On February 11, 2021, Band Maid concert at the Budokan Hall in Tokyo. This is one of the most famous concert halls in Japan, a bit like Madison Square Garden in the USA, that's why this gig was announced in advance.

I hope they have a ticket pre-sale for the overseas O-MEI-SYU-SAMA. I want to be close to the stage at Budokan.

It gets weirder guys.. The animation artist who produced Sponge Bob Square-paint and did the voice and singing for that character , actually brought the band to the attention of producer Visconti, and Visconti asked him to write the English lyrics for the song. The girls recorded all the stems and parts for the track in Tokyo and Miku and Saiki travelled to New York to assemble the tracking and do the Vocals also recorded T- Rex in 70's too.. I got this info from translated interviews with the girls.

About maid outfit, They are all just changed for new maid outfit which is much more adult like. I saw their new outfits at 'Sinka' live which recently held. Actually live version of `The Dragon cries` was much better and specially `Rinne' was arrenged as much longer version in live compare to official video.

The outfits are an integral part of the image they wish to present , which is contrast. I believe they see themselves as a live band and will evolve with this look.

I don't think that you'll have to worry about them losing their costumes. They just unveiled their new ones for the year and they have gone all in with the frills and glitter and whatnot. Just you wait lol.

@@viaverde3153 So Zematitis makes Flying Vs now. When Miku played it a few nights ago on Rinne in (Tokyo), it didn't look like a Gibson, so I was wondering who was the manufacturer. I hope that they got enough spare outfits so that the manager doesn't need to "hand-wash" them each night after a gig.

I just managed to spot their outfit change only from far away at a recent live concert. I really love Misa and Saiki's outfit, the skirts looking like long coats adding weight to their appearances, and the extra frills on Miku and Mincho's skirt making them look cuter. I couldn't spot too much of a difference for Akane's outfit, except for maybe the neck and chest parts (Most of Akane's body was concealed by the drum kit). Just found a live report with photos (It's in Japanese though). spice.eplus.jp/articles/265272

After watching this MV a few times, I finally realised that the snake (which, for the lack of budget, symbolizes the Dragon here), is turning into a child, and then back into a snake. For me, it's pretty much the same idea as God obtaining flesh in a Manifestation/Avatar/Buddha/Son of God/whatever you call it. Yes, it's definitely some Higher Being from the world of the spirits. And that Higher Being must be God, because she cries for us, and bewails our errors and transgressions. Definitely, Miku speaks about Benzaiten here: serpentsanctum.com/benzaiten-white-snake-goddess-of-japan/ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Benzaiten is a Japanese water goddess of fertility and flow-of rivers and waters, language and poetry, music, dance, and abundant wealth and good fortune. Benzaiten is the only female figure within “The Seven Lucky Gods” (known as the Shichi Fukujin) of Japanese Shintōism, and most often appears with a white snake as her headdress. Dragons and serpents are her messengers and avatars, and she herself can appear as a white snake. Benzaiten is one of Japan’s most widely venerated deities. In Shintō, snakes are considered as a minor type of Dragon and share many of the mythological traits of that creature. As in Chinese mythology, Japanese dragons are associated with water (especially rivers) and although they are powerful and potentially frightening, Chinese and Japanese traditions honour them as benevolent, just, and wise. Dragons and snakes are the bearers and guardians of the sacred wish-granting jewel that represents enlightenment and sacred wisdom, and snakes are understood to be Dragons’ messengers in the world of humans. Thanks to their ability to continually shed their skin and be reborn, these serpents are known as shapeshifters in Japanese mythology and can live to be thousands of years old, able to walk between the underworld, heaven, and the human world. Shintō priests and practitioners will always try to avoid harming a snake if they come across such an animal in daily life-in fact, encountering a live snake is considered an extremely lucky omen, while encountering a dead one is considered a sign of misfortunes to come.

This song was produced by Tony Visconti (Bowie's and T-Rex's), vocals recorded in New York. Classic rock + 90s bands vibes, like Soundgarden. Also some 98-2004 Pearl Jam's sound and some AIC last albums.

And Kanami sounds similar to Ritchie Blackmore. But overall, the song has rather Black Sabbath vibe, I think. That outstanding bass here reminds me of Terry Geezer Butler, and Akane's style of drumming here, when she hits the drums with both hands simultaneously, is very much reminiscent of Bill Ward. And of course, the message of this song immediately brings War Pigs into mind.

Thanks for the quick reaction. This is growing to be one of my favs off the album. Where you oooh at that end of Kanami's solo that was our little pigeon doing some finger picking (she is amazing). This video sound mix seems to be better than the album for instrument separation, I can more clearly hear MISA's bass than on the album. As I understand it, Miku wrote the original lyrics, then they were re-written in English for the album, so I'm guessing that the core idea's are Miku's. I agree that making changes is sometimes difficult and was glad to see them try for songs different than before. I remember watching Bowie when he first came out and then all the changes he went through during his career, staying the same is static, change is good. The best musicians are constantly evolving and trying new approaches to music.

4:25 OH God HAAAAAAh "The reaction thing". Ikr? I'm an older drummer/singer/factory worker/sound guy and I love watching people react to things they're not used to. But come on!!! Really? Jumping around the room, screaming, staring at the cam, doing the same crazy spastic moves for EVERY video they upload? Ya.....loved it when you guys called these fake reactors out. Oh well, everyone needs to make a buck. You have real hard working folks, and then you have the street corner panhandlers. I know some are just barely able to afford some cheap wine or a score down two alleys. Thanks to folks like you who are musicians listening to other musicians....you and some others I respect...keep it real...weather you get likes/subs or not. This is your passion. Keep on keeping it on and stay safe n sound. PEACE. ✌😎👍

Oh yea, forgot to mention this song, first time hearing it and it's been 6 months since release? This gives me a Steppenwolf The Pusher vibe from way back when I heard it in the late 60's. The Pusher wasn't the happy rock n roll song style that we were used to from Steppenwolf back then. I likey.

In East Asian (Japan/China/Korea) historical culture, the dragon is a benevolent - not destructive - creature that brings water and so life. The dragon crying, therefore is meant as a metaphorical (hence the video) reference to what is happening on the planet - a bit of a departure for BM. Also their first song completely sung in English rather than Japanese. The vocal track was mixed in New York by legendary producer Tony Visconti (David Bowie etc)!

For the lack of budget, a dragon could not be hired, so, they had to satisfy themselves with a snake. They do apologize. It's interesting that the child on the stairs, seems to be that Dragon, taking a human form, and then turning back into a snake.

Otoboke Beaver dropped a new song and video this week too. It's one of the most punk rock things I've seen in a long time. The video is even made in that old school punk DIY ethos. Love to see your reaction. If you do be sure to watch the version link. Because theris a version with English subs in the video and one with Japanese. This song may be deeper than one realizes, I may be wrong but I think in that culture when one refers to 'The' Dragon this is a reference to a God like entity. Not just some Hollywood image of a dragon that we may have.

To touch on the outfits a bit, comparing them to Slash and his top hat is probably a little awkward, considering Slash is already famous worldwide, so it really wouldn't make a difference, while Band Maid definitely still have a very long way to go before they're actually well known. Besides, in interviews they stated they feel most comfortable playing in their outfits, and playing without them would feel weird at this point, so either way I highly doubt they'll get rid of them anytime soon. That being said though, I do think Band Maid's music doesn't need any gimmick since it's absolutely incredible, but it definitely helps with both branding and just being recognisable overall, so I'm all for it!

im as big a fan boy for Band-Maid as one can be... but frankly the guy who put together the video should just go back to politics or something... the jarring images literally overpowered the song by the second verse, made me unhappy and just reeked of self loathing. My Band-Maid rocks your socks off, makes you jump and dance and you cant stop smiling.... I guess wonderboy producer was just that much more important than silly old music. The world loves my Band-Maid.... lets just hope they are still in there...
