Construct and design buildings for optimal working conditions. Hire people to design and release software, so you can defeat the simulated competition and take over their businesses. Manage and educate your employees to make sure they are skilled and satisfied with their job.
► Build, furnish and maintain office buildings up to ten stories + basement, on an enormous land, using a free-form building system with easy copy-paste tools.
► Hire employees to design, develop, support, research and market software in teams.
► Build roads and parking to ease commuting for your employees.
► Tend to your employees' needs, demands, skills and specializations, while making sure each team has compatible personalities.
► Customize your own employee avatar.
► Create your own software products and franchises.
► Compete in a simulated and randomly populated market by selling your products, taking on contract work, creating patents, making deals or trading stocks.
► Hire staff to repair your furniture and computers, clean your office, make food for your employees or greet visitors.

Hooo boy! I think it was you who got me into Software Inc. all those years ago. Maybe back during Alpha 8? It took me a few years to scrape enough money together for a PC that could play the game, but now, having experienced the fun of developing your first operating system, making and supporting software, and accidentally missing printing contract deadlines due to slow couriers, I can say wholeheartedly; Thank you. I haven't followed you consistently through the years, but I'd love to see where this new series goes!

I also got this game around the time of Dylan's first series and that's how I learnt to play. Learnt a lot from watching him after not playing for a while with all the new updates the Dev ads

Ugh. In my eyes, this game would cause some serious PTSD -- I spent the 80's doing almost exactly this kind of work (in accounting, not games). One of the things I learned is not to own any land or buildings -- rent everything. My boss back then "forgot" to pay the company's payroll taxes in an attempt to keep the doors open. So, when the company went belly-up, I found that I got ZERO credit for SocSec for three whole years. I see the employees use the break room, but not the restroom...hhmmmm.....

About time bro. Was wondering when you were going to get around to a new series of software inc. You dont need printing, you can order copies as you release your product and each copy costs £2, you will be notified when your copies are low so you can order more. Funding is useless as with a few contracts you can get 100s of thousands. The only reason i get a publisher is for the marketing as you want a good marketing team and followers before attempting marketing yourself. You gave away almost half of your sales profit to your publisher when you would have only given 12% with only marketing.

It just wouldn't be Software Inc without the chonky roaming cats. Half expect them to be wandering around the warehouses when you get the open door buildings, lose staff to injury cause they tried to pick up a box one of them was hiding it.

Yay! My favorite game right now. Two things: It doesn't make sence moneywise chosing funding and printing in the publisher options. Buying the copies yourself costs $2 per copy instead of paying 14% in royalties per copy. Also the "loss" that your software made doesn't apply for your company but to every expense for the software, including marketing, which the publisher will pay for. So that's a win for you 😄
