Zest vs Impact in StarCraft 2 with some crazy Protoss micro.

Turns out you can get some pretty great value out of Protoss units and a Warp Prism as long as your control is good enough.
In this game Zest decides to open up with a very different build than what we normally see in professional Zerg vs Protoss. He goes quick Warp Prism with 4 Stalkers and attacks while transitioning towards double Forge upgrades.

That micro was absolutely ridiculous. At every point in the game I was certain that zerg was winning. Only at the very end of the last fight did it become clear.

The problem is that alphastar practices vs itself, and it would always kill the prism with a blink in or something so it wouldn't work.

That moment was absolutely incredible. The fact that he was dropping each immortal down just long enough for it to get a single shot off and then instantly picking it up again. And he saved all three!! Insane.

That warp prism gameplay was insane. How did he manage to crawl out of the supply lead Impact had over him is a case study on micro skill vs macro numbers.

It made me re think my neglect for practicing micro. Ive gotten plenty good at macroing to make up for it but i think i haven't been enjoying a big part of starcraft

How can someone disagree with Warp Prisms being the best Protoss unit ? Literally if you’re good enough it gives all your units blink , speed to chase down AND the ability to warp in reinforcements . Imo the only unit close to Warp Prisms would be High Templar cause of storm and Archons but guess what makes High Templars/Archons better ... a WARP PRISM !!!

I feel THIS is the real lesson learned from the alpha star games. If you have amazing micro, accurate and not spam, you will have a huge advantage. I think we underestimated the value of micro and overestimated the value of strategy. Great Game

I feel like this video aptly demonstrates the purpose of protoss units - they're built to outlive and outlast, to bring decisive victories when hopelessly outnumbered. More importantly, though, Zest is now a member of the micro pantheon along with AlphaStar.

Man, I've been playing Broodwar for four months before playing StarCraft 2 for the first time in 5 months. I lost about 60% of matches in BW and I now win almost all matches in Sc2, using Brood war macro mechanics. It's amazing how easy it is compared to the greatest RTS of all time.

Should've just sneaked in AlphaStar footage, haha. In all seriousness, though, what a great game this was. Thought Zest would lose until the very end, like the last 15 seconds. A lucky bile or two on those archons probably would've done it.

when the mutas came back i thought he was done for, but he mismicroed them for a split second and the prism archons managed to land two meat shots that destroyed all mutas. it was so damn close, could have gone either way.

GraveUypo Exactly that! He did manage to take out the prism but the mutas stayed there too long. Heck, even just focusing down the archons with the remaining units would've done it because whatever anti-air there was left, it was seriously damaged. The battle was pure chaos, loved it.

@@quantum3667 I've been playing since broodwar 😂 first game I ever played, I was 3. I mostly sat in my dads lap and watched him play until I was 5 or 6 and I started playing myself. Highest i ever got was masters then i stopped now I'm a casual gold leaguer!

Man I'm so impressed with Zest's control. I wish I new what his hotkeys/control groups looked like I struggle once I get to 3+ army hotkeys and your basic production hotkeys for protoss. (Nexus, robo, and stargate) my next steps as a player are speeding up my ability to control.

I usually put army production on 4 and Nexus on 5. I change between production facilities with Tab (e.g. Warpgate and Robo; to get to Robo I press 4 and Tab). It is just a suggestion, do not take the advice too seriously, since I am pretty much a novice.

@@faintrap I appreciate it none the less. I have robo and stargate switch between 4, 5, and 6 depending on my strategy. I put basic army (no abilities) on 1 and then I put spellcasters on 2 and warp prisms on 3 I occasionally put air units or other spellcasters on 4 if I want to focus on sentries voidrays or Phoenix

Incredible game! Immortals yet again live up to their reputation. Really wish Zest had killed the fourth earlier and perhaps invested in a few offensive shield batteries though, would have made his powerful win a lot easier!

Zest is the best midgame player in SCII: he stays on perpetual 2 base economy and forces his opponent to do stay in the midgame for as long as possible with constant aggression.
