Please keep up the amazing work, I'm super looking forward to your take on the remaining Legion sets. Not only are all your videos awesome for the subject; I have found they are also great for the concepts. Love the 2 separate types of camo application and design. These can be used together separately and with different colors to change how I do camo from now on. No matter how often you do something (or how well you think you're doing it,) leave it Sorastro to show you that you've been doing it wrong. He would say it's simply an alternative way to do it, but, we both know its almost always just better plain and simple. Thanks for all the inspiration you provide.

I'm following along with/being inspired by this guide now but at 4:28 your bugmans glow and mine are SO different! Mine is much darker and redder, almost leaning towards a bruise colour... maybe they changed it over the years since our bottle labels are different too... my test dude looks like he has been in a tanning bed way too long lol. Will need to mix it to lighten it up a lot. But with the confidence I've gotten from watching your tutorials I think I can manage it!

How do you keep your brush tips SO perfectly crisp and sharp? I use good brushes, but I rarely get such a pinpoint tip for detail work like you seem to have throughout your highlighting phase. I'd love to see you load the brush and sculpt the bristles for your surgically precise painting strokes you exhibit with seamless effort. Amazing accuracy and precision in another inspiring video.
@Sorastro
@Sorastro 6 жыл бұрын
Hi John! I like to use the Rosemary & Co Series 33 Size 2 precisely because it does have quite a fine tip - even after the abuse I give it, it tends to shed a few bristles over time and become even thinner. Regarding the loading of the brush, I usually include a few shots in the videos - after mixing the colour I want - where I then switch to my painting brush and collect some paint, and often give it a small twist on the palette to help maintain the point. You can see me doing so here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Z7WGoaZ31pfOYGg.htmlm1s :)

I like the forest and desert camo looks that many use for their rebel troopers. However i really would like to see someone take on a color scheme meant for all enviroments. Like maybe a light greyish camo instead of the bright green.

I wasn't sure that the purple and green would work on the Duros, but the purple works nicely to break up the green uniform. I'm pretty sure I'd stop at the shade stage for rank and file troops!

As always, your work is inspiring to watch. The technique of wetting down the surface before applying the paint not only worked well for blurring the shapes of the camouflage pattern, it also diffused and faded the colors making the whole thing more realistic overall. Any plans to perhaps paint some Warhammer Underworlds: Shadespire miniatures in the future? I'd very much enjoy seeing what you do with them.

Thank you so much! Regarding Shadespire - my schedule is a little full at the moment but I never say never.. :)

I'm going to have steal the colour list for the urban camo. I want to do something with that palette to ships. Though, I have to ask, anyone ever tried painting a ship so it looked like it was crossing the terminator line from night to day?

Sorastro, you've been the thing that's gotten me through this painting project. Double box of Legion plus the ATST, T47, extra bikes, and Veers. I may not be painting most of the models in your style, but watching and listening has made me a better painter, and I've employed many, many of your techniques. I'm starting to run out of paint, though, and I'm looking at picking up a set to make life easy. Is there one in particular you'd recommend, as far as starter sets to cover my bases (figuratively)?
@Sorastro
@Sorastro 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot Stephen! I generally recommend buying the individual colours you think you'll need for a specific project; that way you won't be paying for colours you might not ever get round to using. You can then expand your collection gradually from there.. :)

Was that #2 brush used for all the painting? Or did you go to a finer brush for some of the smaller stuff? Also, do you have a palette you'd recommend? I've just used paper plates with the glossy finish on it so far.
@DDCRExposed
@DDCRExposed 6 жыл бұрын
From the looks of the video, I believe he stuck with the #2 the entire time. He does use a different brush to mix in his palette though so as not to ruin his nicer brushes. For more intricate details though (eyes for instance) a 1, 0, or 0/3 brush could be helpful. I generally stick to brushes between 0-2 myself.
