Man I’m in the middle of this procedure right now and that little spot at 13:13is where I’m struggling to get that new starter shoved up in there and oriented to flushly seat onto the bell housing. Something seems to be in the way. So annoying lol

If you have an automatic prepare for pain. The transmission cooler lines are totally in the way

So that’s the negative that was at the bottom of the starter that you wired in?

No, actually it's 2 different circuits. The ground is through the bolts to the bell housing and engine block. The big stud turns the starter motor, and the little wire closes the solenoid to energize the starter motor, and also to kick out the starter gear to make contact with the flywheel or flexplate. The one I wired in was the solenoid wire.

Let me know if you ever want to sell that car. I have the automatic version, wish I had the manual version

lol If my current buyer falls through I'll let you know. I don't want to sell it, but having 8 cars is ridiculous!

I have a 2004 3.9 manual with 195k still going strong. Take care of them and they keep going.
