I think it doesnt matter, if i recall correctly i have read somewhere that Bug's claws had some anti coagulant on them, meaning you are bleeding out of your wounds like mad and your body cant do jack shit to stop the bleeding or coagulate the wound.

@@StoicNatsoc still wouldn't fix the problem, that coagulant would still be there even if you remove the impaled object, worse case is it would even speed up the hemorrhage

A fortified position always wins but not without *heavy* cost when it's at the bottom of a valley. Glad you made it out alive welcome home. Did you find the officers or engineers in charge of putting those there? Did anything happen to those good idea fairies who thought about putting things at the bottom of naturally good defensive positions.

@@StevenTheAristolianNerd I was at Frontenac before battle in 2012, I looked at low hesco barrier, no machine guns, no tower, just a PTIDS flying above. I was a LT at time, asked my commander, thinking it’s ‘lightly-defended’...8 days later it was stormed...Taliban just jumped over that low hesco barrier...it was a clear invitation...there were many Keating-type COPs. Nothin happened to those suggesting these locations but all of us walking into them, immediately noticed how easily the enemy could pick us from the mountain sides. Even flying out, the mountains were above the helicopter, perfect time time to shoot at us.

I never understood why they were advanced enough to fly to other planets yet the mobile infantry was so poorly equipped! Where is the artillery and mortar's. Where are the mines, squad machine guns. Armor and air support? I had better support in the Light Infantry in the 1990's lol.

Buy 10mm ammo and a gun to go with it and you will think you have unlimited bullets. It is the best thing I have ever done for firearm management! Be ready for a bit more of a kick. But you will never run out of ammo like 9mm is running out, 12guage, .38, 357 magnum, and the such. Sell your 9mm stuff and go 10mm.

A high budget and very specific use of CGI I expect. All the sand spraying the camera from the soldiers shooting at bugs is a very effective way at making the close up shots look more real, almost prevents us from really focusing on a single bug for very long.. Very impressive though.

For those saying "why does this military suck"... in the book each trooper wore powered battle armor, had jump jets, high energy weapons, Y- rack grenade launchers, fire and forget rocket launcher mounted on the shoulder, two flame throwers, nuke grenades and rockets... even the suits themselves could be overloaded into tactical nukes. A suited human could rip a bug limb from limb unscathed. They made it troops with guns because Emmerich wanted to portray Heinleins vision as fascist rather than pragmatic... and frankly because they couldnt afford and didnt have the tech to make steel 10 foot tall gorillas that ran 60 miles an hours

I watch this film to cheer up. I remember the first time I saw it. It changed my entire mood on what it means to be a member of the human race. It's a very very dark film. It reduces humans to the level of willing soldier ants. There is a stark horror to this film that affects me for a few days everytime I see it but what comes out at the end is that we can be triumphant through the worst adversities by selfless sacrifice and joint effort. This is an absolute legend of a film. The sequel wasn't quite as good but really, are they ever?

No hate, but in real life being a human sucks ass because we are always causing pollution and global warming on our planet, born with birth defects/disorders, and have ruined our lives because of politics. What's more is that it's unlikely that we will develop into a spacefaring civilization like in most sci-fi movies due to us being an ignorant species, probably the most likely future is that AI will takeover humanity in 2029.

anyone notice how it took less than 2 minutes for them to get evac. The pilot didnt need to do pre-flight, no checklists at all........

Carmen was that "crazy pilot" that would bug out (pun intended) and head on a crazy rescue mission regardless of risk. I'm sure she and Stack cut preflight corners to get there that much faster.

Pre flight can be done at the beginning of your shift, and after any subsequent flights. You don't do a pre flight and checklist after evac has already been called for. Goes for most any emergency response vehicle. Firefighters and ems don't check over their vehicles after they already gotten a call before leaving the station, they do it before that call comes so they'll be ready for it.

@@connorgowins3224 That's all well and good here on Earth, but I'm sure there would be a few more variables to consider before departing from a space cruiser and embarking on a flash evac mission during an Intergalactic war with a giant insectoid colony. Even if you worked for NASA and knew their procedures for atmospheric entry and exit I still think there would be a slight difference in procedure... Or maybe not, who knows.

One of my favorite films for some strange reason. I guess in the year 2222; I could imagine humans fighting intergalactic bugs (first alien contact) once we develop space travel. Assuming we do.

Great movie and watched this more than I can count my fingers and the CGI is so good for its time until today and it was done in 1997 with the little Pentium Processor and 256mb or 128mb Video Card 😁
