With all the hermits being so close this season, maybe you could open a neighbourhood pub with happy hour prices (whenever you are there), redstone games such as darts or billiards(?), and possibly karaoke. I think it would be great ongoing content. Near the post office would be a good location.

Helsknight could charge for membership to a secret speak-easy under the pub with slot machines, tables for stat poker and you can buy the "good stuff" (potions, gold apples, wither roses, any mischellaneous items that seem black marketish).

9:30 Don't worry about hitting the golems under the portal in the End. Since they are hand built golems rather than naturally spawned in a village you can beat them six ways from Sunday and they will never harm you. They are good boys. Or just boys with very low self-esteem, not sure which.

Right!? Iskall i believe is the one who put him onto it (as well as Stress) and I LOVE it so much in each of their vids. So subtle but makes a huge difference, the videos are just that extra bit cosy and beautiful

Just FYI... Impulse tried item frames in his storage and tanked his FPS. You might want to re-think that. He ended up using actual blocks and as few frames as possible so he didn't affect server performance.

Impulse did state that he also had to take the number of people around his base, like the mountain folk, the postal crew +cub, etc. Wels lives further away, on a far side of the Neighborhood, so his personal impact might be less than Impulse. Impulse also tends to cram his base full of his redstone contraptions.

Your building what is essentially a storage room in a castle. I think wall torches are justified and don't need to be replaced with anything fancier. Consider it a bonus to this build style.

Just make it your permanent base Wels, some of us are tired of unfinished mega bases, just go vertical and focus on the details, we're happy to see you enjoy playing and don't stress on the planning for your base. Keep the videos coming. A keep, a bastion, a castle, build what inspires you. Your base gives me a Stronghold game vibe, and we're loving it.

Some sea pickles, coral, and kelp would give those pools a lot of atmosphere, plus light up the area even more. Toss sone axolotls in for even more flavor.

The Minister of Lights WelskBrights hard at work, keeping the streets lit in the darkest of nights. I'm loving the cozy vibes you've been showing and I think your builds and ideas are really cool! I have an idea for the storage room how about you try putting chains on the outer and fences on the inner walkways.

I love the design idea a lot and hope, you won‘t regret the massiv storage room with only the 4 path to the center. To grab some blocks from different categories like cobble, redstone, iron and quarz to craft some redstone components or find wood and other building blocks while running left right and center feels like a nitghtmare to me. And then I would forget to grab a thing and have to run again 😅 which gets very time consuming.

#labels … 🤔remember item frames are entities😉 Other options could be: ….waxed signs (signs can cause lag, but waxed are supposed to be locked, so maybe not laggy after waxed?)….put representative block in floor in front of chests, leaving the need for other sign types at a minimum….put columns between chest stacks to hold representative blocks to left or right of each chest. Really loving the chill building vibe this season. ❤ Pirate den, hmmm?

All the waxed sign does is lock it from being edited... in 99% certain that any and all signs and item frames cause loads of lag in large quantities. Armorstands also cause lag but only if they dont get modified by the special book turn off gravity and then lock it so it cant accept items. Honestly anything classified as an "entity" causes lag, this includes everything stated above as well as minecarts, boats and the newer decorative clay pots introduced with archeology... well and mobs of all sorts.

4*9*2 per alcove is 72 chests, 3+3+4+2 full alcoves is 12 + small alcove 4*5*2=40 so 72*12+40=720+144+40=800+104=904 so a total of 904 single chests or 904/64 (use calc)=14.125 or 14 stacks and 8 chests used to make this. This gives you a total of 904/2*54=452*54=24408 slots of storage (edited spelling)

I love your base so far. It's beautiful! And somehow, the silly nether portal and the random, small bases (for the Hermitcraft server) make the whole area feel like it was built on a little server where a few friends play on as a hobby. And I think that vibe is what everyone loves so much about this season.

With all those mudbrick blocks being hidden behind chests I think I would have gone with something farmable like broken mushroom blocks or something that I could mine quickly like terracotta.

Hi Wells and everyone else, something I have been doing for light but non visible light is where you have the stairs placed above the chests. I have been putting shroom lights or glow stone there and the stairs facing towards the wall where the slab is. Blocks 99% of the sight if the shroom lights but still lights up through the chests since they're not full blocks. Just a way for light with some darker ambiance have fun trying it everyone!!

If anyone hasn't done it yet, or doesn't have a plan to do it, you could make a racing circuit for horses, And maybe have the others bet 2 diamonds each, and whoever wins gets 3 and you keep one.

You should build in Tuff walls in the center of the storage room... that would allow some cool additions to the look of a smugglers cave. Add in the natural cave to suggest that it was carved for this. It allows you to use the chains for the railing and not have it be so busy. Then have a center focal point of a meeting table that these smugglers meet at to plan their shenanigans perhaps??

Good job on your storage Wels! Been a while since I've seen a more in depth storage build, or any at all from hermits. It's an element of Minecraft I always like to build, its organizing and yet an excuse to make a cozy room. Keep up the way you make content, it's more relaxed not just layer-builds of schematics. Others became so hasty and answer fully to the needy overactive kids that needs something big and new every 2 minutes, an endless process of overshadowing the previous work/seasons.

This is one of my favourite bases so far this season for sure! Its coming along so nicely, and being developed exactly like a base shud i think, step by step as the ideas spawn rather than completely pre-planned :)

Axolotl, sea pickle, fish in the water. Big fire pit/ lava / forge in the center. A combo of Fire and Water in the central area of the storage room.

It's actually quite deceiving to look at. The storage looks a lot on camera, but I estimate that there's only around ~500 double chests around the outside of the room. By comparison, my typical go-to storage design uses around ~920 double chests in themed aisles, albeit with a footprint that is probably 3x the size of this room. So if you're a hoarder like I am, and enjoy the process of organising everything into designated chests, I think you'll easily fill up this storage by the end of the season! Even if condensing bulk items with Shulker boxes 😊 Scar had a crazy huge storage system in Season 9, and it took me about 12 hours to sort through everything he hoarded and move it all to my storage. 😄 I look forward to raiding this room for materials when the world download goes live! 🤗

Something that could look cool is replacing the middle 1 or 2 fences with fence gates so there is some more variation and detail in the railing 24:01

Looks great--would be cool to recess the floor down a slab and put soul soil under it. With soul speed boots and a beacon with speed, you'd be able to run around a lot quicker which would probably save a lot of time running around such a big room for the whole season. So glad you're posting regularly again :)

I know you just built your whole storage room, but it gives me Thieves guild hideout vibes from Skyrim, and it could be cool if you leaned in on it more and made a bar area with a secret entrance in a wardrobe to the storage room like the Ragged Flagon. (could also do a cool vault).

Amazing work on this storage room! If you are open to ideas, a couple fence gates in the railing gives more view of the nice ponds and since you have some room in the ceiling that would be a cool place to do small builds that involve material you want to store below as a kind of label representation.

Love the storage room. Oak fences look great, but IF you wanted chains, could place verticaly with gray carpet or pressure plates on top if wanted to solve the corner issue?

Oh I love the internal water features. I cant wait to see how you do the roof to fit. Like what kinda vibe are we gonna get? Cave or wooden to match the smugglers theme? a buried dome to match the tuft columns? and if that stairway isnt intended to be the main entrance I cant wait to see how you fit that in. A secret door, an underwater cave that comes up in one of the water features? Oh man my imagination is running wild and Im very inspired to make a DnD smugglers den based on this. Thanks for the awesome episode!

Looks great. Along the smuggler theme, how about a little tunnel thats like a secret passage that comes out of a cave nestled into the castle wall, with vines covering the entrance of the cave.

Love the storage room! I think all of those item frames may cause alot of lag though. Putting blocks in front the the chest rows may be a good alternative 😊

Have you tried iron bars instead of the oak fences? Might give you a similar look to the chains. You could always ask tango for some iron too. If not, dark oak could look nice and give a bit of a darker colour like the chains would! Also, i love adding a button in the same colour on every 3rd fence/wall to add some variation in height, gives a bit of texture. :)

the storage room looks awesome! i dont know how its fits based on the layout of the island, but it could be a prime opportunity to fit in a hidden smugglers pier. it fits thematically with the smugglers den look youre going for and it could give you quick access via the river.

I was wondering if water was going to be what you put in the holes and i really really enjoy that look once it was done. it'd be a LOT of iron, but did you try iron bars around as railings? could maybe fit your chain idea! I do love the oak fence too though, makes it seem very walkway already

For anyone who wants to know, there is 1048 chests (524 double chests), meaning there is enough for 28296 stacks of items, or 1810944 items (stacks of 64)

I don't know if you are into afk farms, but you might look into making a frog light farm on the nether roof. Every time I've made one I end up with tons of lights and they are great for looks or putting under moss carpet

I think using the little splash of color in order to color coordinate different parts of the storage can make it a lot more accessible. But it looks really really good!

It's pricey, but the bottoms of smithing tables would make a great ceiling. Checkered smithing tables and cauldrons also looks fantastic.

Item frames on all chests will get laggy, you should opt for placing an indicator block on the ground in front of the chest stack, your pillars come forward of the chests, so should be nicely 'framed' by the pillars on the ground.

I really love the storage! Maybe something like a forge? or something in the middle or a underground old tree? Been loving your episodes lately, you seem to have so much fun and you sound happy and that is the main thing one wants to see. I also really dig the base somehow giving me Skyrim vibes : )

I like the little light posts dotted around the path, but I'd like to bring an expansion idea to the Minister of Light: how about some larger light poles near junctions or major off shoots of the road?
