Thanks for the video guys! I have a similar statue that is in need of the same thing. The story behind ours is kind of amazing. Soon after we returned to the church I was doing the 33 day consecration to Jesus through Mary ( St. Louis de Montfort), nobody knew I was doing this. About halfway through the 33 days, I came home from work to find this statue in our front yard. A neighbor who worked as a garbage man found it, knew that we were Catholic, and brought it home despite it weighing over 100 lbs, and dropped it off! Talk about a sign from heaven, lol. I will definitely try your method of cleaning her up, thanks again!

Great job guys. My only suggestion is you should spray 3 -4 light coats of clear spray acrylic either shiny or matte to protect the paint. From my own experience, if you don't the pieces will fade and chip. If you leave them outside year round, give them a coat on clean surfaces at least once a year. This will keep the pieces looking new. If you have cold weather where you live, you should keep pieces inside as concrete will crack during extreme cold, then bring outside in warmer weather.

Thank you Paul for having your friend help you. My wife is recovering from Stage IV Breast Cancer and after staring at her collection of unfinished angel figurines, she tasked me to learning to paint them. The video shares on miniatures are not as helpful as your videos. Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences.

The paint is holding up very well. We used valspar on all of it except for the face.

I was watching another video and the guy suggested you use flat acrylic exterior water base paint. He suggested you make sure the statue is wet with water when you paint it. After it dries then you put another coat on but don't wet it down.

Very informative but very hard to hear all that is being said. What did you use for the "lighter" blue of Mary's cape? Was it a mixture of the Valspar and Sherman Williams. I went to Hobby Lobby and looked at their Acrylic paints but couldn't decide if this was what I needed to paint the whole statue? Will be purchasing the suggested Valspar and Sherwin Williams paints and then adding the Acrylic paints for everything else? How is Mary holding up? I like the suggestions here to spray the entire thing after painting. Your video was informative and better than others I was researching. Most of us need the step by step you provided, visual was very helpful. Thank you, Linda

Nice job ! I have 1 I washed it down I wire brushed it got all the chip paint off . Ready to paint but I notice still old paint is still chalky. Do you wash it again ? How do get that off ? When you painted the blue and white on just like 2 inch brush ?

Thank you Paul for taking the time to show us your beautiful work. Your son is so cute. Did you use the primer and base coat? If you do, which kind ? Also did you use Martin Stewar, Satin , ( sand castle) for Mary face?. I would like to repaint our 2 1/2 foot statue of our Lady of Grace , but I have no idea what kind of paint to buy. Your help is greatly appreciated. God bless.

I didn't prime the statue. I used exterior paint by Valspar and the face paint is just acrylic craft paint. With the face paint you need to experiment a little to get the colors. You could seal yours with a clear coat when you're finished.

Hi Paul Mamma Mary looks beautiful after re-painting ! Did you use Valsartan exterior paint for the colors white and blue? And acrylic paint for the face? Did you seal after painting? My garden Mamma Mary needs help, hoping to hear from you soon ! Jo

@@sigia99 I used Valspar for blue, and either Valspar or Sherwin Williams for the white. It was just basic exterior paint. I did use acrylic for the face. So far it is holding up great without sealer

@Paul, Thank you for your quick reply! How would you repair small crevice or a finger chipped? What would you use? Did you use sand paper on surface before painting or just paint statue directly after cleaning it thoroughly
