Stars2021 - One More Version

This is another version of code for Stern's Stars (1978). Using an Arduino Nano plugged into J5, this is a complete rewrite of the Stars rules that features Holdover Award Shots, five goals, and a sound package through a Wav Trigger board.

Very interesting playfield, lots of long shots. You have packed a lot of features into that game.

Amazing stuff once again Ike...you really have nailed it. love the sounds you have come up with, any chance of getting them like you did with Meteor? Looking at getting a few Stern's now....Love your work and keep it going . Cheers for showing us all

Ike - I just bought a Stars for myself and then I discovered your great work..Now I'm even more excited to play the different versions. Also interested in playing with rules and re-designs myself. Do you think it would be easy for a novice to try to do redesigns based ont some of the codework that you've done? How would someone teach themself to reprogram the game? Thanks

I have a bunch of examples on GitHub (github.com/BallySternOS), but I can't predict how easy/difficult it would be to learn from the ground up. I've been doing this kind of thing for more than 40 years (not to brag, but I just don't have good perspective on not knowing how to do it).

I k ow you’ve moved on, but had a couple thoughts. On the other displays, you might be able to simulate text for triggers. Like “stars” or “pop” or “bumper” or “wizard” or something. Maybe have it scroll or be displayed when you achieve something on the 2,3,4 player displays for a second?

I would love to -- a couple of people have simulated text like that for Gottlieb games. Unfortunately, with Bally/Stern/Williams (of this era), you can only send 0-9 to the displays. You can't turn on/off the individual segments.
