Apparently the stranger's/master's/Qimir's helmet is made of a very rare material that is called cortosis. It can deflect blaster fire, stun rings, and lightsaber strikes, and can temporarily negate/short out lightsabers if it touches/hits the emitter of the lightsaber blade. However, it is fibrous and much more brittle compared to Beskar armor, because with repeated strikes, a lightsaber can still cut through it 🤔.

He also apparently has a cortosis arm brace/band on his left arm 🤔.

6:29 How does that Mike Tyson quote go? "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth?" Mae has always been motivated by fear. May did what she did 16 years ago because she feared Osha leaving with the Jedi. She killed the Jedi stationed on Brendok for revenge, but ALSO because she feared what would happen if she didn't go through with it. After she was able to confirm that what the Jedi had told her was true, that Osha was alive, Mae realized that she was lied to or was wrong about the Jedi. She no longer had a reason to kill the Jedi, well, save for the deal she had made with her master. Her mission to Khofar gave her a false sense of comfort--she was traveling to a planet rarely visited and barely charted. She saw an opportunity to bail and she took it! She was under the impression that the Jedi would be able to protect her, and the moment she realized that they couldn't defend themselves, her plans changed! She betrayed her master and he is now here! She knew if she aligned herself with the Jedi, she would definitely die, so she decided to take her chance on her own. With the Jedi keeping her master busy, she at least had a chance to get as far away from him as possible with the Jedi running defense...or so she thinks, anyway. Mae's change of heart isn't surprising; it's very believable. 7:57 Well, you aren't wrong. Sith are witches. Why else would the second episode take the time to establish a link between the witches of Brendok and the words Chancellor Palpatine used to describe the Dark Side of the Force to Anakin during the opera on Coruscant in Revenge of the Sith? More importantly, the skill Palpatine spoke of, the ability to cheat death, is the very skill Mother Aniseya used to create both Mae and Osha! "The Power of One. The Power of Two. The Power of Many." --The Witches of Brendok's mantra The Power of Many is what Mae and Osha will become if they can ever work together. The Power of Many is what Anakin was, and that's why he had a very high midichlorian count. Anakin was supposed to grow into the person he became. I suspect Palpatine killed his master, Darth Plagueis, on the night his master was planning to transfer his essence to the unborn child he created in Shmi Skywalker. He likely chose Shmi because she was on a planet outside of the Republic, but more importantly, because she was a slave with no family or rights. Anakin was supposed to be Darth Plagueis new vessel, his new lease on life, but that plan fell apart with Palpatine killed him while he was guard was down--Palpatine screwed up; he killed his master before learning how to create life through the Force, and that's likely why he's using Kamino's cloning technology to build him a strong body with a high M-Count. He's old and he's in need of a new body. Anyway, back to Sith being witches, Palpatine was rocking his witch/warlock look for four decades! His black hooded cloak, decrepit appearance, sickly eyes, bony fingers, and cackle scream witch! He even shoots Force-Lightning from his fingertips like a witch casting spells! Star Wars Rebels went out of its way to show the audience that Palpatine has a witch-like cauldron--you can see it in the scene where he finds Ezra in the World Between Worlds! And this came after the Clone Wars established that both Darth Sidious and Darth Tyranos had a pact with the Nightsisters on Dathomir...witches! They kept going to them for apprentices, I assume because they already had an affinity to the Dark Side of the Force, which means one doesn't need conversion. 12:11 Who was stopping him? THE JEDI! The Jedi might not have killed the witches and other Force users in the galaxy who used the Force, but their draconian laws enforced by the senate paved the way. Worse still, the Jedi didn't bother trying to help those persecuted. Senate soldiers/bounty hunters rounding up/killing Force users allowed the Jedi to keep their hands clean in all this. The Jedi and the Senate have a reciprocating arrangement; the Jedi handles matters the Senate can't and the Senate allows the Jedi to regulate Force users, and since the Jedi answer to the Senate, the Senate gets control over the Jedi. The Jedi created their own enemies knowingly or blindly, and Sol just realized that the Jedi are the reason his friends were murdered--the witches just gave the Jedi a taste of their own medicine. It'll be interesting to see how this gets wrapped up. Vernestra is trying to keep this between her and Sol. She doesn't want to give the Jedi's political enemies the leverage they need to oust the Jedi and/or diminish their influential powers. Someone big has to die, and take the fall for what's happened, I assume. We know the Sith survive, so a Jedi is going to have to take the fall for what's happened. Will it be Sol or Vernestra? At least that's where I see this story headed. 17:01 Sol spent the entire series calling Osha and Mae by name, and now he's gone with "she" and "your sister." He knows this is Mae! Today was a bust, but Mae's his silver lining. Calling her bluff would result in her running. He needs to get her on the ship, so he's playing along. 17:50 In the end, the mothers got what they wanted. They are no longer around to finish their training, but Mae who was raised in darkness is about to be brought into the light. And Osha who was raised in the light is about to learn about the dark. If Mae and Osha can't be together, this is the next best thing. The incoming knowledge will bring them one step closer to balance. What an episode! I can't wait until next week, lol. I suspect that the next episode will be another flashback, showing us the other side of what happened on Brendok. We have commercials showing us scenes we haven't seen yet--Kelnacca fighting someone on Brendok and Indara flying a ship? The same commercial shows Vernestra in a grassy plain/jungle igniting her lightwhip, so we should have another bad @$$ fight coming up. Maybe not next week, but the one after that. Let's go!

That was the best (intro) in Acolyte series. I liked the 2 Jedi "Sith Kabob "🍡 fight choreography. This was also by far the best episode. As I think back💭 to episode 3. The Witches were all dead b4 the fire consumed their covenant. The planet Witches domicile on wasn't under the jurisdiction of the Republic. So what were The Jedi doing there? I think "The Jedi & The Witches were gettin down foul & funky b4 Mae set that...🔥📛 Why was Torbin willing to take that poision? I like the mystery that shrouds this series....

Here’s the thing, the Star Wars series that they know people would most likely watch, you can’t have all these decapitations and mutilations in Ahsoka, whereas not many casual viewers are gonna watch the acolyte. I think people have too many gripes about the shows when they’ve all been very high quality
