Starship Troopers Movie After-watching Discussion here: • STARSHIP TROOPERS afte... (the discussion part of Starship Troopers Movie Reaction)
Full Length Movie Reaction on Patreon: / starship-full-102906653 - Our Patrons got to watch the full length Starship Troopers Reaction almost two months early.
A while ago Tori and Hannah watched Starship Troopers and it became one of Hannah's favorite movies. Check out their reaction here on the channel.
Now it is time for Abby to be introduced to Johnny Rico, Dizzy, and Carmen, as well as the Arachnids of Klendathu.
This is Abby's first Paul Verhoeven movie, but it isn't Toy's. Toy and Hannah have recorded a Robocop Movie Reaction before.
Abby had no idea what to expect from Starship Troopers and now you get to watch her get invested in the romantic mess that is the relationship between Camen, Johnny Rico, Dizzy, and Zander.
Watch Abby empathize with the Mobile Infantry and all of the protagonists of the film, while also figuring out how this film is a satire on the ease of society's descent into Fascism.
In spit of this not being a first time watching reaction for Toy, you see her get so emotional witnessing Dizzy's death.
Starship Troopers is a movie that works on so many levels, as both a popcorn flick, and a film that makes the viewer ask some uncomfortable questions.
During the reaction, Toy had an Eureka moment when she recognized Clancy Brown from Highlander. She and Hannah had recentle recorded a Highlander Movie Reaction and loved it a lot!

Yep, Although Carmen is gorgeous i always felt bad for Diz..... Recommend reading the book too if you get time, Its a very diffrent story! The book explains the justifiaction for re-introduction orf public and corporal punishment, and crazy thing is the writer predicted the society we have now! P.s. one not many people notice is the trooper who gets covered in the green goo and later pronounces "Ricos Roughnecks" is the priest in "walking dead" Seth Gilliam

Don't bother with the sequels. None of them were done by Verhoeven and they don't logically follow. The animated CGI movies are worth it though. Oh, and if you're gonna rewatch it, find the Director's cut. It has more than 20 min extra scenes. BTW, the point of Verhoeven's Starship Troopers was to make it feel all "Hitlery" like you said. It was a satire meant to criticize modern day governments of the 90s.

One of my favorite details about this film is that the asteroid was just a random asteroid. It wasn’t shot at earth by the bugs. The ship scraping it accidentally changed its course and sent it to earth.
@RuntotheMovies
@RuntotheMovies Ай бұрын
Producer's note: wow. I always thought it was purposely sent by the humans to create a pretext for war. The graphic of the bugs home planet on the other side of the galaxy and the ships' apparent FTL capability seemed to suggest that it was impossible for the bugs to ever send a rock that far. It would have taken ages to travel. Your explanation makes perfect sense.

There's a question over why the planetary defence net didn't destroy the asteroid, either: (a) it was ineffective and they're using the war to cover up how the system wasn't fit for purpose (it gets upgraded after the hit) or (b) the defence net deliberately didn't shoot the asteroid down in order to justify the war Either way, it's *very* suspicious how quickly the bugs are blamed and war declared

Back when this movie came out it was not a hit in the theaters, but for some reason when it came out in video it became a hit through word of mouth. People would tell their friends they had to rent this movie and that it was surprisingly good. This was back in the late 90s to technically the internet existed but most people still did not own PCs, at this point in history, windows 95 had just come out a couple of year prior, and we were still using VHS players! The is back in the days when word of mouth actually meant physically talking to someone you probably knew.

In my opinion, Verhoeven's talent for satire is unmatched in film. The satire in this film is so on the nose that a lot of people take it at face value. Just read the comments on any reaction to this movie and there's always a comment saying that the book is better or that the bugs deserved what came their way after what they did to the "Mormons." These responses further illustrate just how prescient the satire is, if people can be swept away by the film's Fascist propaganda un-ironically. The propaganda Inserts are inspired by (and sometimes copied almost verbatim) from real Nazi propaganda reels and films from before and during World War 2. For example, the slogan "I'm doing my part." Abby's comment that the antagonists being bugs just strengthens the metaphor is excellent. It is a pleasure to see that the younger generation is able to understand and appreciate this film. It is more relevant today than ever. Thanks for publishing this video and, as always, thanks to your editor for doing such a great job! 👍

A masterclass in satire, and I'm pretty sure the 30-35-year old "high school students" are a very deliberate choice. And yes it is very "Hitlery". :D

none of the actors were that old. IIRC, it was 24-29, and they're supposed to be 18 (and often "high school" students will be played by actors in their 20s).

I saw Diz in real life Christmas season 2022. Bloomingdale’s @ WW mall, men’s department. The mall is so n her home town. My coworkers asked me, “hey, please Go to the center checkout in the men’s section and tell us who that is.” Dina Meyer is the only woman I saw that actually glowed, like an aura of Light sparkled on her. My late wife was a legit 9, and that used to make me proud. But Dina Meyer, in real life, was a sparkling shimmering natural beauty is.

18:23 - for anyone that knows how space travel works and relativity, lol. The bugs launched an asteroid from all the way across the galaxy and it reached us in a few weeks/months but wasn't travelling at super luminal speeds (if it were, the solar system would have been destroyed when it hit earth). False flag attack by humans on Earth to bolster support for military expenditure aka manufactured consent. God I love this movie and the very subtle nuances it weaves in.

Heinlein's book was deeply jingoistic, and deserved this kind of satire. Too bad a lot of people don't pick up on it being satire.

As long as you know this is a comedy... It is a great parody of a great book. I'm glad you watched this. Like Robocop and Total Recall, it takes a dark sense of humor to appreciate it. Minus The Bear did a great album and gave this movie great homage. I think it is timeless, and you should hear it. Also, consider reading the book. It's short, sweet and to the point and all serious and it makes the rewatch of this movie downright hysterical. I mean, in the book, Dizz is a guy... I do think this is a wonderful movie and I think it's the director's best work of all. It's beautiful... But so are you ladies! Great show! ❤ (Goodfellas)

Ah, Sunset Beach meets sci-fi lol [Would You Like To Know More?...] As always fantastic reactions! Thanks so much! It's great that you guys often share reactions and great that it sometimesgives a 2nd viewing because then the finer detailes get picked up too! This is one of those movies with a lot of little hints for multiple watches. I read some comments below and had totally forgotten there is a book or series of books, need to check those out. Anyway thanks again, always so much fun watching with Run To The Movies!

It is simple if you really love someone you should have to be told say it out for size or to see how it feels. She didn't really love him. She loves Xander. I love the way Abby.exe fails when she gets shocked so much she can't react. The clerical error that was setup to be a great bait and switch, perfect! Insert slurping sounds, lol. They look like ants officially Aby's motto. Yes, react to Robo Cop and Total Recall. You will really enjoy them. Yes, there are sequels to this. There are three more Starship Trooper movies.

I'd like to add my vote as Hell Yes to Abby watching Total Recall and Robocop. He's a master of sardonic satiric social commentary. The actual book by Robert Heinlein that this is based on leans way more into quasi-fascist military propaganda. This movie takes that and makes it kind of absurd.

I think I'm in love, cause Abby's idea for combining Terminator and SST for The Exterminator is exactly what i said. Btw if you game, Abby, play Helldiver's 2. It's totally a love letter to Terminator and SST and you fight the Automatons which are like Terminators and the Terminids which are like the bugs! They even included the dystopian propaganda ads that Paul Veerhoven is known for. I loved the reactions ladies! Take care and have a good one!

The book had a lot more, including answering a lot of your questions there at the end. The man who wrote the book grew up during WW2, and as a young adult in the 50s saw the increasing government control as very "Hitler-y" as you put it. The book follows a young man from Puerto Rico, who joins because he really did not see any real future since he was not smart enough to qualify for student aid, and his family was not wealthy enough to pay for him... yes, Jonnie Rico is hispanic from a poor family in the book. The romance part was added for the movie, since the Mobile Infantry accepts ONLY men, and the Navy is almost exclusively women, and the only time we even see comments on women are as background. The story follows Jonnie, as he grows from a simple trooper until he becomes what we would recognize as a General leading a full battlegroup, as well as a LOT more story and explication of life for non-citizens, like how they had a lot of modern freedoms, including an absolute ban on religion in government, but only some form of federal service qualifies you to vote, run for office and such. I would love a remake closer to the book, but the CGI is still years out.

Robert H. was popular in Germany prior to WWII and this and many of his stories were first published in the 1930's It was reedited and released in the English form later when he was working for NASA after operation paperclip. A Russian born scientist and American Author Isaac Asimov also wrote many short stores that were later expanded and repackaged as they were tied together into full novels in the same fashion. Robert H. was also a Aeronautical Engineer while the grandmaster of science fiction Asimov had doctorates in Physics and Chemistry.
