Starting Beef in Graffiti ! (Rating Fans Graffiti Throwies 1-10)

Today we rate fans graffiti on a scale of 1-10 and today one of the fans did a throwie ontop of a straight letter. This fan is new to graffiti so tell me do you guys think he started beef or is he ok?

If thats Kisue who I met on GraffHelp he's got great styles. Gonna be utterly sick when hes older. But Im not sure it is, the tags Ive seen him do where a lot better than that one. Hasnt been on for about 6 months tho, shame, loved his seriously long designs, like 7 and 9 A4 sheets.

I am the guy behind the Druk throwie. I am fully aware of the fact that it doesn't look great and that I should've covered the whole name underneath it. Thank you for the criticism though, I really appreciate it! I will be practicing the fundamentals and basics and I will be improving my throwie next time (not that it would be hard). Thank you so much! Edit: Also, I didn't intend to start beef with that guy. If he does consider this as a beef, how can I stop that? Or are the rules of beef different when it comes to legal walls?

hey dude glad i could help. i figgured you didn't mean to start issues with him, that's why i felt compelled to bring it up and let you know the potential issue. This is a rule you really dont want to break in graffiti. Also if i may, improving your throwie should not be easy at all, and if you find it easy at any point you should be sceptical of your improvements. You dont know the fundamentals enough for anything in graffiti to be easy, this isn't an insult, but its the case for any mature in any artform. There is simply too much too learn, too much to fix. when you change one fundamental you're going to influence another fundamentals and its bound to cause new fundamental issues. This is the process of learning, and its anything but easy. The only people who have and "easy time learning" are people who bite. They perceive the process of copying as practice, and with that crutch holding their work higher than it deserves to be they see that and misconstrue it for their actual skill level when its not. The bitter has learned or gotten better, they just masked their mistakes with other people work that they dont understand, and this makes them dumber and limits potential. In other words they never progressed at all so progressing wasn't really easy for the biter either. In otherwords progress is never easy.

What I meant with "not that it would be hard" is that I have A LOT to improve, didn't really phrase my sentence that well now that you have mentioned it. I will be practicing the basic fundamentals with your advice in mind and hopefully one day I will be able to make some great stuff. Thank you so much! lets see some illegal throws, pieces and tags. Gotta have more leniency in the streets compared to sketching at home with a medium we practice a lot more - pencils, pens and markers

It was indeed a legal wall but that spot was the only spot with a piece that was tagged over. Since I have poor time management I wasn't able to cover the straight letter before I painted my throwie. Not trying to talk myself good here, I own up to my mistakes.

I have an issue with a comment you said somewhere in the mittle with don't look at others I think u can look at other people to get influenced by or learn from their work (how they do it etc.) 😅

yes, master studies are a great way to learn but in all my years of teaching i've only seen less than 10 graffiti artists actually learn this way. the reason being, to learn effectively from copying, you need to know of each fundamental and have a base knowledge of how they work so that you can deconstruct them in the work you're copying. The issue when graffiti artists do this is that they dont know what the fundamentals are and they certainly dont have a base knowledge of how they work, as a result, they do all of the copyin with none of the effective learning. at that point they're just biting, and thats what he was doing. he wasnt learning from his copying. The amount of people i see who just copy for 10, 20, 30 years and have ZERO knowledge to show for it, little progress over that time to show is astounding. in fact, its almost every person who's ever asked me for a critique over the past 20 years. this is why i say dont look at other peoples work, because they're not using other peoples work responsibly, they're mindlessly copying rather than actually breaking down the fundamentals.

Straight disrespect not buffing the whole name. I was taught if you can't paint better than the name you're going over then you're not supposed to go over it at all

yeah thats the general rule for sure. definitely should have buffed 100% or not have touched it at all
