I'm starting a carving of Sacagawea with a piece of red cedar driftwood that a friend sent me from the Pacific Northwest. Also, I'd like to show you a few other carvings I've done for pendants out of marine ivory.

Stockman Original is your guide through the lost arts and the forgotten crafts. Brian Stockman is a master carver with more than 50 years of experience carving all mediums from wood, to stone, horn, bone, ivory, and ice. He has a particular speciality as a scrimshander (one who does scrimshaw), carrying on the ancient art popularized by New England whalers. Brian has spent a lifetime gathering knowledge of lost arts and forgotten crafts, all of which he shares with you.

Gosh, that piece of wood (which already looks fantastic as it is) is going to be wonderful, looking forward to seeing that. The little animals for pendants are gorgeous, too!

Isn’t that a crazy cool piece of wood? The inside is just as l had hoped, hard like horn and tight grained, it’s going to shine up really nice.

Those pendant pieces are beautiful 👌 I can't wait to see the carving into the tree horn. I'm sure the grain structure will be amazing 👌 brilliant work as always Brian 🙏

Thank you Dave! Yeah, the tree horn is amazing, so hard. It just looks tan as l work on it but I think it’s going to really pop when I put the oil on it.

We have been reading our kids an old Sacagawea children’s chapter book, we’re about half way through. They will love to see this and your progress along the way. The pendants are beautiful as well.
