I think , somewhere in that vedio you are wrong. Most of the public university provide statistics as a subject of Science Background. Any Arts or Commerce background students cant do bechelors in Stat..

If you study statistics that will be lots of data and numbers. So you have to select dealing with either technology or numbers. If you are not a fan of technology then study statistics.

I think a data scientist is more on demand these days compared to engineers. This may not be entirely right in the context of Bangladesh though but in developed countries data scientists are the most highly paid professionals.

If you get admission in Du then go for it. Most public university courses are outdated so you have learn by yourself to make yourself job ready.

Statistics and engineering are different things. If you want be an engineer then definitely go for engineering degree. But DU statistics is also a good option.

Sir there is a high chance I might get chance into SUST Statistics. I love mathematics from the childhood and enjoy programming also and want to work in tech field in the future. So I want to opt for becoming a Data Scientist in future. So which background will be more beneficial. If I go to Stats or if I go to Computer Science in a good private university. I think that’s a good decision. Statistics will also give you the option to become hey data scientist later on, whereas if you do not want to become a doctor then there’s no point, taking biology.

Your top priority should be where your girlfriend's home is :) Jokes apart, if you choose CSE then it will be an engineering degree. Whereas Statistics will make you an expert of data. If you want to be an engineer then go for CSE. Choose between Rajshahi CSE or Jogonnath Statistics.

If your final plan is to study in USA then you’ve to select a course end in mind. If you ultimately want to undertake research related degree then don’t change your track. Just stick with one area. Example - do Bachelor and masters in genetic engineering or microbiology whichever attracts you more. But if you want to go to industry/job sector then it doesn’t matter much. Do a bachelor in Agriculture and then select the one where you can get admission easily from a USA university.

The knowledge of statistics is certainly useful it I don’t know to what extent NU prepares the graduates to become future ready. So you have to work hard to develop your self to become ready for the job market.

I think I answered this question to several others who is in the same situation. Those who stay in Dhaka, generally do well in terms of career (not always). Since you live in Dhaka, so stay at home and study in JNU and study GE.
