Stationeers Europa Playthrough Part 1: Let's Get Started!

Күн бұрынIt's 2024 and I've returned to space survival game Stationeers!
This time I'm playing on Europa, where key challenges include extreme cold and low light levels. As I play through the game I try to narrate what I'm doing and why. A lot has changed in the time I've been away and I'm expecting various things to go wrong - how will I get on?
In this episode I establish a starter base and the key machinery I will need to get started such as an autolathe, a hydraulic pipe bender and an electronics printer. I also get the basic structure of a greenhouse set up and start planning how to capture available waste heat from my industrial activites, with a plan to use it to help with climate control.

In case you didn't know because I haven't seen you do it, you can double click with the mouse while hovering over an object to move it between inventories

Thanks - good to be back! Not intentional - my mic seems to be dying. On the next video it's started reverb, which I've had to try to minimise in post (although couldn't completely get rid of sadly). I've tried all the settings but pretty sure it's a hardware fault... New mic is on order!

Welcome back Murk! I've been very slowly going through the back catalogue. I think you might need to boost the voice audio track (or lower the game). Looking forward to the play through!

Yeah it turned out my mic was in the process of dying so my settings didn't produce the expected output. Part 2 audio had a weird echo, and then it died completely. I have a new one ready for Part 3 (although it may take some practice to get the volume right)

I'm pretty sure you can safely heat up the inside with the flares.

I get overly paranoid about fires in Stationeers. More than I need to be - it's a lot harder to start one than it used to be. Or I guess, maybe I'm not paranoid and that's why I don't start them! But yes flares will work. Just be careful lighting a lot in small habs because once lit you can't "turn them off" and you'll have to throw them outside if it starts to overheat

Yes that's a better way to do it. My frustration is that at some point they changed it so that any object you just drop is upside down... Trying it with canned food for example. Just looks odd!

Why do you switch between belts? I generally just leave the mining belt equipped then open the toolbelt menu and leave it open that way i can access both at the same time

I just discovered you and this series. I've been playing the game since 2021. I started a new save to play along with this series but I have a problem. My batteries don't last long enough. I restarted the save and lowered my suit temp to 2c and very sparingly use the light. I'm playing on the latest version as of this date and on easy difficulty. Any thoughts on what I might be doing wrong?

Batteries really hate the deep cold of Europa. They key thing is as soon as possible get a station battery built somewhere warm. That will retain your power and give you a source to recharge from. It's one of the main reasons I built the outer workshop in this playthrough - it's still far too cold for a human but is about 100C warmer than outside

Which mod are you using for this playthrough ? For the increased ore I havn't found any mod that works. So any help would be appreciated.

There should be a "MiningYield" setting you can change in "difficultySettings.xml". I actually copied one of the existing difficulties and pasted it in for a 4th difficulty that has my custom environment settings.

I had left an old one enabled. It doesn't work - it just stopped nitrice from spawning

So I've manually modded the ore drop rate before and that was done in a worldsettings.xml file that is now missing from my current save. I'm betting that's why the old ore drop mods aren't working.

I stopped looking for mods where increased ore rate works on Vulcan and/or Venus. They all seem to only work on any other than those two. So I made my own mod, that works in all scenarios @@feidry
