Starting Our Next Big Adventure

It's time to begin the long and beautiful journey from Canada all the way to Central America! In this video, we are leaving Canada and driving 1000 miles through the USA. This is a massive journey, and is only the beginning of our road trip to Central America. This video starts off a bit sad because leaving our family and friends is never easy, but we are so grateful to not be saying goodbye to our dog this time around! Evie, our pup, will be a full-time member of the crew moving forward, and we cannot wait to share our love for travel with her.
After our teary goodbye, we make quick work of getting to the Canada/USA border. Thankfully, our lack of plans didn't raise suspicion with the border agent, and we were allowed to enter the USA (which is Evie's second country!). Day two is really where we put ourselves to the test though. We try car camping for the first time and it definitely didn't go as we imagined. Would we do it again to save a few bucks though? We give you the Nicole-and-Mico version of a car conversion tour to show you just how we managed to sleep in our 2008 Toyota Rav 4 in relative comfort, before heading off for the next couple hundred miles. America starts to feel awfully big when you are driving through it!
We could not be more excited to be starting this new adventure of traveling through Canada, the USA, Mexico, and Central America. It's going to be a bit, long journey and we cannot wait to see what twists and turns we're faced with along the way!

Hey there! We are Nicole and Mico and in March 2021, we quit our jobs, sold our belongings, and began traveling the world! Wow, this video covers all of the genres - drama (crying leaving the house),horror (staying in a cheap motel), comedy (how to set up a car for camping), education (how to pick up an amazon package while on the road), and adventure (basically everything else). - best travel channel ever! 🥰

Thank you! 😊 Evie is such a great pup in the car! She is actually a fairly reactive girl, so we've been doing lots of training to help her do better when there are people who come up to the car. I think you'll see a bit more of that reactivity in the next video, but she is getting much better! We're really proud of her 😊

If you guys ever did some type of assisted travel group you could call it NME Adventures for the the sake of this next fantastic chapter in your travel life. I will say the unknown and just planning on the fly is something I'm working to get more comfortable with.

Such a good idea! Going with the flow with travel definitely isn't for everyone, and that's okay! I think if we were going on a holiday we would book every day specifically just like we used to. It's just this no-end-date travel that allows us to feel free enough to roll with the punches and see where life takes us 😀

Amazing you guys! My husband and I travel south every winter in a similar way with our cat. There is so much adventure and flexibility to traveling without a specific itinerary. Good luck and have the times of your lives!

So excited fir your new adventures. Idk if you're aware that in most of the national parks you aren't allowed you hike with a dog. You can go on the paved paths.

Car camping seemed inevitable. You’ve had a trial of it in Mongolia, but this is creating your own setup. Maybe, long term van/car life is a part of your future adventures? It’s so interesting watching the evolution of your travels. Loving the addition of Evie!

Thank you for continuing to be here through all the changes our channel has been through! We've definitely thought of giving short-term van life a try, but I still have to convince Mico. He's not sure we'll enjoy the tiny space, which is a very fair point. Maybe at one point we'll have the chance to give it a small trial though

I love the dog, since you guys got a new lease on life, I would recommend visiting previous countries in different journey, such as Mongolia which is known as one of the coldest countries in the world as a challange, or finland during christmas season

So glad you love Evie! We are so stoked to have her traveling with us now. It would be amazing to revisit countries we have been to before. We love leaving countries "unfinished" with more places to visit within each country. I can't say we are eager to visit Mongolia during winter though... as Canadians we have seen enough of the cold to last a lifetime 😂

Thank you! The sling I have on in this video has been great. I've been using it for months now and it's held up really well - and it's really affordable! I really like the size of this one. Nicole and Mico - maybe get those sleeping bags that are super thin (and fit into your palm when packed) that is made from the material that NASA uses for their astronauts. They keep you super warm and when turned inside out they keep you super cool

How fun! Your car sleeping arrangements seem to work out well. At 6'2" tall this wide body may not fit in a RAV. Back in the day before camping in cars were a thing, I slept in the hatchback of my 240ZX with my legs stretched out in-between the front bucket seats. It made for a long night. I've enjoyed your world travel and look forward to your travel through stateside to Mexico. By the way, why are you using SIM cards when using eSIM subscriptions is fairly simple? I've had success with the Airalo in Europe, not so successful in the Caribbean. Also, mobile services like AT&T include connections in Canada, US, and Mexico without a premium. Is it a Canada cellular service thing that doesn't include this type of service? Safe travels!

Goodness that sounds like such an adventure, even if it was a little bit uncomfortable! We are actually using eSIMs, we have been using Holafly for a while now and they've been great! They have a wicked North American package with unlimited data that we love. Unfortunately, as Canadians we don't have access to AT&T, so that isn't an option for us

In the US, I’ve slept at Loves & Pilot gas stations where the trucks stay. People in Vans & cars do the same. I feel safe & there is food, bathrooms & sometimes showers. At it is FREE !

You are probably already in Mexico, so it doesn't matter now, but please, please, please don't stay at a roadside rest stop in the US. It's NOT safe. Camp sites and rv parks and the like, yes, but not a rest stop. Stay safe!
