Zerarul is a good protoss who knows the truth and knows the future but Amon (dark protoss) possessed artanis (Commander of the last protoss) and killed Zeratul

+Benjamin Yang ultimately he knew he had to die - artanis could lead both the high Templar & the dark Templar, whilst for everything he had done zeratul was an outcast by both factions

also technically the zealots are better fighters over all but dark templar have very fatal attacks meaning in an actual fight itd be like ninja versus samurai. samurais gonna win cause the ninjas arent trained for direct combat only defensive and fatal strikes. zerutal missed that chance by a millimeter and so now he faced that direct combat where artanis is more effective, and knew that he had to make a sacrifice. but it's sad zerutal made friends through hardship and was only remembered by three or four others as friend and ally. and only when amon was defested he wasnt hated anymore.

he didn't lose, i believe zeratul could have killed him but he knew he would need to die in order to put artanis in a position where he coudl lead the remaining protoss, since without artanis their race woudl be fucked as well as everyone else because of amon

God, he was such a fucking bad ass in Brood War. and then.. they turned him into some "senile" old fearmongerer and no one listened to him. Pisses me the fuck off. Ya, Idgaf about Artanis, they should have just not made Zeratul the crazy loner. (even though he was right. ugh). :/

+Alyssa W irrespective of him being made into a senile loner ultimately zeratul had to die to further the story Two reasons (a) he is the guide of Artanis in the story quest and just life dumbledore / obi wan / merlin they all died before the main antagonist completes his journey (b) zeratul only had the respect of the dark templar tribes but Artanis has respect of both high templar AND dark templar making him the obvious choice to unite the factions

In retrospect, the most impressive part is that Zeratul managed to sever those cords so close to Arty's head without even scratching any of his armor or the conduit on his back.

As a kid i couldnt understand english but somehow picked up Zeratul is the most badass Protoss there is in sc1+broodwar, knowing the story now im older only confirmed why zeratul is my favorite.. WHY MUST HE DIE :( en taro zeratul :(

Why do the Protoss get the most badass lines in the entire series? You have the Archon with his "Power, Overwhelming!" in the Legacy Trailer, now you have Zeratul with his "My Life...for Aiur"

+noneedforid yes -I've finished the campaign and started editing the ten plus hours of footage I'm also considering including in-game scenes as well based on a moderate success (two-thirds like the Whispers of Oblivion prologue video) It's literally finding time to edit with my current work schedule I know GLPtv have done a "just cinematic" movie

Man i was PISSED when i saw him die. My favourite character getting killed off like THAT!? I made damn sure every single motherfucker under that fucktwit amon died. I whiped the entire maps out before finishing the missions just to make sure no one NO ONE gets away with this.

Artantis has dual blades and the support of the nezarim and youth on his side But I love the raggity appearance of zeratul (looks like a hobo but kicks ass)

Zeratul could very well have killed Artanis then and there, and walked away with his life. However, note the first/second cinematic prior to the first mission: Artanis leading the charge to reclaim Aiur, and Zeratul nearly slain as a criminal. Also, note Zeratul's words before the last clash: "My life for Aiur". Artanis is the one person able to lead both the Daelaam of Aiur and the Nerazim of Shakuras. Zeratul could only lead the Nerazim... Zeratul knew this, and sacrificed himself to free Artanis from Amon's control, meaning that Aiur could be reclaimed, Amon would be defeated, and the Cycle could continue. The problem I have with this cutscene.... WHERE THE HELL ARE THEIR SHIELDS?? They both have them, and neither activated them.
