Star wars X Wing: Building an asteroid field

Күн бұрынHow to create your own asteroids for the game of star wars x-wing miniatures, or for that matter any space related game.
Used Equipment:
•Materials:
- Cardboard cutout of the asteroid: Core game
- Perspex rod (Ø 5-6 mm) www.clearplasti...
- Perspex sheet www.clearplasti...
- Brass rod or wire: Hobby or DIY store
- Superglue (polyacryllate) used here from a German brand, but any will do.
- Zip kicker. Reaction agent to increase dry time for superglues.
- Neodymium magnets (Ø 5-6 mm): www.kjmagnetics...
- Transparant Silicone rubber/kit: DIY store
- Lava rocks: Gardening center/DIY store. This box is meant to spruce up a fireplace
- Various paints
•Tools:
- handDrill or dremel with bits the size of your brass and perspex rods
- jigsaw
- Pliers
- Pencil
- File

Hi! Great tut. Here's an idea: Instead of thin metal bars, use very thick fishing line, especially for very small pieces that are very close to the main rock. The line will not curve.

+Teo Maragakis Ver well possible. We also have a thick nylon thread from the greenhouse farmers which we use for all kinds of "floating" constructionwork

Samuel BRENOT we used a hot wire cutter set to a high voltage and patience or maybe we used a jigsaw

Dont you have problems when you you hit the asteroids and debris bases ?

In what sense? Basically the acrylic bases match the exact shape of the game pieces to have them tournament legal. In this way if you hit it you would do so with the cardboard tokens as well and you officially crash into it as per the game rules. Haven’t played it in years though so maybe those rules changed? (Mostly my brothers game)

Looks great but how do you modify the rules of the game? The rules gone make the asteroids a "solid" object you can not land on

We intentionally stick them on the given cardboard pieces so that they comply with game parts and as such tournament rules. We do not change rules to use these

+irongollem So do you use a duplicate obstacle marker if a player lands directly on the asteroid?

+Howitzer933 this is why they're magnetized. If a ship is going to land on the asteroid, you just remove the display piece and add it back again once the ship has moved off the asteroid. :)
