I like your angle on watch collecting. I believe that there are basically 2 types of purchases. 1. Investment 2. Expense. Some people think that Luxury watches are an investment, but with the cost of upkeep, they can become an expense. I also would hate to know that I purchased a watch for 10k and didn't like it after I had worn it for a while. Keep looking for the watch that you want. Sometimes, the search is the most fun.

100% agree. I'm very close to choosing a grail watch or two. The hurdle of ongoing service costs is still a big question mark for me. I'm not sure if I'm willing to spend thousands on its purchase, and then more money out of pocket for periodic service.

I have 3 luxury watches that i rarely wear, I love my Pagani/Thorn/heimdallar/steeldive watches because they feel and look great but if I trap my wrist in a hungry polar bears mouth I wont cry till next Febuarary. Nice collection and similar to my own, Screw the watch snobs, wear what you love, My all time favourite is my Steeldive kermit on a bright orange fkm

This is the great debate isn't it. Own one luxury watch or many affordable/budget watches. I'm with you, I pick the affordable/budget watches. There has never been a better time to be a budget watch collector. There are so many great microbrands and then of course all the higher end AliExpress watches. Why limit yourself to one boring luxury watch that everyone and their brother owns! Have fun!

Great video, agree on the moonswatch they're trash. Im not sure how your collection is seen as creepy homages. I too have a number of Chinese made watches and I'm on a watch journey too. I'm working my way to more expensive pieces from Hamilton and Tudor.

Thanks for watching! Indeed, not everyone will see homages in the same way. I'd much rather buy a homage than a replica or super clone. My journey will eventually end with a Tudor or Omega or.......but in the meantime I'm enjoying the variety, and the aspect of buying and selling.

Thanks for watching, and I appreciate your comments. I can't spend big money on a watch and end up not liking it. This allows me to try different styles and sizes to see what suits my lifestyle, and what design speaks to me. I'm now at the point where I see what spends the most time on my wrist, and in the process of listing almost everything for sale. The exception will be the Favre Leuba which my Dad gave me on my 16th birthday, and probably the white dial Seiko5 mod.

@@TuneTimeOttawa I get that but a Speedy or Tudor can be had for reasonable and if you buy right you can get your money back out pretty quick and I think there is more to a watch than just the astehtics hence why people pay thousands for the real deal.

@@TuneTimeOttawa Good luck buddy I hope you get all the grails.I love my Rolex AD but must say don't completley balk at used my latest purchase was a Breitling B09 Chronograph $8750 retail bought for $5000 cash 9 months old in minty condition my AD sells those but only gives 10% off so huge savings over AD.But you can't beat the AD experience that is what your paying extra for my advise is to limit those to Rolex purchases.Have a great night!Good luck to you!

Hello, and thanks for the time you spent on this vid. And it was a so surprising video to look at. Because with so much money spent into so many creepy "hommage" chinese watches, you surrely could have bought a Tudor plus an Omega. With your Orient, your Citizen, your Casio Duro and two of your Seikos, it could have done a great collection, with 7 or 8 good watches. So, if I may, I've got a question : why do you prefer this amont of Pagani, Corgeut, Tandorio and others?

I'm on a journey to discover what I like, and what I eventually want to own long term. I will be saving up to get an Aqua Terra, but it will take a while, since it's almost CAD$9000. I also like variety, and want to wear something different every few days. Thanks for watching!
@user-ke6xt1yl1l
@user-ke6xt1yl1l 6 ай бұрын
@@TuneTimeOttawa Ok. I could understand. Especially about the Aqua Terra, which is surrely a watch I'd love to buy but which is also too expensive for me. Perhaps one day as a second hand. Did you think about second hand big brands watches? Did you know, about first hand watches, about some less big brands? There are so many interesting ones, like Longines, Tissot, Yema, Nomos, Vostok or the chinese Sea-Gull for exemple? Or, about microbrands, some Christopher Ward, Zelos, Wise, Baltic or the chineses San Martin and Atelier Wen for exemple?
@TuneTimeOttawa
@TuneTimeOttawa 6 ай бұрын
@@user-ke6xt1yl1l the biggest problem with second hand is finding good examples with service history. If I'm going to spend a few thousand on a second hand watch, I'd rather save up a bit more and buy new. San Martin watches are roughly CAD$350 each. That's a bit beyond my threshold for one watch, especially from China. That's why I'm comfortable with the other brands that I have - they were around CAD$100 each, and many were less. The Baltany was almost CAD$300 after it landed, but I don't regret that purchase at all.

I actually feel like you have a great taste in watches but unfortunately I could never personally do what you do. Dont get me wrong by all means do what you do the only thing that matters is that you enjoy your collection and you like to look at it but I personally would rather have one expensive original watch that I can pass on to my child rather than having 30 something homage watches that are really good at looking like the real thing but lack the story, the history and the character the originals have. I dont even know why I'm writing this comment, maybe its because I'm a bit jealous even. If I like a watch I will save for an unreal amount of time to buy the thing I like - for me homage watches just dont scratch the itch. Congratulations if they do for you (because again: You have great taste!).

Thanks for watching, and for your comments! Part of this journey for me is to find out what I like, and then to spend good money on a few watches. I've realized after buying some that I don't like chronographs. Love the way they look, but they don't suit my lifestyle. My grail watch is an Aqua Terra, and I've started to save for it. Selling off the watches I don't like will add to that savings fund. But, it will take me a while to save up CAD$9000! And, I'm not buying it pre-owned, unless it's from an AD with a warranty.

@@TuneTimeOttawa that actually makes a lot of sense! This way you can keep yoir watch-mistakes cheap 🤝 And you're right, I definetly also recommend buying new from an AD if you want to keep it! That way you save yourself some troubles and its far more emotional! 😁👍

Feel like an absolute hater but i see this collection and i feel very little, Just a bunch of Chinese knock offs. You could of had a handful of really great watches for what you've spent on all these and the additional straps and watch boxes. I guess if you're happy who am i to judge 😅. Just feels like a waste, good video regardless.🙏

Thanks for watching, and for your comment! I couldn't see myself spending thousands on one watch that I might not like. So, this is a journey for me to narrow down what suits my lifestyle (features) and what I feel looks good on my wrist. I also like buying and selling. In that respect, the investment will be minimal, and it'll help get me closer to my goal with zero regrets and buyer remorse.

My view is its not like they are fakes and, as a result, fraudulent. The brands aren't claiming to be Rolex, AP, Patek, or Tudor they are just similar designs. Overall they represent very good quality for the price and within reach of lower income earners who could not afford the real deal ever
