Groovy Bungaloft
Built in 1962 this insanely amazing mid century mansion had only one owner and almost nothing has changed in the home since then! Sitting on a huge four acre lot with a swimming pool, the house was sold in 2020 for $12,000,000. Unfortunately given the area where it is located the home will almost certainly be demolished in the near future to make way for a much larger mansion.
The owner of this home (let's call him Jeff) was born in 1933, he paid for his university education from being a reservist in the Royal Canadian Air Force. Jeff began his career as a prospector in Northern Ontario and Quebec almost 60 years ago and has staked many claims during that time Over his decades long career, he had developed mines all over the world, mostly copper, nickel and gold. One such mine was sold in 1994 which provided him with a perpetual royalty payment that was as much as $7 million per year. A very savvy business man and he also liked to invest his profits in the stock market, where he both lost and made millions. Jeff was also very generous, having donated an eight-figure sum to various charities over the years. One interesting thing to note is that he also had a favourite restaurant where he went every day for 30 years.
Jeff passed away in 2015 at the age of 81 and his wife of 53 years passed in 2020 at the age of 87.

This house is something i can definitely live in. Probably one of the few original homes left in this particular area too. That one room in the basement is my ultimate vinyl room. Just gotta redo them shelving. That one stove in the kitchen is called a “Flair” stove. Very highly sought after and expensive. There is so much more i can say but I’d be writing a story. Milk in a bag is an Eastern Canada thing. Out here in Western we dont do that. Excellent work JH. Big Hugs. P.S. i was expecting some sort of psychedelic dancing in that room. 😆😆😆😆

Hi James, You did such an excellent job on this explore. You lingered on the details and gave an awesome backstory. The basement retro room has always been my favorite, along with everyone else. I like all those crazy wallpapers but wouldn't want to live with them. The one paper that was white background and bright flowers is from the 1990s. I remember that paper from the 90s wallpaper era. And you cracked me up 🤣 when you said something from the 90's was ancient. LOL You see, I was born in the 50s. I guess I am ancient, too LOL Good work! Stay safe

I have seen a stove like that on another video. It was very high tech for the time. A elderly woman was demonstrating it. She said when she bought her house she was single and spent most of the day working. She said the oven had probes you put in your meat and she would sit the oven to click on and when it was done it would shut off by itself and dinner was done the time she got home from work. LOL she said she wouldn't trust a oven to be on when she wasn't there if she had it to do over again aq

Have all the pieces for mine. The meat probe is amazing. Even has a burner that will adjust the temp on its own so you don't have to stir anything. You can shut the burner drawer it would shut the burners off.. I don't trust that so I shut it off first them shut. Its a beautiful machine!

Hi James I have seen this house by so many other explorers. I like it anyway. It is a nice house and should not be abandon. I like all those wallpapers. The best one is the one you said was made of sand. The chandelier was a beauty. I thought that basement would never end. I never saw milk in a bag.🤮. I like that big kitchen. It’s a shame to destroy it but you know that is what they call progress. It’s stupid to destroy a nice house that has a few problems that certainly can be fixed. James you have taken us on another enjoyable adventure…. Stay safe and well and I will see you in the next STATIC SPACE.❤

Hi James. This was a very big and also very retro place. I’ve never seen so many different types/textures of wallpaper. I love the staircase in the entry way. Beautiful video of a beautiful home. It looks like it was completely decorated by a professional and then some 'updates' were done in the kitchen to bring in gas appliances. The cork board wallpaper (?) as all the wallpapers, the drapes and the built-ins were gorgeous! . Did you notice the signed 1962 signed wallpaper (the blue birds)? The painted cupboards in the room with two refrigerators look like my sisters Barbie kitchen she got in 1963! You are getting a good education in decor with these homes!

I don’t know why I got chills at the end of this viewing…. LOVED period music YOU SELECTED NO one else would have done that YOU ARE SO Thorough including your research ! and as you stated OVER and AGAIN… THIS WAS AN AMAZING explore …. And you deserved to find it FIRST YOU have TURNED INTO MY FAVORITE EXPLORER 🏆 gotta say this ….. I KNOW the GOLDEN RULE …. NEVER take ANYTHING… but THIS TIME …. I HAVE to give myself a pass …. Many of the wall hanging ART that African Doll ( hopefully a spell or curse would not be put on me for having it Some of those curtains too ! I was wondering as I watched could ALL of the decay happened AFTER the owners were gone or did it start b4 they left ,Or maybe the squatter put that reinforcement to the ceiling ? I could shed a tear knowing that this HOME will be DEMOLISHED 😢
@StaticSpaces
@StaticSpaces Жыл бұрын
Thank you, yes i tried very hard to find appropriate music for this one, was no easy task, glad you noticed. I was lucky with this one, i went there with a good friend that was kind enough to share. As for the decay and that collapsing ceiling, i think it was all there while people were still living in the home. I think the reason for it was because an older couple lived there their entire lives and the family knew that when the house was sold, that it would be demolished anyway...so they didn't bother to keep it up. Really glad you are enjoying the videos Bruce and thanks so much for the comment!!
