Our county has whats called residency where we have volunteers that are at the station 24 hours for a specific shift day. They are always the ones called first for a mutual aid or brush fire because they can get there first. In the case of a brush fire, they call out it seems the stations with residency first before they call out the ones who have to drive to the station. It creates a faster response time and makes for less damage unless of course it was called in too late. But none the less, great response time from these guys. And a very nice catch!

***** We have a few stations that do that, but most people drive to the station. It's a good idea, but I feel that most people don't have time to do that. Also we don't have a very high call volume.

FireRescue 50 Our program helps pay the majority of college for residents. So you can guess that the majority of the resident firefighters are all guys going through college until they can move on to a full time department. It's great for getting experience and exposure to the job.
@Fire-Rescue509 жыл бұрын
Yeah, we have one guy here at our station that goes to collage, and then lives at the firehouse. Not sure that he has plans for a full time department, but I can see people doing that.

As many pick-up trucks as fire apparatus ! OK so a few things....most notable, is this a volunteer dept ? It has to be, considering the time of response, and the order at which the rigs responded. Why pick-up trucks before ladder truck ? Terrible sirens , except the last rig out of quarters. And one more thing...was the structure fire quite a few miles away ? I noticed the guys on the back didn't have their bunker coat on, as I saw bare arms hanging out of the window !! I did that once, on the way to a structure fire, we were the 2nd station dispatched. We were also about 7-10 minutes away. The 1st station had 3 apparatus', and they had all arrived prior to us. So, as the Captain was enjoying the black smoke billowing up into the sky, he looked back at us to see if we were enjoying it too. That's when he saw me not getting ready. I had everything on, except for my SCBA, mask, gloves, and hood. We have a 3-seater in the back of our front Engine. All 3 seats face forward. Middle seat is tight. So, I figured I'd wait until the middle firefighter got ready, then I could do so without any interference by me ;-) Plus, he's anal, so I didn't want to hear any shit from him. A Navy man. Put it this way, his stall is next to mine. He puts his bunker suspenders directly in the middle of the opening on his boots. Well, good ole' moi tends to "accidentally" hit them as soon as I walk by, nudging them over just a bit ! Last time, it was "Someone's fuckin' with the gear", as we were getting dressed :-) I just have to. Peace. Stay low and let it blow !!

pretty near 5 minutes for the last truck. I bet they saved the basement
@Fire-Rescue5010 жыл бұрын
Well they are all vollenteer, so it takes some time to get all of the people at the station, in their gear, and on the trucks. 5:00 is pretty good for an entire station to get out, not to mention the first truck was out in under 10 seconds from when I startes the video, and when they had everyone ready they all came out at about the same time. They also have other stations responding, so it's not like only one station responded out. In fact the one station that responded out was right up the street from the fire. This is about the responce time alot of the stations in the southern part of the county have unless all of the firemen are at the station, in which the responce time is usually under a minute or two. And the fires they get are usually not much but some smoke from burnt food or maybe a faulty electrical appliance.

@@Fire-Rescue50 I am from PA as well. Glad to see a person or persons for all apparatus. We are very rural but somehow make it work.dispatch has a 9 minute notice if your not out the door from the time The tones drop. The hell with all the negative comments . Keep up the good work.
@eastercomesearly229310 жыл бұрын
It's in Lancaster Pa. The van is a squad/firepolice. And it takes a while for the vol firemen to get there. All around the station is just shopping centers sadly. The station's also on a highway. Also not alot of houses near the station. The have that many engines because we live in the country where brush fires are more common. And all this is coming from a 14 year old on the other side of the county. Refton or west willow is maybe the next closes station.

Powercall shouldn't be used as a primary siren in my opinion. A lot of people don't recognize the sound. Great in conjunction with a Q siren.

How come a rescue would be the first apparatus to respond to a dwelling fire? Was there a first due engine from another station already en route? Just curious, good video.
@Fire-Rescue5010 жыл бұрын
Yes they did have another engine that was closer. To tell you the truth I don't know why the rescue went out first. Usually they take the engine, then the tower, and then the rescue.

@DOC I am and have been a volunteer firefighter for a fire department in Western NYState. Volunteer fire departments are not staffed 24/7 so it will take them longer to depart from the station due to the drive from a business or residents.
