RIGHT??!!... I find one of Canadians' most negative traits are attacking those who are successful and / or novel in their approach to life. Deep thinkers and risk takers are ofter falsely labeled or defamed by the envious Group Think crabs in the bucket; trying to pull the creative Canadian back into the mediocre mire.@MultipleCareers 😊

Say what you will about JP but the reach he's had on North American mass culture is impressive. I read TRFL somewhat after the initial hubbub and undoubtedly there was much to commend about the content in it but I also remember thinking that a lot of the advises aren't that different from common sense takes that were standard knowledge up until 30+ years ago. The novelty is that he's been able to distill the messaging of conduct that was the general norm at one point and make it digestible to a modern demographic. That said, many have benefited greatly from his message so I won't begrudge him his flowers.

I was thinking similar about the common sense part. These are things our parents, grandparents have taught us but we didn't want to listen. Sometimes people can hear the exact same thing from a different source and in another context and then finally get it.
