially the first one), but at least they had heart and respected the mythology. The books and games definitely carried the franchise at that point and time, just as the Mandalorian carries today. On a side note, it was pretty remarkable how well they stayed in their own lane from a story perspective; plots and characters were original, but every writing team seemed to make sure to tie in the preexisting species, weapons, settings, and so on; this is something the new trilogy seemed allergic to.

Moana’s dad is a really cool bounty hunter
@Hexumonium3 жыл бұрын
I agree with you completely about the bounty hunting mechanic. Jango is way too vulnerable when marking targets. In a game titled "Bounty Hunter" you would think that there would have been more care put into this gameplay element. I like your idea about targets being marked from the start, but an optional EMP area of effect scanner similar to the one in Horizon Zero Dawn would have been nice too. This would allow you to run around and scan nearby targets simultaneously.

It can't all be easy. Half the challenge was having to actually find the bounties. It is what bounty hunters do. People want games to play themselves for them,. Not me

I remember getting to the last level and giving up because it was too dark and the only thing I could see were their red eyes as they ran at you. I remember that level being terrifying as a kid. I didn't know about brightness adjust on my tv. I remember Jango being just the biggest badass ever the whole game and I loved all the parts where you were running around on places like coruscant where there were neutral npcs to interact with and bounties to find when people were constantly shooting at you.
@MerryMrMassacre3 жыл бұрын
Jango's jetpack malfunctioned/was broken when he was facing Mace Windu, so there was no getting away for him. If you look at the footage you can see sparks coming from the jetpack and the vents of the jetpack trying to fire up. He was trapped on the ground against a superhuman space wizard.

This game truly is a childhood classic to me when I played it growing up on the gamecube. It's like everything you described, the game was hard as hell to play! Especially with the weird ass platforming and how the enemies just swarm your ass in every corner, barely giving you time to haul ass and take cover from enemy blaster fire. This game truly was one of the best star wars games at the time despite the flaws it has. Funny story GMAN, you mentioned something about how frustrating it was in the review about getting farther into a level only to restart it from a super early moment within the level after you get killed by enemies. For me it was like that times 10 because when I first had the game and played it, we didn't have a memory card to put into the gamecube to save progress (yet) in the early years of me and my siblings owning the console (it belonged to my sister. She got it for Christmas. While I got the PlayStation 2 and my brother got the OG xbox. Also on Christmas). So due to the lack of a memory card. Every single day when I played bounty hunter and got farther into the game by passing certain levels, whenever it was time to turn off the gamecube, all my progress would be gone in a heartbeat! And I needed to start from level 1 all over again! And it was like that every. Single. Frustrating. Damn. Day!!! Thankfully we invest in getting one, and luckily those issues were put to rest. So I completely get the frustration, but the pain was doubled for me! 😂 Either way nice review dude, and thanks for renewing my nostalgia for this game. I was just thinking about it a few hrs ago in the morning and then unexpectedly you dropped a review about it. Thanks for renewing my memories! 👍😎👍

fyi the reason Jango doesn't fly away from Mace Windu in AOTC is because his jet pack is frazzled from tussling with one of the arena animals. You see it being damaged, then when Mace is swinging for him you see the jet pack try to ignite and fail. He's trying to flee but his gadget failed on him at the worst time.

5:24 Dude the Reek (alien rhino thing) stomped on Jango and broke his jetpack. Jango tried to escape but his jetpack was too damaged. Which is also reminiscent of Boba's jetpack getting busted by Han Solo by accident. I def think Jango could have gotten more screen time, but I would say that about so many SW characters.

Jango attempted to use his jetpack to escape Mace's swing but his jetpack was damaged. You can see it misfire if you watch the scene over again. His error was being to dependent on his jetpack.

I remember giving this a shot and it kicked my ass, a lot, especially since I had to take routes that really didn't seem right in a game. It was difficult and unrelenting, but somehow, I beat the whole game, as a kid no less who was playing games for my new playstation 2 that caught my eye and star wars Is right up there. Most certainly one of the best start wars games I ever played, right up there alongside battlefield 2, ORIGINAL mind you, Jedi outcast and Republic commando. Everyone, play the classic star wars games, to experience star wars as it truly is, not what had become of it now. This Is The way.

I played through the game on the PS2 and beat it. Back in 2006, a someone created a fan edit of the whole game into a well done movie format of gameplay and cut scenes. They also included plenty of extras, like the making-of, artwork and lots of other material. I still have a copy burnt to DVD.

Sometimes bounties were worth more dead than alive. Meeko who you capture alive in the first chapter is transferred the the prison and during one of the levels in which the prisoners escape you can encounter Meeko again and see that he has a huge bounty for dead, while 0 for being alive.

I can’t remember whether this was the first video game I played or not. I remember my dad got a GameCube and this game in like 2003 or 4 and we played this a lot but never got super far. Probably didn’t help that I didn’t understand how saving and chapter select worked at the time. Cool to see you reviewing it, like you said it really reminds you of a bygone era.
