Here are appearances of the two Muppet characters, Statler and Waldorf, on the Magic!!! Starring Blackstone special that only aired on the PBS station, KTCA, in Minnesota on May 7, 1983. Which the special is basically a magic show starring Harry Blackstone Jr, in the tradition of vaudeville at the Orpheum Theater. And of course, Statler and Waldorf made special appearances on the special by bringing out gags and promoting Pledge Drive.
Because of its obscurity, and it probably only aired once, Statler and Waldorf’s appearances on the special and the special itself would never surface on the internet for decades. It wouldn’t be until on September 11, 2018, the Muppet Wiki Facebook account uploaded appearances of Statler and Waldorf from the special. On June 9, 2020, the Twin Cities PBS uploaded the full special on their site, so the special can be watched in its entirety online.
While this compilation of their appearances is the exact same as the post from 2018, this is in much higher quality as that post is more compressed, and for the sake for people to be aware about their appearances on the special’s existence due to it’s obscurity. So enjoy this rare piece of Muppets, Richard Hunt, and Jim Henson history.
