That’s nice. Y’all got a hell of a lot more money than I do. We don’t even have a loading chute and I lost a lot of religion the other day just loading 1 cow.

wasn’t so easy at first… it meant a lot to get the handling set up. after chasing animals around we were willing to sacrifice

the whole project? will have to let you know when we actually get all of it done this spring and can tally it all up. Treated lumber is just going through the roof, so glad we got almost everything already.

Not for us! lucky animals can all get to the trees or the barn, but working the system should be pretty rare in the heat of summer so we will manage through. thanks for watching!

Not telling you how to..just saying in any cattle pen it always makes it stouter to use all heavy posts of same.

Welcome the advice. it’s pretty sturdy with the 4 inch plus then 6 inch plus every other post. We agree and also add that you should never use less than 5/4 boards. 1x would definitely snap with pressure from a big animal. It just really got down waiting on more treated lumber and the prices skyrocketed. it’s all here now, so we can finish the chute and some more alley fencing. we’ve been lucky that almost everything here has been really tame. the newest steers are the rowdiest we’ve had and they really aren’t to spooky. just got into a corner with the temporary panels that the steer pushed under in the temporary chute… lol. got some up for processing so we should have a video of finishing the chute and pens by March. Your advice is for everyone. build it tougher expecting a bad day for sure!

@@twincirclefarm1171 yes I can understand prices. Everything went out of sight. I redid a set of pens few years ago and the lots of 16ft cattle panels. I used 3 boards for structural strength..should have used 4. A cow went goofy one day and went through it between the two and three boards. The 4th board stopped that.

yep. We made the “working areas” 6 foot tall and as you can see there are six boards. growing up we had some bulls that if we had them today we’d have to out horizontals in to stop his pushing. these prices are ridiculous!
