I love the restrained tension in that song, and the fact that it never breaks out and remains unresolved. That's beautiful.

That is PRECISELY how it hit when I was 15 and stuck in a VERY abusive home, surrounded by boys at school who were scared of me but wanted to play with me at the same time. This walking implosion. Constantly cracking, never actually breaking.

If anyone didn’t know this song is inspired by the Rumi poem No Room For Form... NO ROOM FOR FORM On the night when you cross the street From your shop and your house To the cemetery You’ll hear me hailing you from inside The open grave, and you’ll realize How we’ve always been together. I am the clear consciousness-core Of your being, the same in Ecstasy as in self-hating fatigue. That night, when you escape your fear of snakebite And all irritations with the ants, you’ll hear My familiar voice, see the candle being lit, Smell the incense, the surprise meal fixed By the lover inside all your other lovers. This heart tumult is my signal to you igniting in the tomb. So don’t fuss with the shroud And the graveyard dust. Those get ripped open and washed away In the music of our final meeting. And don’t look for me in human shape, I am inside your looking. No room For form with love this strong. Beat the drum and let the poets speak. This is the day of purification for those who Are already mature and initiated into what love is. No need to wait until we die! There’s more to want here than money And being famous and bites of roasted meat. Now, what shall we call this new sort of gazing house That has opened in our town where people sit Quietly and pour out their glancing Like light, like answering?

Saw these guys at pitchfork in 2012 i think it was. they rocked and they did a nice version of Keep Your Heart which i feel the sadness in the air pouring from their souls. Also they did a nice of version of A Method with Shabazz Palaces making an appearance on stage with them, and towards the end they did a badass cover of Fugazi's waiting room and of course Wolf Like Me was mind blowing, if you get a chance to see these guys perform especially outside at night then take it.

Back when I first heard this song, I think I remember it taking a while for me to like it. But now that I do, I can't stop liking it more and more... It's such a comforting song, despite the somewhat depressing lyrics. The sound is fuzzy and warm and enveloping--like a blanket, like a universe. And I love the funky sine-wavy video :) Feel kind of sorry for people who think it's like a fart.
