I totally fell in love with the game. I went to two prerelease events last weekend, and everyone had a blast. I'm really looking forward to weekly games at my lgs :)

Very good neutral review! I watch unlimited since the first announcement FFG made a while ago. But even with all the excitement around this product, I am too emotional about Destiny to even play a little bit unlimited (I liked to much destiny to just turn the page). Maybe in a couple of weeks/months I'll change my mind.

Thanks for the breakdown. I have a bunch of Destiny cards and dice sitting in a bin with no plan of bringing them out again.... I am planning on buying the starter set for Unlimited to try the game out but I'm pretty against the CCG/TCG model and I wish they made this an LCG. I loved the Star Wars LCG... I loved Netrunner... I get that FFG won't make as much money off an LCG but its so much friendlier for the consumer imo.

I got into Destiny, went out and bought a bunch of stuff (spent a couple hundred dollars on it, because there were people here playing it at my FLGS). A week later FFG did away with it, and the local scene died. Needless to say, I'm cautious about investing in a new game from those folks.

Randomness of the dice was just to much. We could only get hard core Star Wars fans and table top guys play destiny. So much different for SWU. We got MTG, Lorcana, One Piece, and some others TCG players jumping in. The game is smooth. The Twin Suns format is nutz. Made some proxy decks and got some commander players to buy in which was a rarity with Destiny.

This review is spot on. I was a huge Destiny fan, I didn't not fall in love this game at prerelease. Not sure the weak decks are fun to pilot in Unlimited draft/sealed (much like Destiny). The price point vs a board game is so bad. If you love this hop in and enjoy it while it lasts. I had the feeling from Destiny and Netrunner and Conquest. If Unlimited was an LCG I'd buy it.

LCG is the way to go. Netrunner is such an amazing game. It IS possible to invest all the resources for great gameplay and not just the art and card design.

I also found it is hard to recover. I had several games so far where say Chewie came out and wiped my ground units then when I played something it was immediately defeated because Chewie was out and creaming everything. Of course this was prerelease draft.

Thanks for your very honest and independent review. This is becoming increasingly rare and even reviewers whose opinions I trusted before seem to be moving towards pure product promotion. I wonder how you think this compares with the recent Star Wars Deck building game and which do you feel offers the better gameplay?

I preferred the deck building game to this one. But since it’s such a different type of game (self contained vs ccg ) I didn’t bring that one up.

SW:U is great, but Destiny will always be my love, I unfortunately only stumbled upon, when it was already dead.

Destiny was in my top 3 games ever. And i dont even like Star Wars per se. Bought the starter set for unlimited .......

Can you help me? I've never played Star Wars Destiny, stores no longer carry starter sets, and the local store is offering 4 boxes of boosters (144 boosters) for an incredibly low price. Would it be possible to build 2 decks for 2 people to play casually using the 4 booster boxes?

I live in Brazil, and even this absurdly cheap price becomes impractical for me due to the high cost of shipping, the conversion of our local currency within our fragile economy, in addition to taxation. For now, I will buy the boosters on sale here. Thanks again.

i loved destiny, but it was a game not fit for the CCG format, due to the dice. You end up with an insane amount of dice for the same card that you never use, that's why LCG would've been a better format for it. I think your approach is the sensible one: play with what you have

I love the art style, and compared with MTG it looks less overwhelming with a more interesting theme so I'm going to give this a try

unlimited is boring imo. I like destiny better and I play tournaments in both games. Although i really like the idea of sideboard, nonetheless there is nothing more than i could think of that i prefer in unlimited over than in destiny

The huge pile of destiny i have rotting in a draw will never forgive ffg for how it handled that product, I loved that game SWU will probably be good but thanks to destiny I'll never know as I don't trust ffg anymore

I feel you too. Not Star Wars, but the way FFG ended L5R so suddenly soured me on the company as well.

That is true, but let's consider some facts that wouldnt change your opinion necessarily but are important. Destiny was an LCG not a TCG which is a proven failed model for long term game survival and money for the company. 0 LCGs have lived through to the success of the top 6 tcgs. Destiny got hit by covid while not really making much money. This time arround Asmodee is involved heavily as the business behind the scenes, distribution and general management over them and they want to make long term profits from this. So, the game is good and if the stars align and gets picked up by the public i dont see them dropping it :)
