Great match guys! Things were looking a little grim for Jason at first with that bus eating all those hits. Crit shopping paid off in the end though with a two for one special that took out Ashoka too. I can't wait to see what happens next!

Why wouldn't they use shields to cancel those crits when the droideka is being attacked? They don't have repair, it's not like they're gonna get a better opportunity to avoid damage later, but they are gonna miss an opportunity to regen the shields for free. Am I missing something?

The idea is you roll to see if you can block before using shields as long as it would never result in a unit being removed. So if you know you’re taking multiple attacks in a round the first attack or two depending how you roll you roll for it then you start eating your shields away. That’s one line of thought on how to use shields with them. Most of the players and tournaments use them that way. Not the only way just one way. Thanks for watching! -Joe

Good match. Learning here - help me understand why he rolled instead of used shields on the Droidekas (at just before 13 minutes). You mentioned that he wouldn't lose one because only two hits were coming through, I get that, but why not use the shields? Was there a real possibility of more hits coming through that round?

There could have been more shots on them, but it’s more a habit to form to only use shields to save a unit instead of just relying on them

At 38:38, Jason rolled 4 hits and 1 crit, would the normal hits not get eaten up by the shields first (-2), and then impact 2 kicks in for the rest, so Brian would have to roll for 3 then? Or does armor cancel the hits before the shields? Which is a bit awkward in the way shields should work.

Shields are used at the same time as Dodge tokens, and can be used to cancel hits or crits, defender’s choice. With full armor it makes no sense to use the shields on hits that will be removed from armor later in the sequence

I guess this is what happens when you bring two heavy "bring your close range powerful attack units" into an army... and then don't use them for that purpose. Rebel player had a "get in his face" list, and... just kind of stood there.

experimental droids are headed for a balancing I think, you can take them to the bank they can literally shop for the crits after. Dice pools in legion have just gotten so big now.... armor vehicles just can't hold out. Troops can't hold out.
