I’ve listened to this message several times… very instructive and edifying! Truly, when we ponder how much He has given (Jn. 3:16; Rom 8:32), why do we ask for so little? (Of course, as you point out, this requires our being our best for His glory, suffering , sacrifice, and is not the work of a moment.) I also found the brief section at the end instructive: “Lord, since you’re here with me, help me honor you now.” (-T. Sumpter) Godspeed.

This unfortunately missed where we are. It fell into Andrew Tateism where the worship is unchecked on being busy and hustle. Maybe it’s not the same in the south, but in the big cities, the idol of being too busy for families is a big problem. Most people I’ve worked with take adderall to keep up. They don’t know rest. They don’t know God, they’re too busy for Him. Sloth is not the problem today, overworking is. There are scriptures that deal with the impact of overworking too. A couple of examples: Exodus with Pharaoh providing less straw, and in 2 Kings (re Elisha) with the husband being too busy to notice his own son had died.

I think he's mistaken in his call for Christian men to become large-scale leaders, e.g., corporate leaders. The gifts required for large-scale leadership are extremely rare, e.g., exceptional IQ, wisdom, social skills, etc. Hard and wise work is not enough. Exceptional gifts are also required. His call is similar to calling Christian young men to become professional athletes. Otherwise, a very good sermon.
