Startups in India need to change. I feel most of them are just chasing valuations, and focus on urban probems, not rural. And there is a clear IIM / IIT bias going on among investors.

BYJU's was created to encourage online coaching and then acquired Aakash to encourage offline coaching 😂😂😂😂😂

Byju ' s fall is from acquiring Whitehat junior , an online coding program for kids from 3 yrs on. Whitehat, when it was running the show, it hired good and less number coding instructors who understood they were teaching young kids where their level of knowledge has to be dropped down to a kid of 3 yrs on. When Byju was taken over, we could see instructors were not professional subject wise. They were trained to teach!!! They couldn't clear kids' doubts or were able to communicate well. Later acquiring Akash!!!! And story begins.

yeah, so very recently I wanted a course from byjus but didnt had enough money to spend so, gave a scholarship test. After the test i got a call from byjus saying you will get a counselling session and i instantly clarified that i dont have much money to spend to which he said the maximum it might cost you will be 20,000/-. I said okay the counselling session went great after which the price talks came in wherein the price they started with was 1,00,000/- I clearly stated a BIG NO. Next day i got a call from byjus again saying its for feedback wherein i told him i cannot afford 1,00,000/- he said we will give you a discount and cut down the price to 50,000/-. still i said i cannot. Because thats overbudget, at last he cut the call saying " Tera Exam Bhi Ghanta Clear Hoga ".... also in the counselling session she clarified i have to buy the batch in the session itself and then the next day i get a call to sell the same course.... HIPOCRACY at its peak

“Everyone has almost the same information but the way information is packaged and presented is the key differentiator! & driver for our growth”. This was golden in the sense innovation does not have to be an entirely new idea or concept but if you are creative/ innovative you can rinse & repeat what exists and present it in a novel way or with a new perspective. A few months ago I knew nothing about these young adults who are enthusiastic about a new India & creating buisness with drive to be the best. Inspiring stories.

It is incredibly naive to compare scams, misconducts that happens in India vs. US and saying it is not even 1% of what happened there. We should hold ourselves to a standard even higher than US or any other country. That will help us build truly global products/companies, build trust and that will attract both investors and customers to Indian companies and enhance our economy by adding several billions and possible trillions of dollars. Think Samsung, Honda etc that build robust brands with customers worldwide. While I understand your sentiment was to say Indian startup ecosystem has some great companies as well, any misconduct from major players negatively affects investor sentiment, customer trust and overall will take away money towards other countries if things don't change.

The main reason startups are failing because of core morality, principal and classism. When a ceo from a humble background gets a lot of money all at once becomes blind and distracted. This happens less in western countries because they already lived full Ives and focuses on solving problems and capitalising on the method.
