I have been watching you for about 2 years and playing sc2 for maybe 3 years and never got past gold with zerg and this season just got to gold and knew it was me at fault but still tried to rush my builds then stuff up panicking. But recently actually took in what your teachin mixed with pigs b2gm zerg and im slaughtering terran now which was my worst match up ty and keep up the great content winter. And most of all have fun

I've returned to the game thanks to this series, was gold in Wings of Liberty and now i keep being put in Masters, tried the "leave league" button 3 times already but the system seems to be really broken. Anyway, thank you for the guides and for make it easier for ancients like me to feel encouraged to get back into the game.

2:48:00 Hmm this is an interesting reason to NOT research Burrow: Keep the Burrow command unique to your Lurkers.

The key for lurker burrow is different, you wouldn't have an issue at all burrowing only the lurkers even if you had your army selected. He even explains like 2minutes later that the keys are different between the army and lurkers.

Wow, replays are just code read by the editor, that's... I never really thought of it, but that's genius. Not only is it infinitely more useful than a video file, but it fits into a few kilobytes. Man, there are/were some really smart people working at Blizzard. Say what you want about the corporate environment, they're not stupid, that's for sure.

The macro hatch can be placed on a high ground near the middle of the map. This provides a chew toy, boosts larva/queen production, and speeds up creep spread to the middle high ground. It's good for stopping that early tank push from getting too close.

I think watching sc games helps a lot with mini map awareness. When i watch winter play i notice minimap stuff as fast as he does. When i also have to actually play i look at it like maybe every 15-20 seconds and a lot gets through -plat Question. Can you build under overlord bile? Also amazon has a plushie bundle for 50 bucks. One rhine, ling, and lot. 2:56:25 winter gives words of wisdom 3:04:10 Winter shows you how to place a creep tumor off creep with drone hatch trick My que times for teams (3v3) are less than 30 seconds at plat level, and thats getting 6 people at a time.

Hey Winter, started playing StarCraft (Zerg) again after a long hiatus. Been so long I forgot how to make brood lords for a few games.... Turns out I've grinded 3k MMR and am still in bronze despite leaving league a few times. This video reminded me that I'm no bronze league hero after all =( gl hf out there!

Fastest larvae inject: macro mouse: 1 button = screen loc + larvae action then left click to inject larvae. Essentially no mouse drag, and reduces 3 actions to 2. Macro + left click to inject. I use this method for 4 hatcheries. Probably cheating but I love it

How important would you rate using camera hotkeys for your bases? Ive always just used the minimap to go to a specific base so I forget to try and learn to use them but I can see it being useful for quicker reactions to attacks or worker management

I normally play dota and use the drag camera to move the camera. But in StarCraft, it's a little different where the mouse reappears in the same place from when you pressed the drag camera key. Is there a way to change it to where the mouse moves and you drag move your camera?

Winter's balance patch had them tower over zerglings so they could attack too but he discarded that as too strong. I think his eventual recommendation was to add a weight loss upgrade for them to shrink their size - just too damn big

Couple questions. Is it technically better (once you have the APM for it) to have your first queen at the natural place a tumor before injecting? Completely unrelated, how do you go about adding reinforcements to your main army hotkey while attacking without using select all army. Do I just have to remember to press shift 1 when I build them. If I have clicked off the eggs have I done goofed already?

That would be your queen no.2 in the game, and I think as soon as you get it, you want those spare larvae to get more drones fast and boost economy. Or a few roaches for survival.

Hi Shiba. Do folks think that Frostgiant's game will have as many issues with leagues and such? Thankfully the MMR system works, but the leagues as a mask on top have always seemed pretty wonky.

old comment but pretty much all games with leagues are operating on a hidden MMR system where the league is just eye candy league of legends, csgo, valorant, etc., are all this way (mostly because nobody wants to have to devise their own MMR system when there are mathematically proven options available)

Question (2): I see a lot of protoss players play a similar protoss to what you display in the low apm protoss series. How do you best defend (and scout) a multipart attack? Spotter pylons and warp prism seem to always just evade my sight and I feel like I never split my army right to protect both fronts. Spinecrawlers have helped but I don't want to over commit on them.

hi winter. i started playing the game when i watched your previous low apm challenge. wanted to tell a bit of a trick to zerg production florencio explained. that is hotkeying your select all larvae button to all basic zerg unit hotkeys. so in config file it looks like this: Larva=S,D,R,Z,T,C,H,U. so you just press and hold one button to make a lot of units

@winterstarcraft Considering that Infestors have fallen out of favor for most games and Vipers are very often being utilized, do you think it would be fair to give Infestors Neural Parazite by default and make Viper's Blinding Cloud a research? Maybe even change requirement from Hive to Infestation Pit as a trade off, but leave the Hive requirement for the research. They seems to be an all-rounder caster which you can always build - because you will always have a Hive later on - and require zero research. They seems overly powerful for a unit that is so easy to reach, unlike Templars (requiring tech choice and research) and Ravens (Who has a tech lab on their Starport? Not to mention that they are not that impactful/powerful as Vipers and you need those Medivacs)

Question: What are important drone counts to remember? I really struggle with how many drones I should have if my oponent is on 1 base, 2 base or just doing anything other than macro. And how many of those drones should be in gas and when?

and basically always keep 6 workers on gas per base cause you generally will spend it either on tanks, marauders, medivacs, collossi, stalkers, skytoss, HT's, archons, vipers, lurkers, infestors, whatever high tech dudes you have to counter certain balls of units

Yo I’m trying to use this guide to climb the ladder. But it keeps glitching me into the master league. How do I get an accurate ranking? I tried leaving and redoing my 5 matches and it still puts me in masters.. Edit:ahh so it is a glitch. And it will eventually fix itself. But focus on mmr?

MMR will always be right - unfortunately there's no fix for the border when placed in masters (and it permanently stains your account) If you were placed in bronze instead, playing a game or two to the would be bronze promotion takes you straight to your accurate 'rank' Tldr - completely ignore names, just play to play

I think the reason for the MMR bug is that people with low MMR aren't eager to place early in the new season. There has to be a bronze league, and if the lowest portion of the MMR range in the 1st week of the new season is 2000 to 2800, then that's bronze. As the true scrubs play their placements, the MMR floor drops and the leagues "fix" themselves.

I completed Terran placement for the first time at the start of this season. Disclaimer: I'm not very good as T, I seek to improve... I get in Master 3 league, progression tracker says bronze, and after several games, still in bronze, MMR is about 2600, which is about Gold? The other day I played against a Z with 250 APM. And he was bronze. We don't have the noobs we used to!
