@@STARJUMP_GRIM Does the privateer version still have the capability of repairing, rearming, and refueling ships? Or are those assets lost on the privateer versus the standard version? Your graphic in the video shows the fuel tanks disappearing in the privateer version which is why I'm asking. I've not been able to verify this information anywhere and I figured you would know. Thanks!

Great content and very informative. I think CIG also needs to look at organisation ownership and ship user permissions. To have an Org. With 15 members on board and only able to deploy in their own ships, it is so limiting. Even on a reclaimer, you need ship ownership to board or use. For any ship, a minimum crew of over one, or any organisation with multiple known members, giving use permissions to organisation ships is a must for the future.

GREAT WORK! Thoroughly enjoyed this. Makes me happy to have a Kraken and actually makes me think about getting a Privateer as well even though I have a BMM. I can really see there being benefits to owning both after this. You really got me thinking about the key differences and how each has their own strengths and benefits. Really looking forward to the Endeavor episode next week. I have a Master Set and can't wait for you to sell me on it all over again! Would really like to see your take on the Banu Merchantman and the Polaris as well. Thank you so much for all you do for the community!

@@tevarinvagabond1192 Just so happens I am. Several actually. A lot of "guys like me" are. A lot of "guys like me" will be. A lot of "guys like me" actually start their own ORGs and buy their fleets specifically to share and enjoy this game with other people. This is definitely a game to enjoy with other people. My new in game friends and I built a Community just playing the game with others. It is not as hard as you would think. I only have 2 Rules in our Community. 1. Help who you can and share what you know. 2. Don't be a Dikk. Sure there are plenty of people out there who own a Legatus Pack and dream that they will Solo a Javelin. I say more power to them. It is after all, THEIR money that bought the Legatus Pack and it is their right to try and play the game any way they want. Guess what? They will get on that Javelin and fly off into the verse with a few NPCs and probably enjoy their time in their Javelin. It may not be very efficient or effective but I do suspect that it IS going to be possible for them to do that. I don't own a Javelin but I haven't excluded the idea of working towards one in game either because at this point in time NO ONE really knows what will be possible when this game goes live. I am sure you would have to agree with that, right buddy? o7

I think I remember hearing during a Live that the larger capitol class ships such as the Kraken are meant to be persistent no matter the state of the owner. So I think it is possible that they won't start development until there is solid footing underneath full persistence.
@STARJUMP_GRIM
@STARJUMP_GRIM Жыл бұрын
So they did say that the Bengal would be persistent. However in the Kraken Q&A it was stated that the ship will despawn if the owner logs out. If other players on still on the Kraken when the owner logs out, then the ship will persist. However as soon as no one is on the Kraken anymore then it will in fact despawn.

A good amount of discussion has been made about the ponderous atmospheric and landing problems of big ships like the Starfarer and Reclaimer, but I think the solution to these things is relatively simple: They're like the weapons on a Prospector. In essence, they're a last resort for when absolutely every other option is off the table, and even then using them is ill-advised. In other words, folks talk about the problems that come about because a Kraken CAN land on a planetary or lunar surface, but the real question is whether they SHOULD. And, of course, the answer is a resounding NO, 99.99 percent of the time. The only situation I can see where landing a Kraken is a good idea would be when it needs to power down in order to hide, and needs to do so relatively long-term. Even then, however, there's so much space out there to get lost in - is it really worth the danger and expense of landing, when you could just as easily Quantum out to an empty spot in space that may actually end up seeing LESS traffic while being MORE accessible to friendly forces in the case where repair, replenishment, or the like are needed by the Kraken?

Lots of great info in this! Finally snagged a Kraken for credits yesterday (or rather, 2am this morning during wave #2). So now I have an Idris-P with K kit and soon also this Kraken in buyback, just waiting for me to decide which is going to be my forever-cap-ship. It will be very interesting to see which one, if either, of these behemoths are possible to run with a skeleton crew. Shame the Idris has an artificially restricted cargo space - shoving that main hangar bay full of cargo should have netted at least 2500-3000 SCU of cargo given how much bigger than a Herc C2 it is.

I'm of the opinion that the Kraken may need to be enlarged a little before it's released. From what can be found on it so far, the two larger landing pads are supposed to be for size 3 ships (such as the Cutlass). However some ships such as the Spirit's or Freelancer MAX are also size 3 ships and if you overlay them, they are a good deal larger than those landing pads. The "if it fits it sits" rule can come into play there but that's more of an unintended side effect than it is by design. An added bonus to making it just slightly bigger could mean the internal hangars could possibly fit size 3 ships as well (currently only size 2 ships). TLDR: If the design calls for proper landing pads to accommodate all size 3 ships then the flight deck may need to be a little larger.

When I first found out about Star Citizen I did not have any end goal ship as at the time only the Javelin was the only known capital ship military wise. Then a number of years later I saw the trailer for the Kraken and fell in love with the vessel and the soundtrack for it, still don't know what the kickass music they used is called sadly. Up until today when I watched the episode here I had little knowledge about it other than the carrier capabilities of which I thank you for informing me about all that the ship can potentially do as I know about six to ten folks who would be interested in playing Star Citizen but want to play around as a group and hang out, which this ship I think solves as I should be able to get it at some point and thus aid my friends into getting started in Star Citizen. As for a next ship to look at, I cannot think of much except for maybe the Endeavor as a the only hospital ship (to my knowledge) or the Orion the capital mining ship. I know both of those ship suggestions are capital but as compared to most other ships I do not recall much about either of them and I would love to see what CIG has stated for both; however, if there is not enough for a video I also understand the information to put together a vid about either of them.

For combat, the Polaris looks to be the king. But for "good enough combat", and a "jack of all trades" capital ship, the Kraken is the king. Or so it seems so far. I personally own a Polaris but honestly I'd like to convert into the Kraken eventually because of how much more realistic it's game loops are. I'm going to be patient though since the Polaris is "supposed" to be coming out in 12 months and we realistically don't know how many years the Kraken is going to take.

Someone made a really good case for why the Kraken should come out with Pyro... but at this point there's just no way. I think it's 2 years out. The two downsides I see in the Kraken would be it's price and the fact that a lot of it's viability depends on the viability & availability of smaller ships it transports/supports. I suppose it could shine as a escort carrier, where it transports Fighters and Eclipses (?), as it could also make use of it's large storage capacity when escorting transports. Another possible upside is, that it's current dimensions would allow it to (barely) fit in the largest Hangar.

And i thought to myself “i wonder how many they actually sell a year.” And i looked into it and it seems the kraken isnt as rare as i had hoped. Sever streamers have close to 10 for “giveaways” and so on and it kinda just killed me a little inside. Still super happy i got one but its definitely not the one in a million ship i had hoped it would be. But i digress CIG has to earn a living somehow!

Having had the chance to take off in a Reclaimer and (eventually) escape atmosphere, a ship half the length but in the same ballpark along the other two dimensions, I suspect the Kraken will require some trial and error but should be just about flyable. Once they switch the ship's mass to be based on current load rather than full load, it might also be a case of taking off empty and then stocking up the hangars and cargo bays only once you're in zero-G.

You need a descent org/corp to run this monster. 15 crew plus people with other ships constantly stationed in it, at least a couple of combat capable ships and the complementary commercial/industrial ships to pay for operations. If engaged in combat in any scenario bigger then small skirmishes, then you need at least a small battlegroup formation with one or two medium companion ships plus specific crew for fighters. In a war theater it should operate like IRL in a big battlegroup with big and small companions, brawlers, snipers and fighters 24/7
