Absolutely love that they failed unlike some shows where the heroes are suddenly over powered and it seems like they have been fighting for years these characters have been fighting for a day as a team not even that and it defiantly shows

Unlike Brainwave, Sportsmaster and Tigress are more physical and that made the fights much better. The stunts, wiring, and everything was SO good. Movie quality. I also legit love Sportsmaster.

Hourman's powers are enhanced strength and durability, which is the only reason that he was not taken out completely by Sportsmaster's baseballs, bat, etc. However, enhanced durability is NOT invulnerability.

I like how Courtney is the only one who can manage since a lot of her fighting ability is just done by the staff, it can fight for her while she dodges.

It’s weird that despite the fact that Sportsmaster and tigress should be so goofy they were really fucking cool and threatening. Loved it.

First episode the staff takes Courtney out to train. Stargirl was better because she has been training with the staff every night since they connected.

Tigress and Sportsmaster are better parents than yolanda's parents. How is it that the villains care more for their kids than the heroes minus pat? He's awesome

Sportsmaster has really moved up in the pantheon of villains over the past "decade" or so, thanks to his portrayal in Young Justice. This episode does a great take on him and makes him shine.

I get the feeling Icicle barely tolerates Sportsmaster and Tigress.

I'm surprised that no saw Tigeress and asked themselves if she looks familiar. Her mask is basically an eyepatch and Artemis gets enough attention at school to make you wonder what her parents must be like. 🤔

Sportmaster became my favorite villain on this show with this episode. I agree with Erick the actor has this presence that really intrigues me in whatever he says and does. The make it or break it for me when he was announced as a villain in this show was what they answered in this episode, and that was the fighting. Sportmaster is one of the coolest characters whenever he is fighting in the comics because of how much shit he has. Is like Batman and Joker mixed as one gadget wise lol. They nailed his fighting style personality (if that is even a thing) and the actor compliments this more funny and goofy version. I don't personally recall him being that much of a happy-fun-going type of guy, he has always been serious or semi serious in everything I've read or watched that he's been on. But I FUCKING LOVE Sportmaster. Every villain so far have been amazing, but Sportmaster for sure has jumped to my #1 I WANT MORE OF HIM ON SCREEN! lol

This episode made me really love the Pat-Courtney relationship. She had good intentions trying to recruit new members and when She was found She didn't fight Pat because she already knew the danger, she just thought that they had more chances with help. In any other Arrowverse show there would have been a fight that would drag the whole episode. Later she tried to stop the others from chasing the Gambler and even defended Pat against them. When they tried to go alone Courtney joined them because their only chance of winning is as a team not because she agreed with them. The last scene with Pat was the funniest scene ever. Her character has always been the same.

So it was Ted Grant in the picture in Yolanda's mirror. So she is a fan of his as a boxer and doesn't know that he was Wildcat. It isn't public knowledge from the wikipedia page in the Wildcat episode. I hope Beth realizes she has friends in Courtney, Yolanda, & Rick. I loved that they took the time to show them react to the dead body.They are still teens.

when I read the description of Sportsmaster I thought "this is kinda dumb", but seeing him in this episode totally changed my mind and he is now my favorite on the show \o/

This is a show with competent, likable villains. So you don't want anything to happen to the heroes + you don't want anything to happen to the villains = real stakes.

it just keeps getting better and better...keep watching...

The cinematography like you said has great chemistry with choreography which makes it more wholesome than some of the fight scenes in Titans which were full for cuts in dark areas where we wouldn't be able see anything!

In case they do go this way, in some comic iterations, Hourman's Hourglass does more than just give him strength. It gives him superhuman durability, agility, and stamina. In some cases, he even has night vision and is able to breathe underwater. Or maybe they'll go down the road of the glass being his meta-gene enhancer and/or maybe give him the future visions.

I just realized Sportsmaster is the Pat's friend from the gym. 😂

they got a taste of power and got to confident, they had to be humbled, saw it coming, but sportsmaster and tigress need to be humbled too someday, they hate everybody not them, lol

The choreography in episode 6 was legit. reminded me of season 1 arrow. decent stuff.

I loved how this episode shows Courtney increased understanding of how to use the staff as an omnidirectional skateboard.

for most of the shots when the staff is bright, they're using an illuminated prop that they replace in post with the staff because they want the light to reflect on her face, that's why it looks so good.

This single episode feels more young justice/teen titans that the whole Titans series

I think Rex Tyler's notebook has the formula to increase the Hourglass's potential to allow for the ability to see an hour into the future. I only say that because of the AI, he had no idea what the formula was. He wouldn't have known what it was if Rex Tyler had worked on it after retirement. Does anyone else have any other theories?

I hope we get more shows of this quality. I love this show so much and would love to see what other doors it opens.

This episode sold me on this show. To do sports master and tigress well, never thought I would see it outside of young justice.

It took 6 freaking episodes, but they are FINALLY going to start training.

I love the fight sequence. I am glad it ended the way it did. it wouldnt be believable if the new JSA won. Sportsmaster and Tigress fought like a well coordinated, experience, fighting duo. You can tell they were playing around. they were holding back. In comparison the new JSA is amateurish, inexperienced, they had a lot of rookie mistakes. it makes sense as its their first outing. they are so cocky they need to be reminded they are not good enough yet. they need a lot of work.

This show is amazing, I keep being impressed. It's like titans, it has great action scenes but it has so much heart and the team is so balanced. That's where Titans failed especially in s2.

The song from the begininning isn't a cover of the Mortal Kombat theme lol. Its a song that the MK theme (Techno Syndrome) was inspired by. The name of the song is Twilight Zone by 2 Unlimited.

This episode was fucking amazing. From story, character to action, it was great through and through.

The actor of Yolanda said that she cried while learning the battle choreos for this episode, because she kept messing it up (they taught her the choreos right before they shoot).

Why is it that the villains are more compelling characters to watch... well they are played by older actors and I think it shows a lot, right now I'm liking the villain group more than the heroes.

The guy who plays Gambler gives me the actual creeps. I cannot stand him. Never met him. I would like to just to see how he is in person. I think he is just THAT GOOD to make my skin crawl.

My gripe was that Jakeem should have been at science fair with Mike so he wasn't on his own. I understand they probably haven;t cast him yet but since he mentioned him, I would have thought he would be at science fair

Even with Sportsmaster and Tigress there, they probably could’ve stood a chance at succeeding if Rick didn’t let his anger didn’t get the best of him. He didn’t listen to Courtney and could’ve been killed if Courtney hadn’t stepped in. I hope he cooperates and listens more later in the season

I agree with your theory about the New America plot having something (at least partially) to do with the Injustice Society members' kids taking over or maybe joining them at some point. They make a point of showing the kids of these villains and their interest in them inheriting their powers; Brainwave seemed pretty keen on seeing whether Henry could read minds, Sportsmaster and Tigress are overly involved in Artemis's sports life and making sure she trains a lot and keeps her shakes in her diet, the Fiddler's wife describes her son as a savant with music. The Gambler doesn't seem to have a child as far as we've seen and neither does Grundy of course but if Dr Ido is really Cindy's parent I do wonder what Cindy may be able to do. I don't know Ido's power (and I cant wait to find out on the show so no spoilers guys) but it seems like Cindy has some kind of power of persuasion or something. Or maybe people are just afraid of her. I remember her scolding her mom and telling her to "Stop talking" and the mom just got super meek and backed off like Cindy had the power in their relationship. Henry also seems to cower around her a lot for someone who is also apparently popular at school with a renowned parent. Even Yolanda cowers around her even though I can't imagine how she could make her life worse since the pictures are already out and there's nothing to blackmail her with. Even The Wizard was encouraging his son with his magic. Icicle seems to be the only one not actively on his son's back about his powers but that's understandable with how they've been trying to grieve as a family. I do wonder about Wizard's death though. He seemed to love his son as he was and Joey was a super sweet kid. Maybe he didn't want his kid to be a villain like him and that's why Icicle accused him of being hesitant all the time. He even ignored his calls and seemed unwilling to be a part of this, preferring to just enjoy his family as is in Blue Valley.

I was disappointed that Beth and her Dr. Mid-Nite goggles didn't do more to figure out what the Gambler was hacking. There were a few minutes where the others ran off to fight Sportsmaster and Tigress and Beth was off-screen. That could have been her opportunity to do some reverse-hacking.
