That's funny! Ecx used the spectrum dx2 with their ruckus! Can't understand why they would switch! That transmitter looks cheesy! And its the same base as the ruckus! Still a great starter truck! I love my ruckus! All metal gears in it on a dynamite brushless motor and esc combo! She rips the ground up now and will pull wheelies and jump through the air with ease! I dig the ecx line up ! They're really cool looking! 👍👍😎👽

Great review as always! Bought this as an inexpensive basher my kid could learn on, since you can adjust max-speed on the controller its perfect! Also bought a 3000mhA battery and a better charger. Grand total around 230 bucks. Great truck, jumps really well and is a lot of fun.

One thing thats great is theres already a bunch of up graded aluminium parts available for this platform the ecx torment parts will bolt right on & make this truck bulletproof!

I have the brushed version of the Ruckus bought a few years back that came with the stand alone dynamite lipo tazer ESC and it rocks on 2 cell lipo considering its brushed and is still my go to basher. Only thing upgraded is the rear driveshafts are now metal ones as the originals are not great.

This looks like a great truck. Just like all the ECX line. Problem is the one tiny little hobby shop near me is mostly flight and only carries a few Traxxas surface RCs. The closest hobby shop I know sells them is a four hour drive away and you have to special order them, they don't keep them in stock. I get what Horizon was going for not letting the ECX brand be sold on line but all they really did was severely restrict possible sales.

Since the ame crush has a shorter chassis than the ruckus I wonder how it would perform with the new badlands and a brushless power system

Can also try a redcat volcano it's Brushless and 4x4 for less than this truck. Also a Traxxas rustler and stampede is this same price. 👍👍 I have the ecx circuit 2wd brushless the transmission gears are all plastic with no grease so that doesn't last long also the servo saver is very very very sloppy so if you drive on pavement it will not go straight it will wobble all over but rpm makes a ten dollar second saver eliminator kit works well.👍👍

What I noticed is that the motor is low and in the back. Isn't that the best place for sand and dirt ro get kicked up into the motor? I have an ecx ruckus 1/18 and I have locked up the motor 3 times! Luckily I managed to get the sand out by shaking it and using water to push it out.

I will not buy from Horizon Hobby ever again! I bought an ECX Ruckus weeks ago. I am new to the hobby and didn't want to spend a lot of money until I found out if I even liked it. I ran a 2s battery pack through the ECX to break in the motor. The next day I ran another battery pack through for a first easy run, no abuse. At the end of the first run my steering was very sloppy and had trouble turning. The steering servo was stripped. And near the end of my run the transmission, differentials or both were slipping. I was sure to check motor temps periodically throughout the run time, and it was fine, but that would soon change. [Now, I've got this all documented as I was making a video and I'm still documenting the whole situation until its resolved.] So I took the Ruckus out for a second drive the next day and ran it through another battery pack only to have the motor start smoking and blow up less than 5 minutes into the session. I contacted Horizon Hobby and they paid for shipping to send them the rc for service. I contacted Horizon again after they received my package and asked if they could just send me a new vehicle since there were so many problems with it, it must be defective. They assured me they would send out a new rc because it wasn't worth their time to fix it. About a week later I received an email saying that my product was checked in and they would service it. Just to make sure they knew all the problems I was having with the car I contacted customer service once more. They assured me that they wouldn't waste time fixing the original rc they would just send me a new one, and that they would leave a note on my account for the technician to call me before he did anything. That would've been satisfactory... if that's what really took place. A couple days later I received an email stating that they had done a one time COURTESY motor replacement and the rc was on its way back to me and would be there the next day.... what about the other problems?... the servo?... the differentials?... I contacted customer service I was very upset at this point. I told the rep what had happened and she got the service tech on the phone who serviced my Ruckus. I let the tech know that the Ruckus was under warranty and the motor replacement wasn't a favor. He told me that nothing else was wrong and the motor replacement was a courtesy, his exact words were "no one forced u to buy it!" So apparently Horizon Hobby thinks its ok to sell junk because no one is forcing us to buy it and when their product needs rebuilt after 2 battery packs they will throw in a new "courtesy" replacement motor and call it good because.... NO ONE FORCED ME TO BUY IT!!!! I let the tech know that it was no courtesy to replace the motor and that his company did me no favors by selling me junk. If I wanted to loose 200 bucks Id throw it away rather than giving it to that horrible company. I know 200 dollars is cheap for an rc but I didn't expect it to need fully rebuilt after 2 runs. And that's not how it should be. Now I have an rc that I bought weeks ago that I've gotten to use twice... and I'm not going to get to use until I fix it. If the opinion of this service tech is reflective of how Horizon Hobby thinks of all of their customers.... I don't think they will make it as a company. Not only have they lost my business but I'm going to spread the word and hopefully it helps someone else out. I should've listened to all the bad reviews I saw on Tower Hobbies website. I'm not sure there were any good comments. The moral of the story isn't that I'm out 200 bucks... The moral is I'm so glad I didn't buy a more expensive unit.
