Episode 2: Strategy Quant X - Algo Wizard. How to get the most out of it?

Күн бұрынIn this two episode series, I talk about AlgoWizard module inside Strategy Quant X.
Learn more about Algo Wizard and how to use it to generate strategies that are constrained by the logic and the variables you allow. In the first video of this series, I will teach you how to use Algo Wizard to build your ideas step by step and see the results on the same page. In the second video, we will take what you have built and add the variables to be used to randomize the iterations of the same strategy and save it as a template. Next we will take this template and use it inside Builder module to generate thousands of variations of the same strategy.
With Algo Wizard, Strategy Quant X gives you the best of both worlds. A platform to generate trading strategies totally randomly, semi randomly or completely defind logic by you.
The reason I love Strategy Quant X are features like these, and they keep updating the platform and listen to users suggestions. I am slowly getting rid of multiple packages as SQX replacing each in every update.

Good afternoon. I have a question: once you import the template in the builder, you say that you do not want to touch the strategy block. Are those strategy blocks set by the strategy? If not, what are the settings? Do you use the reversion one?

having a template in builder, force the builder to behave a certain way. for example, keeping the signal the same and only add filters using a template will force builder to generate same strategy with only different filters.

Yes you can, add a subchart in options and choose a different time frame, you can add multiple subcharts even for different symbols

You can only control the probability that a certain draw own won't hit within a certain strategy/portfolio and starting capital using Monte Carlo analysis

Hi, can you create it so if the last 2 candles close below/above Bollinger bands then enter? Tried (Close[0] + Close[1]) > Bollinger band but doesn't do the trick. Thanks!

you need to add two conditions separately: C[0] > Bollinger C[1] > Bollinger

if you already have a template for your method then just try to program it using algo wizard. if not then it is best to start with random generation of market template in building templates. you can come up with many ideas from looking at the conditions the random generation is creating.

Hi Ali, is there a way to have the same number generated in different locations? i.e. I want to set Bollinger band lower value and upper value and have the 2 be the same number, not have one as a 20 period and one as a 50 period which would seem unusual

Hi Matt Yes you can, when you click on the three dots to pick a random generator, you can also pick "Same As" or "Negation Of". if you pick "Same As" then pick the same variable you did for the upper channel.

Everytime I enter all the fields and have everything all set up as per these tutorials, I then hit "run full backtest" and nothing happens ... any ideas why this is happening?

There is no way to know, but start simple with one condition at a time, no stoploss, pt, etc to see where the problem starts
