Fucking finally, a concise, thorough and broad guide. With games like these you often find videos by people that clearly aren't good at editing/scripting, but wish to share their knowledge anyway. This leads to videos that are an hour long at minimum, where 75% of the runtime is either stutters, non-words or the individual in question being too busy fiddling with menus to talk. Those videos that are well edited and concise usually are obly about individual, niche mechanics, which is useful within that niche, but that's it. Thanks for making a video that fulfills my criteria.

@@stargazer378they are they measure how bad you feel for pixels you want that stat hovering around 0 to -10

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: -You can't change difficulty once you have started a campaign -DO NOT pick randomized start (#5) for your first playthrough, it'll be very confusing -The #3-4 starts include a small fleet, not just the signature starting ship Hope you enjoy the new series and learn about one of the best games ever made, StarSector! Sorry this took so long to get out, trying to improve my abilities and aim for quality > quantity. I'd love to hear your feedback and know what you think of StarSector!

Looking forward to the next episodes in this series. Clear & concise, better than other guides out there. Personally, I like forward to episodes more about, mid-late game, when it naturally gets there. But still finding useful tips even about the basics of this thicc game.

Just started my first campaign. Completed the tutorial and then was immediately jumped by 5 pirate fleets emergency burning towards me. Total 1 cruiser and 6 destroyers (and junk) against my 1 cruiser (apogee start) 2 destroyers and the light carrier (and junk). Realising they put their cruiser and four destroyers in tight formation on the left flank, I order every last one of my ships to gank the two on the right as well as all the combat freighters. Meanwhile, I took my cruiser to the left and hovered juussssst out of range of their very scary guns, prodding them with the tactical beams, which I had given a range boost. Thus began the half hour ring-around-the-rosy as I managed flux and range to keep being chased by the bulk of the enemy fleet while my fleet picked off any ships that got lost. It was rather funny when everyone's ships were having critical malfunctions simply because the battle was super long and ultimately the pirate cruiser just ... exploded on it's own before mine did. I lost a poor combat freighter but I made bank on supplies.

I've been looking for a tutorial/playthrough for a long time. Found some but their format of live stream wasn't for me. But this is awesome! The game is difficult without understanding certain mechanics, so thank you!

I've been looking for more space games, particularly multiplayer, since my friends and I had so much fun playing Pulsar. We recently discovered Cosmoteer but I didn't buy it yet...then I saw this video. I think I really want this game. Great video brother

well done, nothing to correct. including some good recommendations (something i missed when i started playing) may would throw in a couple additional things .. but those may cramp too much into it for beginners ..

True, it's very playable and actually quite polished. The Starsector development team has incredibly high standards however. When it does release on steam, I imagine the game will explode.

@@IroncladLion which is a good thing i am sure, i just wished it was on steam or gog at least, because lots of people i know flat out refuse to buy games directly these days. it's hard to spread the good word if you always run into "but it's not on steam" wall :P

Perhaps I’ll not completely give up on this game yet but I got it about last month and it’s way too hard. Hopefully your videos might help but I guess I’ll see.

It is a lot easier to not pilot the ship if you can enjoy the rpg and strategy/tactics element. I have played it this was for the past 4 on off years at least.

@@IroncladLion if I have 8GB of RAM, should I 4GB or less? Tho the performance isn't much better 🫠 Btw I'm using laptop and my CPU is kinda obsolete (Intel Core m7 vPro)

@@MWMocha You probably won't see as big a difference given your setup. I recommend sticking with 4Gb for stability.

I was going to complain that you started talking about flux without explaining what it is or what it does, but now I realize that the game's tutorial missions don't do that either

Ahh it's that game I loved watching and would love to buy but doesn't support the payment methods I like to use and and in its *current stage* so no updates you get automatically I assume.. Seriously this game could get so big if it was more accessible.

@@IroncladLionquick question did they state if I was to buy it on there site I would get a key to activate on steam when it's released? So I don't have to buy it twice?

@ryanadams0922 you don't get to get it on steam if you have the cd key. With a cd key and the installer you 100% own the game So don't worry about it You will probably get that option anyway, like a steam key or whatever

@@russko118 Still get attack. The answer was "max burn". I select Navigation skill and buy Augmented Drive Field hullmod. These 2 increased my fleet's Max Burn by 3. My military ships must come with Max Burn of 10. My civilian ships must have a Max Burn of 9. Any ship that has Civilian-grade hull you can add Militarized Subsystem hullmod to it which increases that ship's Max Burn by 1. All of this has allowed me to disengage all battles so far. Going Dark does help, but isn't enough by itself.

@@JAPerson34 If i had to give you tips: - Learn to use 'Handbrake' by quickly disabling and re-enabling sustained burn, it's great for changing directions and sharp turns, as well as dodging enemies and storms - Emergency burn isn't a decoration - use it whenever you smell any trouble, it's worth way more than the resources you spend on it - Try to keep your lowest ship Max burn at no lower than 8. Having a fleet of 9 allows for a 20 sustained speed, and is the maximum with the skill from the Technology perk and advised until midgame, but later on in the game, it's not easy to get all your ships to 9 so 8 should be a sweetspot to always keep, and only build in augmented drive field into ships that have a base burn of 6/7 - always keep your last story point for disengaging. While it may be tempting, you never know when it may be the one thing between you and a luddic armada annihilation

I have to respectfully disagree wiyth your assessment of easy mode. 50% extra salvage is fairly monstrous as it can mean the difference between being able to afford needed fuel and supplies early game and access to better ships faster in the early mid game etcetera.
