@@thedicetower You're right, though if a game got 5's, I'd say it's in the "bad" category, and this one got a 6.5 and a 7 too! Obviously ratings are fickle, and open to interpretation.. and I wasn't trying to open that debate at all... I simply meant to say, it seemed like the group was not blown away by the game. They were warm on it, but not hot.

No. The tapping is more of a mnemonic. Basically you exhaust a crew to take an action of the matching color. “Tapping” the action just reinforces the connection between color of worker and which actions they can legally activate.

I am not seasoned but I got great game at home. Imhotep builder of Egypt, Rebellion (Star Wars), Conan (Monolith) and Battletech. I also used to play Monopoly when younger. This game seems closer to Monopoly than to these games. In Imhotep (with expansion) you try to make stones in Egypt to reach places and form patterns to maximize points. Very strategic but also extremely thematic. In Rebellion you need to take care of advancing your objectives and deny opponent's advance, and that often is a trade off. Combat is decent. But the overall experience is immersive and awesome. Conan is resource management with stamina as resource. You need to achieve objectives and fight against many enemies, as you may expect. Heroes vs bad guys. Battletech may be extremely crunchy as you micromanage internal damage and it's effects, pilot injuries, heat and falls, but winning is epic and losing is fun due to the ways in which you die with the non beginner rules. This game offers a cool concept but in the mechanics area it seems a bit lacking. It does not have a combat mini game, so the fun is in the strategy to fulfill contracts. If you cannot offer miniatures, you could offer a cool board and tokens with cool arts at least. The problem of cartoons is that scifi players like elegance and cool factor. The space board looked like a toy for 5 year old kids.

For an artist who has basic tools making a cool space board is easy. And I mean something like Star Ward Rebellion quality is not that hard. Photoshop (or Photopea if you have no money) or GIMP, Universe, Blender (to add textures and render planets). Free tools that if you learn to use you can do amazingly cool planets and space. The space board was a turn off to me.

Not a co-op game. But there are not player to player interactions either. Its a race to the finish...

Each player has a board. I usually clarify when I do an overview what is an individual player board but forgot to mention it. Each player has a starship.

Yeah, it's most assuredly not worker placement. The fact that they're pawns representing people is thematic, not representative of them being workers in a mechanical sense.

It feels more like action selection where you need to think ahead to prep your actions for future turns

played twice, each took 30m or so. It adds a secondary ship that is controlled in a very straightforward way to change the board and the tech cards available. there's also a passenger that changes some rule of the game, and the final scoring. I really enjoyed the passengers, it gives you another puzzle to think about, and controlling the NPC ship is super easy.

Yes! It does have a solo mode I’ve played it few times and I enjoy it cause the AI is super easy to use with little to no upkeep. I do wish the difficulty for the AI was a bit tougher and it is a beat your Highscore but besides that I think the solo mode is great.
