Serving as a diplomat on numerous planets and engaging with various high-level leaders, he carved out his reputation as the one who granted Chancellor Palpatine the emergency powers crucial for the republic's demise, though this, of course, wasn’t known to him nor others at the time. These emergency powers were needed in order to avoid catastrophic results from the Sepratist uprising, leading to the outbreak of the clone wars and Palpatine’s domination in the field of politics. However, the fate of Jar Jar Bink after the Clone Wars ended, and the execution of Order 66 was carried out, remains a mystery. In the final phases of the war, following the Battle of Coruscant and the successful rescue of Chancellor Palpatine from General Grievous' ship, Jar Jar found himself on the verge of a risky and unsettling decision, although this was unknown to him at the time. Aligning with a faction of well-respected politicians and senators, Jar Jar participated in presenting Palpatine with a significant document known as the Petition of 2000. This petition, formulated mere days before this meeting by a coalition of senators named the Delegation of 2000, urged Palpatine to relinquish his emergency powers-initially proposed by Jar Jar Binks himself-as the war approached its conclusion. Additionally, it called for the immediate abolition of the position of Moff, recently reinstated by Palpatine after centuries of disuse. These senators sought an immediate end to the war, and since it appeared to be concluding, they wanted to ensure that any laws and powers associated with it were removed once and for all.
Being part of the Delegation of 2000 posed significant risks for the senators, putting them in complete unavoidable danger from an attempt to do a good thing and keep the galaxy safe. Essentially, they unknowingly handed Palpatine a detailed breakdown of people who opposed his rule, which later served as a hit list, enabling him to systematically eliminate his adversaries after transforming the republic into the Galactic Empire.
The majority of the delegation strongly and vocally opposed prolonging the war and held deep concerns about the fate of democracy in the republic-concerns which, as time should show, proved to be entirely valid. Among the notable figures on this ominous list were Padme Amadala, who tragically passed away during the birth of Luke and Leia; Bail Organa, who later emerged as a prominent rebel leader; Mon Mothma, who followed a similar path to Bail; Meena Tills, who was at a later date captured and detained; and Nee Alavar, who was executed by Palpatine for her inclusion on the list.
Following the establishment of the Galactic Empire, a significant number of senators, approximately half of those who had signed the petition, likely including Jar Jar Binks, opted to remove their names due to immense fears of facing imprisonment, torture, or even the assassination of themselves and their loved ones. The fear of retaliation from Palpatine was the sole motivation behind this action, and as we delve deeper into Jar Jar Binks' narrative, the reasons behind this fear becomes apparent. Following this, a massive invasion unfolded on the planet Mon Cala, overseen by Wilhoff Tarkin and Darth Vader. The primary objective of this invasion was to seize King Lee-Char and subject his planet to the dominion of the Empire.
Hidden on the planet was a Jedi Padawan who had managed to escape the purges of Order 66 - the targeted and systematic assassination of members of the Jedi Order. Alongside a group of fellow survivors, he took up the role of their teacher, determined to preserve the Jedi Order and its teachings despite his youth. It was a very ambitious but noble goal, one which other Jedi also pursued, such as Cal Kestis and Luke Slywalker.
