Stationeers Venus is a KZfaq series adapted from a Twitch stream where we are going to try to survive on the surface of Venus. This series isn't specifically a 'tutorial series' but for new players to Stationeers I suspect there will be a lot to learn.
Also, a disclaimer. This video is an hour long segment of a stream that aired live on Twitch. The videos on KZfaq release with considerable lag time behind the Twitch streams and, as a result, I am many hours ( usually more than 10 ) ahead of when this episode takes place. Please keep that in mind when providing feedback in the comments.
If you would like catch a live stream of this check out my stream schedule and countdown timer at rhadamant.com and rhadamant.com/...
As a Twitch series the content focuses far more on entertainment than playing efficiently or min/maxing. Please keep that in mind when providing feedback. No additional mods for this series will be considered.

What do you mean? My base is perfect... But... but maybe I could do with another hydroponics. The first one is kinda ugly, and I want it on a sepperate coridor. Also I would like a command center with all the neccessary informations about my base on one place. And the habitats could be a bit bigger and nicer. Also there is this mountain I want to put my landing pats on like crows-nests... But besides that my base is perfect...

Despite being the hottest planet in the solar system, Venus remains the most likely candidate for Terraforming in the future, the fact that it has a notable atmosphere and very near Terran gravity only bolsters the fact. And like Terra and Mars, it lies within the "goldilocks" zone of our star so if conditions were right Terran life could thrive there.

Another thing to note, Lead (Pb) has a melting point of about 350°C and the average surface temperature of Venus is about 450°C, which means Venus could have lakes of Lead if there was enough on the surface.

But to add on to this if we are to save the sol mercy will have to go for eather A: melted down for material into a pattial dyson speare, or B: used to turn. The sun into a black hole by condensing it ito a tiny ass one first. Both would power the system for eons and the Dyson could be colaped and conver the sun Into the blaclhe after and from that we will have massive solar lights to watm earth and memic a sun/and venus when it's colonised making mars a Dome colony.

One thing though, not sure if you thought about it, but with the Waste Tanks being mostly O2. Did you consider using them as your O2 supply for your suit? I would not do well at start on Venus. I take too long deciding things. I always move the crates and tanks into the base before closing the wall so as not to worry about that stuff blowing away when storms hit and not fight pushing that stuff through the doors. Also, I use 6 frames to make a gas storage tank (one of the airlock frames can double for that) and then make a 1 wide stretch in front of the airlock with another door to outside and a active vent that sends to the frame tank. Then put the arc furnace there. Turn it on and dart into the base. The vent collects the gas from the arc furnace. But I do this no mars so not also pumping a lot of outside air into the tank every time I go through the outer door. On planets with thick atmo, you'd just about need a second airlock for the porch to outside.

120 kpa - the pressure in your base equals to 1.2 bar. According to wikipedia the athmosphere on Venus is 93 bar so yeah, I think its safe to say they applied some artistic license when creating the game. They could ofcourse accomodate the challenge by having the player design and produce robots to do the work and move around on Venus and build a base around the spaceship, allowing for the player to exit the vessel. Would be different but I think it could work.

@@Rhadamant Fine, but they could have just picked another planet other than Venus, that way they wouldn't have barred themselves from improving the game in the future and keep the immersion intact. Jules Verne wrote a book which was fiction, but he tried to simulate reality and ended up anticipating the first moon rocket. So simulated fiction can take us somewhere. But I get it you don't like the robots idea, all is still fine and well.

Venus is closer to the sun but its atmosphere is reflecting more sunlight due to its lighter color. Its actually correct that the amount of sunlight reaching the surface is about same as on earth. It is hot on venus primarily because of its dence co2 atmosphere and therefore a super-green-house effect. That is actually realistic. However a day on real venus lasts about 200 earth days if i remember it right. But i guess it would be too much of a challenge if the day in stationeers on venus was 200 times longer.

solid genny only produces power required by downstream circuit... aka APC's 1kw plus whatever else is using power. The only time it produces the full 20kw is when there's a demand for 20kw (such as a station battery requesting power)... however, the rate of coal consumption is fixed. IE: you get a lot less power for the coal burned. Great for an emergency, but hooked up with a stationary battery and heavy cable it's actually a pretty *solid* power source.

@@Rhadamant It wouldn't work forever, eventually the temperature would equalize between the inside and outside, and you'd start needing power - lots of it - to pump heat 'upstream'. More fundamentally, the Venusian atmosphere is such an enormous thermal mass that Venus's temperature changes little throughout the day/night cycle. It's *consistently* ~450c. Also, the day is longer than the year at over 370 earth days. Oh, and the surface pressure is 9 MPa. The current displayed external pressure is actually a perfectly livable pressure. I don't know if pressurizing the base with nitrogen is actually a better idea then with pure oxygen. You need much less pressure in a pure oxygen atmosphere. That makes things easier. Definetelly its not a good idea to have air mix (70% N2/30% O2) in yur suit instead of pure oxygen. A have learned it already the hard way that pure oxygen has a number of advanteges over air mix.
@Rhadamant
@Rhadamant 2 жыл бұрын
I wanted to do it as a preference, not because I thought it was better but on Venus you need to pressurize your base considerably whether you use pure O2 or not because the pressures outdoors are so extreme your windows blow out if you don't pressurize the base a lot

Something is misunderstanding. The temperature of 20•c is the suit not the shelter. Outside it’s same temperature as inside without cool vent. And I don’t know if it’s patched but not it’s really 400•c on Venus in game. If not cooling it’s damn hot inside or outside ! Correct me if I’m wrong.

real venus is like 70x more atmosphere. Dunno how that works with pressure suits... perhaps they just wanted something that wouldn't immediately bake/overpressure your suit when you spawned in. I'm guessing those hard suits are not rated for 8,000 kPa.

@Rhadamant

Oh yes. Let's say you hyper-pressurize a room build of steel frames build behind a blast door (that can handle high pressure) and then open that blast door, as the pressure equalizes it would be very easy for weaker walls or windows to explode outwards.

@@Rhadamant Tbh this game looks entertaining but the swiss cheese science puts me off. It was bad enough when you said on an early episode of this about 1% co2, 30 oxygen and the rest nitrogen. For reference its 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, 1% argon and a few trace gases even at current elevated levels co2 is still only 0.04% of earths atmosphere. Also for refence you mentioned co2 of upto 5% as desirable, IRlL this level wopuld be accutely toxic for humans, I'd have to look this one up to be sure ut I believe I rememberanything above 1% or so causes acute symptoms, of poisoning whilst below that long term exposure can cause chronic health risks. Edit: Have just checked (the shit I do arguing hard science in youtube comments for loev), 1% is about right for start of acute toxicty, US safe prolonged exposure levels is 0.5%, above about 10% you would be looking at a possibly fatal situation, no idea how the game codes for that, so do with that as you will.
