So we’re going to talk about Jedi: Survivor, the awesome new canon game that's a sequel to fallen order. I know some of you like to keep up on all Star wars canon, but maybe you; 're not gamers. Or, maybe you have played the game but you just want to learn about some of the easter eggs. So we are here to recap the game’s story and talk about some of the really cool star wars references.
After years of waiting and a few development delays, Cal Kestis is finally back on the mantis in Jedi Survivor. The game is an absolute blast, and we would highly recommend it to any star wars fan out there. The storyline alone is not only a better version of the entire Kenobi plot, but it also has big implications for the star wars universe at large.
Doug: I've been dying to know what happens!
Have you not been playing?
Doug: I don't have any thumbs, man.
Oh that's right, well, in that case, let’s talk about the plot of Jedi Survivor and what its story means for the star wars universe - for all our thumbless viewers.

The game opens in Coruscant - a seamless transition from the start screen. [clip] Cal is surrounded by guards- two of which are KLATOOINIAN, almost always presented as bad guys - [clip] who have detained Cal and are bringing him in for questioning by a galactic senator [clip]
Turns out, Cal was actually pulling a fast one, [clip] and reveals that the crew that took him there are actually on his side [clip]
Here's where we meet Bode - One of Cal’s new companions that he's become close with over the years.[clip] He’s equipped with a blaster and a jetpack and is basically the Han to Cal’s Luke. [clip]
We also meet a few other members, including the Klatooinian twins - Koob and Lizz [clip]
Doug: OH - so the dog-faced people aren't ALWAYS the bad guys - SEE- you shouldn't judge a person by their canine-like appearance.
Okay, fine, maybe not all KLATOOINIANs are bad - anyways
Turns out - they're all a part of Saw Gererra’s crew, and they're on a mission to obtain info from the senator on the emperor and the imperial army.[clip]
They find the senator and use some good ole Jedi gaslighting to get him to produce the information they needed [clip] - a map showing them the locations of all the Imperial forces. And they are EVERYWHERE.[clip]
Doug: It sounds bad when you call it “Jedi Gaslighting”
It is what it is - As Cal exits the ship, the crew is surrounded by the Empire, [clip] and the senator asks what took them so long but is stopped mid-sentence by an inquisitor’s lightsaber- [clip] one that belongs to Darth Shrek.[clip]
Doug: That can't be her real name.
Of course not, it's the Ninth Sister, our old friend from the last game, who’s rocking a new ruby-red limb, [clip] after Cal handed it to her the last time they meet.[clip]
Doug: What is it with star wars and cutting off people's hands…
For real - nearly all of his crew are shot [clip]- which really pisses Cal off [clip]- and starts off a long overdue rematch. [clip] He gives the inquisitor one last chance to head back in the right direction, [clip] but she refuses so Cal removes her head altogether.[clip]
Cal and Bode manage to escape with the intelligence and get it back to Saw Gerrera, but the Mantis takes some damage on the way out.[clip]
Since Cal can't just show up anywhere, being one of the empire's most wanted and all - [clip] he decides to head to the Koboh system to take the Mantis back to the person who knows it best - Greez Dritus.
After a very rough landing [clip] - we look for Greez in the saloon, which is where we meet this fine fellow - Glup Shiito [clip]
Doug: What Wait - he’s real? #glupshitto confirmed?
Nah, just kidding - his name is Turgle (turh - gul) and he’s the alien comedic relief that Jar Jar was supposed to be. [clip]
He's being interrogated by bedlam raiders led by a Gen'dai (ghen - die) named Rayvis ( Rehy - viss) after a secret device Turgle gave them turned out to be a fake.[clip]
Doug: Wait, what's a Gen’dai?
Glad you asked because the game doesn't go into much detail on this.

if dooku could he would stand up from his grave and beat the crap out of cal for doing 2nd form nasty like... it'd make sense that cal is kinda clumsy in 2nd form though probably picked it up very late course cere's teaching.

SpiderWraith mentioned it before, but I also want to reiterate that Cere didn't start the Hidden Path. Merrin came upon it in her travels and alerted Cere, who decided to help. So she didn't exactly start it but did push it along

If you go back through the different planets after you defeat Bode you can find force Echos of Bodes secret transmissions with the empire mostly on Koboh and Jedha is where I’ve found them

Plus if his story’s true. I so want a comic on that. Him fighting a dread pirate on top of an elder purgle most likely a machriark (aka it’s bigger than a medium sized starship) using mostly fishing equipment and a spear. That’s a fight

I keep thinking about that answer Dave gave in an interview when asked why we don't see Grogu or Din further in time in the movies. He said "maybe they're in another place" or something like that. Maybe that place is Tanalorr. I love seeing the SW universe being expanded instead of shrinking it by bringing again and again the same villains, the same places or places that look exactly the same as Tattooine, for instance.

so we know that Bode was part of a special intelligence-based team of Jedi during the Clone Wars and that’s how he was able to go off grid. combining this with the theory that Luthen is a Jedi in Andor, could it be possible that Luthen was also part of that team of clandestine Jedi during the Clone Wars?

and building off of that, since Luthen and Saw have a close relationship, could it be possible Cal could pop up during season 2 of Andor? would be sick to see him and his saber in live action

I think its a big stretch and even though cal could be connected there long time viewers and normal fans that didnt play the game would raise so many questions on whos this random jedi and why is he here. I also think that because of that they want to keep it for little easter eggs and more so linear in the story like in the obi wan series.

Merrin's cloaking spell is a Nightsister ritual she did in the last game when going to the fortress. The Shroud maguffin is revealed to be impossible to make with current technology in the book.

Might be obscure, but during their escapade through the sand storm Merrin says "sith spit". A phrase Kyle Katarn from the jedi outcast series says this a lot.

I don't play games at all, but I have gotten really invested in this character/story and so have watched several videos of the cut scenes for both games (if Cal ever shows up in live action I will absolutely lose my mind) and both games have moments that have literally made me tear up or cry. It's almost not fair that only gamers really get to experience this story! There's also so much other stuff you could mention, especially as it relates to Cal's inner journey with balancing attachment, his fears of losing himself to 'the fight', how both Dagan and Bode represent foils/potential futures for Cal (regarding his obsession with his mission, and attachment, respectively), his relationship with Merrin/changing view of Jedi ethics and the fact that Cal uses the dark side in game as part of the boss fight. I'm not even exaggerating when I say this is some of my favorite Star Wars content of all time, and Cal is a Luke-tier level character for me. (I'm honestly terrified of what they might do to him if they do make a third one as they have hinted at.) The only thing I wasn't super fond of was the reveal that Bode was a Jedi all along (the mole part trying to make a deal for his daughter was fine) as that just felt like a tad too far, especially because the Inquisitors already represent that trope of the Jedi turning into the things they fought against. How awesome would it be if Kenobi's Corran Horn ended up on Tantalor :) I do also like the idea of seeing perhaps some children of the Path showing up later on in the movie with Rey (or even Cal himself).

I just finished this game it was easily one of my favorites. It beats Jedi Fallen Order and I enjoyed that game. The story was really good and I can’t wait to see Cal and Merrin train Kata. Hopefully we get a third game with them bringing in the Ghost Crew. It would be cool to see Cal interact with Kanan and Ezra.

I think Disney should make a show for Cal. It can be set after the first game and before the second. Just some random adventures or more backstory for characters. Cal has psychometry ability which I think would be cool to expand the lore.

Nah I think they should have him appear in someone else’s show or movie if they’re gonna do that AT ALL, & just keep his story as gameplay for now. I think they intend to have it as a trilogy of games (which I really hope is the case) But then after they come to the conclusion of his 3 games, maybe add him into someone else’s show for a cameo for an episode or 2. If not give him his own show but give him his show with another character as well so it’s not just ONLY following Cals story anymore.

Just finished the story last night! This was a fantastic game! It's visuals, story, and gameplay are amazing and better than Fallen Order! Definitely recommend playing this if you're a huge Star Wars fan! 🙂👏 FYI: Cal and Merrin being a couple is the best since Han and Leia!

Very much excited to where the next game will go. Survivor completely blew me out of the water. If they time skip another 5 years, they would put them right at the last season of Rebels. Maybe we’ll get to see the Ghost Crew again?

Knew Bode was a spy from the get-go. He was NEW to Cal's crew (Cal did NOT know him for years). Plus, where is his daughter...being held by the Empire, that's where. The whole game I was screaming, "Why are you trusting this new guy throwing side-eye Cal?" And how is Merrin, let alone Cal, NOT getting bad vibes from Bode?

Cal and Merrin weren't able to tell because Bode was literally a jedi spy. You find force echoes of Bode practicing his deceit and workshopping which seeds to plant in Cal and how to emotionally manipulate him

the Jedi Survivor story was absouletlyyyy insaneeee honestly. i loved every minute it tbh. so many plot twists i wasnt expecting. some absouletly insaneeee action sequences which i absouletly loved. definitely worth the 70$, as well as the huge ratings that everyones been giving it

Yup, I thought Master Cordova had been dead, but I was surprised to see him alive. But yeah, having 3 good Jedi alive was too good to be true. The story took a complete turn when Dagan died so early, opps he was not the final boss. Jedi Survivor is definitely one of the most best written Star Wars stories post-Disney. I kept hearing that they were too ambitious with this game, bad graphics and all, but it did not disappoint story wise.

Best scene in the game is when Cal asks Merrin if the kiss she gave him was for luck. Flashforward to another scene in Episode IV when Leia kisses Luke and then says "For Luck."

I just finished this game on PC and loved it! Fallen Order was great too. I would love for Cal/Cameron Monaghan to make a live action appearance in any of the SW shows/movies. Hell, i'd love to see Starkiller/Galen Marek/Sam Whitwer make a live action appearance as well.

I can't help but think that "Rick, the Door Technician," being presented as a boss character who blocks the way to a path you HAVE to go down, yet can be beaten in only one or two hits, is a reference to the Elden ring meme about the very first boss you fight, the Soldier of Godrick. A character that fans of the game have ironically(and somewhat affectionately) dubbed "The Soldier of God, Rick." Much like the door technician guy, he's standing in the way of a path you HAVE to go down in order to leave, he's presented like a boss character, and you can also beat him in a couple of hits.

I was just happy to see a love story (Cal and Merrin) that wasn't tainted by typical jedi tropes, like Cal shouldn't do it because it goes against the order. The orders gone and with it their ridiculous teachings. Also Skoova Stev is definitely a joke on Scuba Steve.

when you said that dark vador fight was one of the hardest in the game, I was like "I did it in two times, it wasn't that hard". But for real, the fight with Bode on tanalor is just insanely hard. For real, I died around 40 times to beat this treator.

I'm 44% trough the game. Didn't want to restart but I had forgotten alot of the story casue I've not played in a while. The last thing I rememeber is Merrin Kissing Cal halfway through a long playable running away section. I needed this. Thank you.

I have an interesting and challenging idea for "villains that was right" type of video. Stormfront from "the boys" was right. I dont mean the hole nazi thing, but specifically the line "People love what i have to say. They believe in it. They just dont like the word nazi.". I think it would be a cool video.

The best part of the game is Dagan being flabbergasted that this is the empire that took down the order. I would've loved him to run into Vader

Very impressed with the game. Don't think we'll see an interaction with obiwan, unless a brief cameo. More likely to see the planet in ahsoka? Or the rey film.

Luckily we will see Cal in the next season of the Mandalorian. Although I am a bit confused about the Anakin 2.0, he is not supposed to have relationships. I wonder if the new order of Jedi will be less strict.

15:13, This is only review I have watched so far which truly explains what the story was trying to achieve. The motivations of a Jedi in a survival world! Kudos👍🏾

Was it actually Bode who gave up the Hidden Path on Jedha? It felt to me that Vader and the Inquisitorious attacked Cere, not the ISB and Denvik clearly has a chip on his shoulder about being better than the Inquisitorious. After all, this is around the same time as Kenobi, where Vader did capture a Hidden Path safehouse/waypoint. Would seem more like Vader used that intel, and not ISB intel to find Jedha.

Yeah, i think so. Bode reported the archive on Jeda to the ISB, obiously, and somehow this intel found its way to Vader and the inquisitors, who immediatly attacked them in full force.

Yep, you can find a force echo of Bode informing the Imperial Force of the archive location, multiple Jedi in the facility, and tell them to notify the Inquisitors. He didn’t report this to Denvik and the ISB. Denvik was also killed by Vader after the story. Probably for hiding a Jedi and a potential force-sensitive kid in the base.

4:12 I'm not a gamer, I've only gotten into Star Wars in a big way since May, and I've been a Trekkie more or less since kindergarten (30+ years). This reminds me of the Romulan "It's a faaaake!" guy from DS9. :)
