The line in which Anakin says that Grievous is shorter than he expected implied that they had never met before, so when making the animated series they had to write it so that Grievous and Anakin would never meet. This is why Obi-Wan fights him so much instead. Even Ahsoka met Grievous before Anakin did.

By the way Kit Fisto actually died from another reason besides being overwhelmed. He sensed Anakin approaching and that distraction gave Palpatine an opening to take him out. So if Anakin stayed in baby jail, Mace and Fisto could have taken out Palpatine together.

Here is a no so fun fact that made me burst into tears. During the Order 66 scene with Yoda on Kashyyk, we see Gree attempt to execute Yoda alongside another Clone Scout Trooper and then both being decapitated. That other Scout Trooper is Jek, one of the three Clone Troopers that accompanies Yoda on the very first episode of the Clone Wars. We see that he actually listened and took Yoda's advice by actually retraining and becoming a Scout Trooper, the division of clones whose primary focus is reconnaissance and using their environment to their advantage in battle as opposed to firepower. Just goes to show the tragedy that is Order 66. Yoda literally changed Jek's life for the better, and now here is Jek being consumed by an unconscious desire to kill him.

@taiwandxt6493

@@logan3093 Yeah, I can never look at that scene the same way, nor can I look at the "Ambush" episode the same way. That information about Jek came from a book which gives further context to episodes of the Clone Wars and their aftermath. In it, we know that all three clones listened to Yoda and their fates. I'll share all three of them alongside Yoda's advice. "Rys, always focusing on the enemy are you. For inspiration, look to yourself and those beside you." Rys would end up surviving until the last year of the Clone Wars, in which he followed Yoda's advice, sacrificing himself in an explosion to save his squamates. "Jek, concerned about weapons you are. Weapons do not win battles. Your mind, powerful it is. Outthink the droids, you can!" Jek would follow this advice, leaving the Coruscant Guard and retraining to become a Clone Scout Trooper, a division of Clones that specialize in reconnaissance. He would eventually rise to the rank of Captain. He is decapitated by Yoda when order 66 is issued alongside Commander Gree, attempting to kill the person that fundamentally altered the course of his life. "Thire, rush not into fights. Long is the war. Only by surviving it, will you prevail." We see Thire taking this advice somewhat indirectly from what we understand, because he survives the entirety of the Clone Wars. He eventually becomes a Commander in the Coruscant Guard. We see him in Revenge of the Sith after the duel between Yoda vs Sidious. He is the center clone that reports Yoda missing. Again, he is trying to kill the man that changed his life.

It's easy to poke fun at Yoda for being so quick to kill the Clone troopers when Ahsoka wasn't willing too, but Ahsoka got off light on order 66 in a way because even though though tried to kill her, her perspective on their innocence remained intact. Yoda and Obiwan meanwhile were fighting those troopers over the cold corpses of decades old friends, students and children.

Yoda also didn't have that much of a personal attachment to the Clones like Ahsoka. You can make the argument about Obi-Wan but Obi-Wan understands that he needs to put his personal feelings toward them aside.

1. I love the detail that, in the Clone Wars series, Anakin and Grievous never interact. A decision made specifically to abide by this movie's timeline 2. Revenge of the Sith is easily one of the most *meme-filled* movies ever made. And even though its definetly alredy the best of the prequels, its permanently elevated by the fact that its forever etched in the internet hall of fame lol 3. The conversation at 13:30 is arguibly the best one in the movie. It has *so many* implications crammed into it while also feeling like a story that's clearly been changed just enough to poke at Anakin's insecurities *specifically* 4. The final lightsaber duels, are honestly just plain epic. They go on for a bit too long, but the choreography is generally amazing.

Too long? My brother, Yoda v Palpatine was way too SHORT, and Anakin v Obi-Wan was just right and had the perfect amount of scenery, movement, emotions, and the PERFECT music to accompany it. One thing I’ve always loved about the end of Anakin v Obi-Wan is how slow both of them begin to move. They’ve been fighting for an extended period of time, they are both tired, and you can FEEL that by the end of the fight, which makes their fight seem all the more real. It is hands down the best lightsaber duel in Star Wars, the most epic sword duel in all of film, and one of the best fight scenes of all time. I would not change a thing about it (though I’d make Palpatine and Yodas fight go on for a while longer bc of how epic it was as well).

The Clone Wars and now Tales of the Jedi and the Bad Batch give Episodes 2 and 3 and the whole series really so much more weight. To see why Grievous had a cough, you need to watch "Clone Wars 2D"... It is basically a shorter version of "Clone Wars"... The two shows take place in about the same time frame, but 2D has scenes/stories that the newer "Clone Wars" doesn't cover... But... It was made BEFORE "Revenge of the Sith"... The show is basically 2 full length movies... Best part of the 2D is that Grievous is at the very TOP of his game... Also the introduction of Ventress, Anakin becoming a knight, and how he gets the scar on his face...

The fact that when this movie premiered, Ahsoka and Rex weren't characters that even existed yet. The final season of Clone Wars ended as a perfect parallel alongside this film. One interesting detail is the fact that in comparison to Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones, the battle droids are much more verbal in this movie and have more a comedic tone to them too. There's actually a reason for this in the lore which also factored into why the droids in the Clone Wars series are much more outspoken and funnier. Droids tend to develop personalities if they don't receive regular memory wipes. Since B1s and Super Battle Droids were designed with quantity over quality in mind, the Separatists likely didn't bother with frequent memory wipes to save costs. They originally wanted the battle droid armies to always be remotely controlled from one command ship (like in Episode 1) but after they saw how that turned out after Episode 1, they needed a new solution. Newer models of droids were given more autonomous functions. They became actual, intelligent droids instead of automatons. They are just intelligent enough to display some personality traits, but dumb enough that their personality is childish and clumsy. When more orders came in for independently functioning droids after the Naboo debacle, the Trade Federation had to scramble to acquire enough droid brains to fulfill the order. As a result the B-series battle droids ended up with a whole assortment of cheap processors designed for worker droids, protocol droids, and whatever else Baktoid could purchase in bulk, all rather crudely reprogrammed for combat. Fun fact for Episode 2: It also partly explains why C-3PO's head is almost plug-and-play compatible with the B1 body and vice versa when his body and head got swapped with a battle droid during the arena fight.

21:24 "Baby I love you but i wont murder children for you." genuinely made me smile and laugh way harder than I was expecting. Anyway, interesting fact, the reason why the little boy recoils back in the scene when Anakin ignites his saber is because Hayden surprised him by yelling, "Boo!" when filming that. 21:32 And the Jedi padawan who was gunned down in front of Bail Organa is Zett Jukassa who was actually played by Jett Lucas. George Lucas' son. You can also see him appear in the background when Obi-Wan sits in the archives and is looking up Kamino. After Madame Jocasta says that Kamino doesn't exist, she walks away to talk with Zett before the scene cuts. 28:42 Not only was it painful, but Palpatine ordered the medical team not to use any anesthesia at all when Anakin was being treated. He wanted Anakin to feel all of the pain from the operation. He purposefully made the first version of the Vader suit to be slow, heavy, and clunky so that in combat, he would be frustrated and enraged whenever he felt weighed down. Vader would use all of his rage and hate to channel the dark side.

The Star Was Clone Wars 2D Micro-Series is often overlooked and very worth watching. In their original form they were 3-5-minute episodes shown between other programing on Cartoon Network. It filled in the blanks between the last movie and this one. If you watched them, you had context for the Jedi that fell in this movie and a lot of other events throughout it. It also provided the explanation for General Grievous' wheezing and coughing. This was the first glimpse we got of Grievous prior to the movie. When they started writing and animating the series, they just had rough descriptions of him, and they made him a total badass. Much more dynamic and threatening. Lucas decided Grievous needed to be a prototype Vader and imperfect so the way he was being portrayed wasn't going to work. They ended up giving him a grievous chest wound in a scene that took place just before this movie started.

Count how many times he does a dramatic slow head turn in the Opera scene.

So Anakin normally wouldn't be too bothered by not being granted the rank of master but what he wanted was access to the restricted section of the jedi archives. Being a master grants you access and he wanted access to that knowledge so he could find a way to prevent Padmes death. Palpatine knew the council wouldn't give him that rank as well so they played right into his hands. He also preyed on the council's arrogance in betraying Anakins trust. They may not have been keeping score but the jedi greatly betrayed his trust twice in the clone wars. Him being lied to about Obi-wan's death and the false grieving, and how they treated Ahsoka despite everything she did for the order. It was the perfect chance for Palpatine to goad Anakin to his side. Hypothetically if the jedi weren't so arrogant and saw the writing on the wall they could have did him that one favor to mend some of the damaged trust they had caused. And if not an advanced form of Force heal he would have eventually stumbled upon sith records of their ability to implant dreams in people to manipulate them. Then he would have put two and two together.

For me, the Jedi council, pushed A LOT Anakin to the dark side. They´re afraid of him, never truly trusted him, never gave him any serious mission... and mixed with Anakin fears (mostly for Padme) and feeling himself always excluded... the final step was all the Emperor´s manipulation during years but... the Jedi Council had big part of responsibility in this disaster. Even in the last chance he said the truth to Windu. Anakin tried and tried to follow the right path, but all these things became him in Darth Vader.

Not sure if you guys have already seen it, but you should check out the original animated Clone Wars. Originally they were 2-3 min episodes which ended with the first viewing of Grievous. The second season got longer with I think 10-15 min (might be less, been a while) episodes and ends right when this movie begins. You will also learn how Grievous got his cough from that series.

30:15 One to grow up royalty with riches, one to grow up scraping sand for moisture and food. Side note. I once read a theory that Obi Wan intentionally put Luke on Tattooine, his father's homeworld with his father's name, and with his father's adopted relatives to lure Anakin there for a final fight and that is why Obi Wan stayed on Tattooine, watching over Luke. This was long before Disney, the Obi Wan series, and even the prequel movies. I'm talking mid 90s and the advent of the internet and people sharing all sorts of information. The Emperor first refers to Luke as "The Son of Skywalker". Luke uses Skywalker as his last name several times. Vader's name is revealed to be Anakin Skywalker. Obi Wan clearly set a trap for Vader forty years ago in movie times, before all of the new stuff. I've never thought differently.

One thing that Clone Wars really does for this film, Anakin looks like so much less of a spoiled brat when he's denied the rank of Master. A major route to becoming a Master is to train a Padawan to the rank of Knight and to Anakin Ahsoka was more than ready for that position but never achieved it due to the Council's lack of faith in her. He trained her well and was denied the recognition normally given for that achievement because of a Council blunder.

21:09 The left clone "Commander Gree" we saw in that one CW episode with Ahsoka, Ventress and Luminara and the one on the right was one of the clones who is with Yoda on that mission in the very 1st CW episode 1x1, where they have that touching heart-to-heart talk about each clone being different. It's all very sad and tragic.

"It's been said that the 501st got the best of the war. We also got the worst. On Felucia, the Seps dug their metal heels into the muck of that alien hellhole and dared the Republic to come in after them. So we did, only to be met with month after month of flesh-eating diseases, shrieking nocturnal predators, and other sights that haunt me to this day. Cut off and for all we knew abandoned by our superiors, our only hope was Aayla Secura, our Jedi commander. Without her iron will, none of us would have come out of that mess with our sanity, or our lives. When her death came, I hope it was quick. She earned that much." "When the 501st was finally rotated out of Felucia, Aayla Secura made a point of seeing us off personally, calling us the bravest soldiers she had ever seen. It's a good thing we were wearing helmets, because none of us could bear to look her in the eye." - Clone Trooper of the 501st Legion

I vividly remember back in 1998. The Prequels was about to come out, everyone knew it and Star Wars was at it's most massive. I bought a comic "Prelude to Rebellion" and Outlander, books all about Ki-Adi-Mundi and he became a big notable figure from the prequel. Fans got to read comics, play video games, watch series for six long years. We knew these characters very well. And to see the look on Ki-Adi-Mundi's face when the clones betrayed him. It hit different. All of Order 66 was tough especially when we've had a chance to connect with these characters in other media. It's hard. Even after 20 years.

Obi-Wan Kenobi originally specialized in Form IV (Ataru), trained in the form by Qui-Gon Jinn. However, upon witnessing his master's death due to Ataru's lack of defensive capabilities, Kenobi decided to switch his focus to Form III (Soresu) in order to eliminate this weakness in his own technique. Soresu relied on tight bladework and subtle dodges to provide maximum defensive coverage, minimizing exposure to ranged weaponry. Form III focused on strong defensive technique to essentially outlast an opponent, waiting until they began making mistakes due to frustration or fatigue, before taking advantage of these lapses and countering. Master Windu once said that Obi-Wan was THE master of the form. Not a master. THE master of Soresu. He was one of the best options to take on Grievous' multiple lightsaber attacks and also very good at fending off hordes of enemies. Tragically, this meant that for the fight against Anakin, it would be a prolonged duel of the fates in a battle of the heroes. Both of them were brothers, trained together, fought together and been through so much together. Anakin vs. Obi-wan became a fight where you had two Jedi that knew each other's moves and techniques; who would basically fight on equal strength and skill until one would fall and other would be victorious after they wore each other out.

Have you ever watched the 2003 cartoon mini-series "Clone wars"? I think you would find it interesting. It may no longer be part of the canon, but was intended as such when it was released, serving as a bridge between "Attack of the clones" and "Revenge of the sith". And I would say at least 75 % of it still works with present canon, and it contains several important scenes and character introductions.

Watching this again after Clone Wars, makes the movie hit that much harder. You really got to know the good person Anakin was, and the struggles he was going through; making his fall all the more tragic. You also got to know Padme and the Jedi better; adding a greater sense of loss to their deaths. But worst of all, you saw the clones as the victims they truly are. Seeing everything the clones went through, the bonds they formed with the Jedi, and knowing their free will would be effectively stripped away with three little words makes the Order 66 scene beyond heartbreaking...

I can make the order 66 scene just a little bit sadder. When Aayla Secura was killed, she saw her clones raise their blasters and she immediately looked forward. She trusted her team so much that she never suspected they were betraying her, she just assumed they were aiming at an enemy she hadn't noticed.
